*Many people believe that there is no message or meaning to pictographs - not only this one, but those found at any location - and that they are just random "doodling." What do you think? Is there a significant meaning or message in them?*
Ha! Best comment ever. I'm humbled. Being a very new channel, it's a struggle to find that elusive personal connection with viewers. Ultimately, I want to give more of what people enjoy going forward! So if you can elaborate more specifically about what you enjoyed, that would be great and give me a guidepost to focus on!
That's an interesting thought! If so, it's probably also communicating a deeper level of additional information like safest or least problematic routes.
I wrote the definitive guide to hiking Sedona and have been to the summit of Thunder by five different routes. Maybe 50 times in total. I've hunted rock art and ruins all over the Four Corners for over 40 years. Unfortunately, those scratchings aren't ancient. Those are a modern fake. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Otherwise, this was a good video. If you want to find all the ruins and rock art panels in the area, my book will show you where they are.
Thanks! And about the "cairns"... I'm a Canadian from up in the Rocky Mountains and we've always called them "karens" like I've pronounced in the video. This is interesting - do you pronounce them differently and where are you from?
If you saw something on the rock there, it means the area was vandalized recently. I made this climb in March 2024, and that scribble was not there, I explored every rock. I made a video on this mountain and you can clearly see it is not there. This is definitely not an ancient pictograph as neither style, nor location, nor paint type matches any area pictographs. Sadly, must be someone vandalizing the rock recently.
When you had to spend most of your time surviving as an adult native...you didn't have time to do scratching on a rock...the only people with time to climb mountains were the young...or the old. Sooo...children graffiti.
You have no business being up there those mountains are sacred so just stay away from all native lands WE NATIVES ARE WATCHING FOR NON NATIVES TRASSPASSING OUR LANDS AND SACRED LANDS PLUS OUR ANCESTRAL LANDS

I’ve always wondered what was up there!
It also gives great views in all directions!
Nicer back in the 70s and 80s. Fewer freaky people.
Karens in the desert? Is nowhere safe from these lunatics telling you why your hiking is wrong! :P
😂😂😂💯
I've dismantled quite a few.
Nice video. Thanks!
Thanks for tuning in!
It’s a map of the area!
