As someone who likes CSM orders of magnitudes greater than JJK--I also hate the position CSM has put JJK in. I wish Mappa would stop, or at the very least slow down, for like a 6 months to a year, and focus on redoing company policies and practices so that animators aren't working under inhumane conditions and unlivable wages. In my ideal world, they'd take more time to make fewer shows/movies. I mean remember what that one JJK animator said about how they only got to through 30% of their vision in the Sukuna v Mahoraga fight? and that thing broke the internet. Imagine what they'd make with the proper time and sleep!
Mappa is doing what a lot of companies around the world are doing, in that it's focusing on short-term profits over sustainability and long-term success. It can't keep this up forever. If the executives in charge don't make massive changes, they're going to crumble at the worst possible time, and none of the properties they acquired that we love will get the adaptations they deserve.
Chainsaw Man's direction and overall aesthetic is my favourite out of all anime I've ever seen. It's so good. it's a shame it'll be gone...

@@SatanenPerkele Dorohedoro is great but it can't beat the exceptional first arc of CSM (which is my favorite manga/anime ever so it's not a fair comparison lol).

I don't see Mappa ever dropping CSM as it's their own baby. They did say that it underperformed in comparison to JJK BUT surely Mappa still makes more money from CSM than they do with JJK in total. With CSM they get everything from BD sales to stuff like merchandise as well. Every time someone buys a little Pochita plushie, Mappa gets money from that. Meanwhile with JJK, they only get a small part of the pie (depending on where exactly they stand in the production committee) because they have to share with all the investors.

We just saw Seshimo get an incredible line up of directors for JJK S2, what makes yall think he wont get another top tier director?
Half of the amazing line up of jjk s2 came from Shōta Goshozono the director himself. Plus a lot of those animators said they'll never work with mappa again.

@@userK894 Hakuyo Go and Vincent were great but it is what it is. Kazuto Arai and Miso haven't directed that many episodes in their career so even under ideal conditions, I wouldn't hold my breath over them coming back.
But Yuji Tokuno could come back. Shun Enokido and Sakazume could be available by the time S3 airs. Yoshihara too. And they'll end up getting some great directors again somehow.
Gosoo leaving would be terrible but that's just fear mongering based on nothing.

The target audience is Japan as the most of profit comes from Japan and not from the people who pirate the show . They (The studio) are gonna cater to please their money spenders . CSM S1 series director was cancelled by the Diehard CSM fans of Japan for it's choice of direction (Yes, that's right 'cancelled' They refused to watch and support it and harassed him and signed petitions) So , I think no matter who is directing it , it's gonna look more anime esque than the cinematic show that was CSM S1
Crunchyroll paid $3 million something for exclusive CSM rights. Overseas also plays an important role

There were like 2000-3000 ungrateful fans crying about the adaptation. The majority liked it. All the merch from Mappa store were sold out within a few days too and Mappa's online store is only for Japan

It's not just a few thousand people , the porn parody sold a few more times than the official anime disks . If that doesn't tell you anything about the reception , then I Donno what will . As a fan of both,yes I agree. Mappa should focus on chainsaw man only and give jujutsu kaisen to another studio,so jujutsu kaisen can have a proper schedule and production (seeing how mess of a production JJK S2 is). it's a win win for both CSM and JJK fans but unfortunately the CEO of Mappa is greedy and JJK S3 is confirmed. If you want to blame someone blame it on Mappa.

JJK S3 might be screw,it could turn out to be worse than S2.

I've said before I didn't like the style the csm director put in the show but his stylistic choices fit way better for this arc, rather than the more comedic previous arc.

The whole point of switching directors is because they don't want that style though. People in Japan were complaining and sending hate to the director over it and the bluray sales unfortunately didn't perform as well. It's a bummer because I love Ryu Nakayama's direction

so basically don’t expect shit after the chainsaw man movie. kinda disappointed with how they didn’t adapt all of Chainsaw man part 1 in season 1, but I understand the working conditions that Mappa employees are under. It’s a shame.
i don't understand why they would make a movie honestly.... the series hasn't made any separate content that could warrant a movie that delves from the main manga. it just doesn't make sense to me. just focus on the DAMN anime series and get us season 2 already. there's EASILY enough manga to make at least one more season at this point in time. take this from a guy who is obsessed and completely up to date within the manga of CSM.
It's really sad how Manabu continues to get away with this. This is his mindset. " all I need is one famous animator to get people to brutal force there way through the production who cares if the deadline close to impossible when animators are to prideful to let the production collapse". I didn’t really like the approach they took with CSM s1. Chainsaw man THRIVES by living on that edge between CINEMA and EDGY TRASH. The MC is obsessed with Sex, he's got a chainsaw for a head. The series is meant to be ridiculous before it blindsides you with genuine tension and horror writing.
Don't get me wrong the direction for the CSM s1 was INSANE. It was a movie-level quality. But that desire to ground the series. To tie it into Fujimoto's love of cinema. Results in the series losing some of that zany, b-movie energy that inexplicably gets so well with the serious moments.
Anime feels like Nakayama fell in love with the more somber moments of the manga. It followed the directing styles of an art house film, while the manga carries itself more like a violent action B-movie. This direction would've been PERFECT for a Fire Punch adaptation not here.
I think they should give the JJK production to the AOT line for now because its over and let keisuke line finish the CSM movie. And after the movie,maybe merge the two lines(keisuke & yuichiro) to finish the work on JJK in due time. But no matter what path they choose,it'll nearly be impossible to pull of both shows production in their due time because of how short the time is and mappa's employee shortage.
The AOT line is probably spliting between Jigokuraku and Dorohedoro

Animators have accepted slave conditions for decades, so it's their own fault for allowing things to get like this.

Mappa's doing a phenomenal job with Bucchigir's animation thus far, it feels like it's their best work to date, which is saying a lot considering all the big animes the studio has worked on

The teaser is just moving manga panels, a lot of trailers do that before they have real footage. The movie obviously (hopefully) isn't gonna look like that, the poster still looks like S1 art style.

CSM is better written than Jjk. If it had been adapted properly..... Then audience would've liked it. Instead of dropping any anime, Mappa Should focus on improving working conditions
It’s the other way around where the anime of JJK is better than the CSM anime, but the manga, CSM is way better. So CSM would still work without MAPPA, but JJK needs MAPPA more.
@@thomasffrench3639 Good part of Chainsaw man hasn't been adapted yet so it's hard to say. If mappa properly adapts it with accurate and appropriate additional scenes ..... I think Chainsaw Man can surpass JJK. If we just go by S1, Chainsaw man S1 was better than JJK S1, and it's not my opinion..... Ive heard a lot of people say that.
