Jabulani was so good about offering Kahnyisa encouragement as a very sick baby. I think he will always have a soft spot for her. Her weight is great and shows she is getting good nutrition.

Hey HERD/Adine, couple questions. You call her Meisekent (spelling?) a lot, is that a nic name or is there a meaning behind it? I've heard Adine use meisekent also when speaking to Tamisa, I think it's a endearing term for girl/girl child. Adine recently mentioned that Khanyisa still gets a bottle every two hours through the night. Weaning is at about four to five years old. She's almost three and I think she is just as sweet as can be 💕

In some of the morning nursery videos (before joining the herd for the daily walk/forage), Adine mentions that they spent moments in the morning and night "bonding" with Khanyisa (human to baby elephant). Similar to the bonding a mother Ellie would give (as in 24 hour bobding)...except both elephant herd and humans take turns proving the all-day bonding. The human-time bonding is spent picking grass for her to eat, rubbing her body, talking to her, feeding her the bottles, singing her bedtime lullabies, and feeding her sweet potatoes and Marika fruit. This time also allows them to notice up-close her tusk growth and general health. The 24 hr bonding (ellie herd/human/sheep) helps the baby elephant to not-stress and gives 24 hour companionship. Adine mentioned in videos that this bonding keeps an orphaned baby elephant's fragile life (the first 4 years) steady and healthy.
