Last week I lost a long time friend to Covid. This song, and watching this video, has been cathartic in my grief. As Dylan Thomas wrote, 'And Death Shall Have No Dominion' - those who have passed away live on through their memory, their names, their families. their friends whose lives they touched.

@@rhysmeirion9768 thank you so much Rhys. I wish my Welsh was better so I could express it in the ancient language of my ancestors. Too many years away but your song reconnected me to my friend and our roots. Yes, 'And Death Shall Have No Dominion'. Thank you.

Such a beautiful and moving song that means so much to so many people, including myself. Our 'Hospital Notes' choir are performing it tomorrow in Cardiff. We will do our best to do it justice.

I lost my only sister last year and I'll never forget her and all she did for me, all I owe her.She passed away aged 91 and had nursed, all her life in which she had given to this world far more than she ever took from it. I cant sing so this is my little tribute to her, a lovely song, well sung.

What a beautiful rendition, dedicated to an obviously beautiful lady. The whole thing has left me feeling very emotional and the words at the end are so uplifting. I was only listening to different versions to help me learn the words and the tune because the choir I belong to are starting to learn it. Yours was the fifth version, and the best, but leaving aside the very personal nature of your dedication it was wonderful that you put an English translation with the pictures. I don't think I'll be able to sing it without thinking of your sister and the poignancy of the lyrics ( I don't speak Welsh but we do quite a few Welsh songs, and just being told the meaning of them doesn't allow you to appreciate them fully - I certainly do now).
    Thank you, love Hayley x

Beautiful in every way. I just heard this song for the first time earlier today as I recorded a version of it in my studio here in North Wales this morning. Clare the pianist told me about the history of the song and about this video sung by Rhys in memory of his sister Elen. Beautiful song beautiful voice beautiful sister and family. Thank you God bless

I was not very familiar with Rhys Meirion but just came across his beautiful version of Dafydd y Garreg Wen on RUclips and loved it (my favourite!). Then I found Rhys singing this lovely song which I found both beautiful and very moving. So sad that Rhys' family lost this lovely lady so early! Diolch yn fawr

I have read that Martin Luther said that to pray for someone means sending an angel to that person. So I feel sure that sending an angel to someone must also mean saying a prayer for that person. Be that as it may, I like your song for its wonderful expression of loss, of memory and of love at its most deeply felt.

Just ignore them, a tiny minority of people who presumably just didn't happen to like that style of music and were thoughtless enough that any other consideration passed them by. The song was sung beautifully, is clearly a tribute to a very special lady, and the vast majority of "votes" reflect this.
(Esgusodwch yr ymateb Saesneg - anodd i mi fynegi'r uchod yn Gymraeg.)
