  • This Dometic Pinguin AC had a bad fan motor, so the customer and I installed a new one.

    Great video. I think you're the only video I've found for a Dometic Penguin II fan motor replacement. Now, gotta go jump on my roof and get mine done.

    Great Video and appreciate the narration while you were working in areas we could not see! Thanks. I must have missed the episode when you discussed Cameron moving on. Did he go off to college or find another job? He seemed like a great helper!

    Yes, I always enjoy your videos, and I do agree with a previous comment that was made, I feel like the grills were super dirty and needed a good cleaning. But again, I do not want to sound negative, just an observation on my part. Thank you for sharing this informative video. My last comment also is that I’m glad your replacing the capacitor. That’s typically one of the first items I change when dealing with an AC unit.

    Why would you not clean those nasty condenser coils while you were in the unit?

    • @hillbillyrv

      Who said I didn’t? Not everything gets recorded.

      Ok it appears you did not clean them. Some would not know to do that. At least mention it as preventive maintenance. They were filthy when you put the covers back on . But anyways getting in a hurry can cause issues on its own . Thanks for the videos.

    Hello from the quiet ozarks Ken. Another video of value. Does a portable ac unit hurt the rv ac when both are running. Tight lines and bent poles

      Not as long as it is not blowing right on the AC thermostat. They work great as a supplemental AC source.

    sorry to be downer Doug...but think that unit is supposed to do that....noticed the PTCR cap off to the side....almost acting as a soft start for a camper that is or will be generator capable.....but I could be wrong.....

      I thought the same thing, but I never seen one start that slow before.

    Out of curiosity, if the ac unit stops working in high but medium and low works is the motor itself bad or something else?

    • @hillbillyrv
      @hillbillyrv  11 месяцев назад

      It could be the high winding in the motor or something wrong with the control board or wiring. Hard to say.

    Good vid Kenny. Makes you wonder what started failing first, the motor or the cap.

    Good video coming out at a good time for me. I have an 03 Lance truck camper with I believe the original Dometic Penguin A/C. It still cools pretty good but one of the squirrel cages rattles. I tried to adjust it from below and what a pain in the butt that is. Access is very Limited. So I will try again but from the top this time. My a/c is the low profile version and although I didnt see the cover of the one you worked on the inside looks similar to mine. Worst case and I put in a new motor. Thanks for showing me how. Also, I think the original thermostat and control box should be changed. I think you have a video on that as well.

      Good luck. If you have to change the motor, it’s not a bad job.
