I used to stress over beans and really it’s legumes so I use the tofu homemade hummus and one type of being in recipes for 4 to 5 days and so yes prepping is wonderful with the DailyDozen it’s easy Peezy! I’ve also learned to add things a bit differently like vegetables to my chili to add a few more vegetables and greens and arugula for cruciferous to any other kind of soup or salads arugula and radishes.

Yes, I do count any bread made with whole grain flour as whole grain. Your bread looked like it was half wheat, so in this case it would depend on whether the wheat was a whole wheat flour.

I would love to see a prep video. I've been using the daily dozen for about a year now but I don't always have items prepared that help me get all the items in.
Re: the beans issue, I usually eat a cup of beans, if I'm having them in a meal, like at lunch. Then, let's say I have some tofu in a vegetable/grain soup at dinner. That's three servings, no biggie. Or you could have some roasted chickpeas for an afternoon snack, to kind of fill in the blanks. It seemed like you got a LOT of things covered with your breakfast, already, so I don't necessarily see how you could have added beans to your oatmeal, without it being weird. I sometimes make a smoothie that includes half a cup of white beans or black beans, depending on what other flavors are in there. Let's say you wanted to make a pumpkin smoothie, to fuel up for a morning workout. It would include a serving of canned pumpkin, a ripe pear (to sweeten it), 1/2 cup white cannelini beans, a cup of soy milk, cinnamon, a tablespoon of spinach powder, a serving of almond butter, and a touch of sea salt. It's a pretty rich smoothie, at about 575 calories, but it has a lot of nutrients (including 25 grams of protein!) and it ticks 5 boxes, that I can tell. You probably won't taste the spinach powder and I realize that it doesn't technically count as a veg, on the daily dozen, but it still packs a ton of nutrients. I make my own from just dehydrated spinach and I prefer that to raw spinach, which I can never get to blend well enough. Anyway, that's one way that I would include beans in a breakfast. Another option is a sweet potato hash. You could easily get three servings of veg in with diced sweet potato, plus any of the following: onion, bell pepper, mushrooms, spinach. Add some sausage flavored tofu crumbles (salt, granulated garlic, ground fennel, pepper, and a touch of cayenne), and maybe a piece of toast or a sliced orange, on the side. I hope that helps! And thank you for making this video :D I'm Flexitarian, so I do eat meat and dairy, but I try to keep it to a minimum. I enjoy watching videos about fully plant-based eating, as well, because that can be a little more challenging. This was fun, thanks!

I love rye bread too! Sometimes I forget the caraway seeds so it’s not as “rye” tasting… but always still good. 😆😆 I used this recipe holycowvegan.net/rye-bread/#recipe sometimes I use oil, sometimes I leave it out. There’s only a slight difference in softness, so shouldn’t be a problem if you’re avoiding it. 😊 Lupini beans are awesome! One of my favorite snacks too. Great idea.

@@LetsEatPlants we were backcountry canoe portaging for a week from October 1 to Oct 7 in Restoule Provincial Park and it was like Summer! temps in the high 20's Celsius and sadly the mosquitoes were still in full force. Our weather is so unpredictable now. I ate Vegan dehydrated meals from Nomad Nutrition. they're very good. They do have oil but that's okay for a week. I needed the extra calories.

For some reason, me eating according to the daily dozen and meal prepping never coincided. I never thought about it - until I saw this video. So I prepped all my food for the day while checking of boxes. It was so easy to figure out what to make and even easier to just grab it when i was hungry. Great idea, thanks!

Yes that would be a great video, good idea! I was planning to try the 21 tweaks for 30 days… but it has not been achievable at this time. 😆😆 A prep video including them would be manageable though!

I’d also love to see a daily dozen meal prep. I fall short on a few categories because it’s just a lot of food for me. I try to always keep hummus on hand, a 1/4 cup serving will tick one bean box. Smoothies are a good snack for me, I throw in berries, banana, and frozen spinach to tick 3 boxes.
Aww thank you! It was pretty easy overall since I was focused on it… but did realize that I’m not hitting the daily dozen normally on a daily basis! I did have to really try to hit them all on this day. 😅😅😅 The meal prep (coming tomorrow) should help! 💕

I would love Daily Dozen meal preps - I would also love Fiber Fueled meal preps - or maybe combined. Fiber fueled wants you to eat at least 30 different plants each week.
