I recently purchased both the red flip and smart 3 by phone. They have a promotion on now of 70% off with no activation fee and free shipping. I got my phones in 2 days. I love both phones. It is true that they are easy to learn to use and they come with INSTRUCTION books. They have loud clear speakers and are a pleasure to use compared to other phones I have used. I recommend their use. I am an 80 year old first time smart phone user.
Bought this phone at Best Buy and it was DEEPLY discounted. We were out the door for $70 bucks. The extra $5 was waived. We're working through getting comfortable. I'm going to add Calendar and FB to the menu.
Unfortunately, this phone does not support wireless charging. However, if you're concerned about your parents being able to plug the phone in, we'd recommend using a wireless charging receiver. These devices plug into the USB-C port on the phone and allow it to charge on wireless charging docks. Here's an example of one: www.amazon.com/Nillkin-Wireless-Charging-Receiver-Charger/dp/B01M11UT3V
The lively network. They cover 98% of the United States. On their website, you can type in your ZIP Code and see if you’ll have coverage in your area. By the way these days it doesn’t matter who the carrier is because they all are on the same cell towers and renting space from each other on their cell towers. so essentially you get Verizon cell towers no matter who the carrier is.
Did you know that on a normal android phone, in the text/messaging app, you can put 2 fingers on the screen and spread them apart (while still touching) to instantly make the font larger? And you can (or have your kids) go into the phone settings and enlarge the default font on everything.
Is there a way to lock the icons so they can't change the settings or the display? My grandmother will accidentally do this and we can't do anything to help her.
Can the "urgent response" be lowered to the bottom or hidden? Thinking about getting this for my grandparent. Their state of mind and heath is good, so this particular feature would definitely be patronizing. They simply want a easy to navigate phone.
@@Theseniorlist that's a huge plus. My mum was calling emergency several times a week, so her phone was confiscated. The nursing home doesn't need that kind of drama.
I switched from a flip To the Smart 4 both Jitterbug. I called to start and was told all info would be moved over in about 30 mins. didn't happen. I cant even get started to use. I'm 82 and having a rough time getting anything to work. where do I get help ?
Why, why, why, why, WHY, no matter where I go, I can't see what the browser looks like on this phone? Are you hiding something? Doesn't it work? I look on Amazon, I look on Lively, I look here. No. Only the menu, texting, and photos. Is there something wrong with the internet interface?
I'm a android user. I live in a different state than my elderly father. Currently he has a iPhone8, previously he had an android phone. When that iphone8 released best buy pushed him into the purchase and we always have an issue directing him to the apps, I was pretty upset. I can't stand when people take advantage of the elderly. Do you think that the jitterbug would be simpler for him? Easier for me to help him remotely? I believe that I could install extra apps remotely. Thank you

I understand how you feel because many times I, myself, have expressed the exact, same opinion. But now I find myself desperately looking for an easy to use cell phone for my Spanish speaking, 88 year old mother suffering with the beginning of dementia, who lives alone but refuses to move to an assisted living community. See, my mother is the woman who paid a private tutor to visit our home twice a week to give my brother and I English lessons before we came to this, our beloved and great country, THE UNITED STATES of AMERICA! She is the woman who only finished third grade but helped my brother and I to graduate from Baruch College, MIT, New York University and Fordham University. The least I can do for her now is respect her decision to keep some of her independence and stay in her own apartment. So, you see, while she made sure her children learned to speak English and grow to be law abiding, tax paying, proud US citizens, she herself was not able to learn the language. So now her daughter is here, searching the Internet, trying to find a simple phone with Spanish commands that will make the last years of her life a little easier. To whom it may concern, Aloha, I was wondering if the Jitter Bug Phone's have any problem with virus??? Because every time I get a new phone, the viruses will be the first thing comes out, before the phone dies out. And if it does have the viruses, are we supposed to take care of the problem or do you take care of the problem ??? Let me know about this problem soon as possible. Does it come with "BLOAT WARE" and if so, how does one get rid of it without paying a tech. "AND", without the use of a wired ear bud's, can the average not completely deaf senior hear. I when the area in which I live, no longer has the use of a tradition phone, meaning those that are on a wall or a flat surface with a push button or even a dial. Which didn't require a set of ear buds to use. Though the cell phone they provided us with, when taking our traditional phone's. Are to high tech to utilze when there are all the various apps one will never ever utilized, impossible to delete, and use battery resource. And without the use of a set of wired ear buds, impossible to hear in a empty room, let alone a public situation.
@@Theseniorlist Thank you for answering my question, all they upgraded was the OS, manufacturer and gave it a slightly bigger screen, why even bother?, won't be upgrading my grandfather's Jitterbug Smart 3

If you're able to put an address in a phone, it sounds like you're ready for a more advanced phone. My Dad can't even figure out how to get into contacts on a regular smartphone. I am more interested in an easy to use interface and simplistic use for seniors without any tech savvy.
@@CBB1981 Not necessarily. Most seniors have navigational issues, but once in the desired location, would like features available that they would typically find in their old Address/Telephone Books/Rolodex/Ledgers that were hand written. An address feature under contacts is something that could be used or skipped (user preference dependent), but I have found that most elders find crossover/transition to smart phones easier when the virtual/digital features more closely mimic the vintage Phone/Address Ledgers/Notebooks (Name, Phone, Address) features/layout that they are accustomed to. 🙂
WHY? Why did you start saying "Hey google" I was watching this video with my mom and it started making her upset with her google devices responding and now she doesn't want to watch this video or try using her phone i just bought her. 😠
Are you serious or kidding? It is a review and demo video - I think showing how to use the voice feature is helpful to more people than it is a problem. I'm looking at the phone for my elderly parents and found the video very helpful.

Wish there was an older person showing the features

Yes, you can, but you'll need to use a third-party app like WhatsApp or Google Meet, as FaceTime (the app) is not available on Android phones.
