The Brihadeshwara Temple in Thanjavur, completed in 1010 AD, is a marvel of Dravidian architecture. This temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, features a massive vimana (tower) that rises to a height of 66 meters. The entire structure is made of granite, and its inner sanctum houses one of the largest Shiva lingams(湿婆林伽) in India. The temple's walls are adorned with intricate carvings depicting various deities and mythological stories, showcasing the Chola's prowess in stone carving.
The Airavatesvara Temple in Darasuram, built by Rajaraja Chola II, is smaller in scale but equally impressive in its architectural detail. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is known for its exquisite stone carvings and detailed sculptures. The chariot-shaped mandapa (hall) is a unique feature of this temple, and the walls are covered with intricate friezes depicting scenes from Hindu mythology. The temple complex also includes a tank and several smaller shrines, adding to its grandeur.
The Brihadeshwara Temple in Gangaikonda Cholapuram was constructed by Rajendra Chola I to commemorate his victory over the northern kingdoms. Similar in design to the Thanjavur temple, it stands as a testament to the Chola dynasty's power and artistic excellence. The temple complex includes a large Nandi statue, intricately carved sculptures, and beautifully crafted pillars. The sanctum sanctorum contains a massive Shiva lingam, emphasizing the temple's spiritual significance.
The Chola temples are not just places of worship but also centers of cultural and artistic activities. They played a significant role in promoting Tamil culture, language, and arts. The temples were also hubs for various forms of art, including dance, music, and literature. I could imagine the planning,designing and preparing in the mind/minds of the engineers and builders. Integrating all the ideas and thinkings to create this amazing structure. Barath, was the country with at least 5 thousand years of history, literature, monuments, traces all over the world. The most richest & the most civilized place on earth by all means. After the invasion by the mughals who mostly did the cultural damage & british invaders who loot every resource to the bottom level. At last they left Barath, Named India which was made into a few pieces by them. I'm sincerely surprised that they're so called world wonders which can never even compare with the stone structures of Tanjore Brahadeeshwara Temple (also called Periya Koil which is BIG TEMPLE) & also the Grand Anaicut in Trichy which was built almost 2,100 years ago, Meenakshi temple in Madurai, Kangai Konda sozheeswaram, Airavadheeswaram temples, etc, etc...the list continues so long. No words to explain the beauty of these treasures. "Jai Barath"

Welcome to our vast country full of ancient history temples attractive structures hills rivers forests seas and glorious bright past. The Chola dynasties of the south show their artistic love their art and culture. Which are now reflected in their sculptures. In the past many travellers from abroad were surprised seeing the stone sculptures.They became speechless. Again and again many many travellers are coming till today to see the artistic works of the Cholas in the south of India.

The CHOLA Temples are the most awe inspiring in their architectural beauty as well as their religious significance in ancient & medieval Hinduism in India.
Hinduism had never been mentioned by cholas. Tamils are not Hindus but Aseevakam which existed in ancient India.
Thirukural written by Tamil Krittinan ( mahabharat Krishnan) was an Aseevakam book which encourages questioning.
Pl don't put us into relegion.

Even though these are old video clips, heartfelt thanks for your visit to India.
