    My grandma was English (please don’t tell anybody - it’s a secret!) and moved here just after WW2 with my grandad who was from here.
    She really didn’t like haggis that much so decided to make a white onion sauce (like an onion-flavoured milky bechamel) to pour over it and it instantly became a family sensation that has impressed 4 Scottish generations in one family.
    I’d recommend any English people who are worried about the spice or the stodginess to get one of the Colman’s/Schwartz white onion sauce sachets that you can make in a few minutes with milk on the hob and have that with it instead of whisky sauce. It really enhances and mellows out the flavours.

    I hated haggis as a kid, but I'll eat a whole large haggis in one go now.

    It’s better black pudding. Try it with your fry up instead.

    ... should never serve up haggis on it's own ...should have swede and mash potato with lashings of HP brown sauce over the Haggis...or a nice whiskey gravey. Nice and spicy how I like it. ;)

    to be fair - you need to have it with neeps and tatties with a bit of whisky sauce, otherwise it can be quite plain

    My dad made something similar but with bear organs in a bear stomach. He only made it during fall because he had to boil it outside 😂😂 mom did t allow it in her kitchen

    I think cartoons have given Haggis a bad rep (mainly The Simpson’s)

    • @mjkrbjcw
      @mjkrbjcw 2 года назад

      It had a bad rap way before the simpsons , the fact that it used to be cooked inside a sheep’s intestines did it

    Mr checky shirt and the girl sitting next to him had convinced themselves they were not going to like it before they had even tried it hens they Did not like it. if they did not know what was in it before eating they would probably like it, they were all like I don't even want to try it or put it in my mouth and how the hell is it a Boomer Food it has been made for well over 600 years

    It's literally only the Sheep Stomach part that makes it sound like something nasty. If ya told someone that you were eating "Spiced meat, oats, and onion" with a side of whatever, they'd fucking ask for some in a heart beat.

      Plus most haggis is sold in a type of plastic not the authentic sheeps stomach.. And even if sold with the 'sheeps stomach' it's actually the large intestine at least they did where I worked..

    • @glenmartin7978
      @glenmartin7978 2 года назад +1

      It can be cooked in sausage skin what is the difference, they just told themselves they were not going to like it so they did not like it

    • @Akuu820
      @Akuu820 2 года назад

      This brand actually uses a large intestine. So it's basically the same as a sausage casing.
