That overhead shot of the floatplane was mesmerizing. Great videography as usual.
I flew on a float plane in Alaska decades ago . I liked the flight a lot .
The "ClEArRR" at 3:42 had me on the floor 😂😂. Amazing video as always Josh
Reminded me John Dean's Presidential Campaign... (YEEAAaaah!!!!) from '04.
2:33 I love how he says that so seriously
Wow! I grew up in Anchorage and worked at UPS there at the airport. Two or three days a week, I would would take my lunch over to Lake Hood and watch planes. I also had a cabin 30 miles north of Talkeetna by train on the Susitna river. This brings back great memories of home. A home that I loved. I just bought a Cessna 172 and I’m in the middle of flight lessons. One day, I will return home and fly there. Thanks for this great video. Looking foreword to part 2.
Awesome story!
Like a lot of folks, my only familiarity with Alaska is via cable TV shows like Ice Road Trucker, Alaska Railroad, etc., so I at least recognize some of the place names. Glad to see you're still finding interesting trips to make, Josh :)
Just got my pilots license in 2018, flew from Texas, visited my sister in Palmer, rented a plane in Willow and took a CFI with me. Did my first actual soft field take off and landing on snow. All my training at KTPL, so all my soft field work was simulated on asphalt. Got to fly over the glaciers. Also did the same thing from Palmer airport and got intro training in mountain flying. Crazy beautiful experience. One of my most relaxed landings and it was on friggin snow.
Beautiful view. America's last frontier.
Don Lee is such a cool guy. I've had him as a DPE for 3 checkrides (Instrument, Commercial, Seaplane) and he's so laid back that he makes the ride fun, and although a DPE isn't supposed to teach, he is full of wisdom and little tidbits of information that make flying safer and more fun. I look forward to doing my CFI with him soon.
I did my SES with Don Lee back in 2006. He was only operating 1 tri-pacer (N8033D) at the time. It was the most fun flying/training experience ever. Looks like his operation has grown exponentially. Cheers!
He's a legend.
Epic! I've lived in Alaska since 1969 and I love the place. I always enjoy seeing it through the eyes of those who don't live here, and Josh has done a spectacular job of conveying the spirit of Alaska and what makes this state so special. Thank you Josh.
That's the best part about it all. Seeing it through someone else's eyes.
GREAT JOB Josh! Really. Truly. Great Job. Really good story telling.
what a beautiful production Josh, absolutely beautiful cinematography... thanks for doing this
Ahh, Talkeetna! "The Quaint Little Drinking Village With A Climbing Problem" (basecamp town for most parties ascending Mount Denali). I was one of the volunteers who recovered the SB-17 (44-85505) crash site north of Talkeetna in July 2010, to bring the parts back to Grimes Field, Ohio for our B-17 (44-85813) "historic re-creation" project.
3:41 The beginning of a legend.
5:11 Josh's first try.
...maybe we can all turn this into a meme(?). I mean I'm not a pilot, but I'll do my best to help pass it along through cyberspace.
“How much do you weigh?”
“😐....too much.”
😂😂
It just gets better and better. Thanks, Josh.
I have never seen anything more beautiful than this video
I’m back to your channel after a brief hiatus. And just in time! Your videography and production values are off the charts! Many thanks!
12:33 You know I'm not a pilot right HAD ME CRYING
WOW...What amazing scenery
Wow! You sure are getting around these days Josh. I have never been to Alaska but I think it's an incredible part of our Country, based on what I have read and several TV shows I have seen that are shot in Alaska. What a fantastic place for GA, right? So....when are you going to do some flying around Europe?? lol. I look forward to this series. Your talent with videography plus the incredible natural beauty of Alaska are a match made in heaven.
Wasn't expecting to hear a beautiful sounding K5LA on an Alaska Railroad locomotive in the middle of an aviation video. Bravo sir!
this was super cool because i live in anchorage alaska, and i actually was at the airport getting on my dad’s friend’s plane and i saw you at the airport! and yea, we get 20 hours of darkness in winter, and 21 hours of daylight in summer!
WOW! I can't wait for part 2!!
Wow... best back yard ever!
Oh man - so epic! As a Wisconsin pilot I dream of scenery like that - maybe I'll have to book a flight!
You know who to fly with, buddy!

My wife and I just got back from our first trip to Alaska, we stayed in Talkeetna.and Homer, I am a low time VFR pilot who also enjoyed my first float plane ride from Trail Ridge Air at the largest sea plane port in the world. Alaska is awesome, looking forward to part 2.

Wow Josh! Just wow. What beauty and fun! Great job!
Josh, I've been watching you for a long time. I loved the "not training" videos, the long-form raw "just you flying around texas" stuff, the cross-country trips, and love the cinematic film-making that you've been doing since the re-brand; like this video here. Fantastic work on all fronts sir. Congratulations on a very successful channel.
Josh - you are an incredible film maker. I am amazed at your shot list, editing and music. I lived in Anchorage for 2 years while stationed at Elmendorf AFB. Thank you for sharing your love of aviation and telling us the story. Keep them coming by friend.

My grandmother was a private pilot (she owned a beechcraft bonanza) and she took me on several flights with her when I was in middle school/early high school and every time I watch a vid of yours ...well... I'm sure you know how I feel. I just wish I had the money and the time to get up there. X-plane 11 will have to do. Great vid as always. Your productions are top notch!

Beautiful area and beautiful flying! Flying in Alaska is at the top of my flying bucket list. So awesome you're up there and sharing videos of your experiences there!
Josh I totally impressed with the quality of your videos, they just keep getting better and better. Having amazing scenery probably helps a little, but the real talent is in the videography and editing.
Very cool! You are hitting all the places I grew up!! Alaska is truly an aviation mecca. Glad you got to experience it. I certainly miss running the Susitna River either up to Devil's Canyon or down to the Deshka! We went every Memorial Day Holiday weekend back in the day.
Awesome video, thanks for posting such beautiful works of art!!!
I had an argument with another pilot about how tight the runway at Talkeetna is and he said I was crazy. I then realized they had built a new airport on the other side of the highway. It's huge!
Lived in Fairbanks for 5 years. Loved every second of it!!!
Quality of your videos is amazing man! Keep it up!
Love the video and I can't wait for the next part. Just love how you put together these videos for us. Makes want to move to Alaska now...thank you for sharing your adventures with us.

Magnificent. So beautiful.
Excellent production value. I enjoyed (and learned the most from) the short field takeoff with the stall horn teasing and the plane owner telling you to trust the plane... great raw flying
I'm speechless. Truly a flying mecca......you took me there Josh. The beauty is indescribable.....
Really amazing video 😍 can’t wait for pt. 2

Awesome is all I can say no speechless! Great video. Probably the best I've seen from you. Thanks and patiently waiting for part 2.
The hallmark to any AK aviation video series is the guest appearance by the Alaska Railroad. Thank you for pleasing even the most discerning RUclipsr! 🚅🛫
I just got home from alaska, so this is awesome to see. I flew with the Talkeetna Air Taxi while I was there as well. This is so cool to see, awesome video Josh.
excellent work Josh , the daylight at 10.14 pm reminds me of being home in Ireland in summer , 16-17 hours of daylight no problem . great video , safe skies ..
I can't wait for this series to continue. Between the Flying Cowboys and now you being in Alaska, I'm completely mesmerized by the state!
