Hi Lesley and Danny, I have to say when you showed the picture of the chateau back in the day, to now, what a huge difference. It will always amaze me, on how this could happen. Over the years of following you, you have told us, due to taxes, money, whatever, is to why these beautiful homes become abandoned. However, it is still sad, especially when there are photographs left behind. I wonder what year the original wallpaper was put up, it looked in perfect condition. What a great find thanks guys. What a wonderful place! Impressive artifacts! I love the painted walls ,the paintings and the embroidery! Thank you, Lesley and Danny, for this great exploration! You are the best!❤
Another great job Lesley ans Danny. This one is never comming back. After his death no onewanted to live there. I wonder how many people lived there through the years. Who built it ? I hope for the most part they all were happy. We will never know. That flintlock looked really old. To bad all the antiques are rotting away. When there all gone there gone for ever. Never to return. Thats something I just dont understand. Very sad. I haved watched bros of decay for years now. You two always get me. Good job Stay safe See you next week.
This is an incredible place. Nothing can beat French castles. Well, Portuguese manors, maybe. A bit clarification about the spears. A javelin is made fro throwing, and a spear is used in hand-to-hand combat. So the small one with the arrow head is a javelin, the others are spears.
Hey dear Lesley, I just happened to find your indication of a new BrosofDecay-video this evening. Well, how great is that, bro! - The picture is looking very interesting with that fully furnished room and the old items visible on the table, - and these many books. - I am already excited to see your video and listen to your background information. Stay safe and wishing you all the best and a very blessed Advent. Peace and kindest regards.
Hi Lesley, When you were looking at the bedroom with the long pictures on the bed (at 1:02:24), that had the photo on the bottom left corner, it looks like someone had broken out the glass and stole the war medal that was on the top right. There's only a shadow left of it. It Irks me when someone steals something precious like that.
It’s really not that uncommon. My husband runs an auction house and we clean out estates. The majority of the time it’s one of the children or relatives that received the home on passing and are not interested in keeping the house. Or we get called in by lawyers that working on the estate and any debts involved. There are certain things like pictures, war medals, and things like that that we will set aside and let any family members know that we have it. It is RARELY wanted. Some antique furniture is damn impossible to sell unless in impeccable condition (like chairs and sofas.) Cabinets and stuff like that are more likely to sell, beds too, but honestly in my area you just aren’t going to get much. We’re in rural VA, and a LOT of people that inherited their Victorian parents homes are passing away, so the market is flooded with the stuff. Most young people just don’t want that kind of furniture. Heavy as heck, brown, etc. personally I love it, and it pains me a bit when someone who I know is going to paint it or convert it into something else wins it. But in an age where people move all the time, in and out of states, countries… furniture like that just becomes more of a burden. All the artwork here and African objects pains me to see. That cabinet at 1:06:53 is absolutely GORGEOUS. I think that piece would actually fetch a pretty penny. I have an 1890s organ in my dining room because I just couldn’t bare trashing it. It’s in GREAT condition, tons of carving. Sure it’s nothing super fancy, but it looks a million times better than stuff made today. I have a few other pieces too. I have a civil war (1860s) dresser upstairs, and another late 1890s kitchen hutch
Awesome place full of treasure. The muzzle loader rifle is from the 17hundreds,the needle work pictures are exquisite and exquisite ,love the furniture, wall papers, drapes and chandeliers truly avast treasure left to decay is so sad .I wonder why it was all left behind. You guys are great ,thank you.Have a Merry Christmas and a very happy new year.👍❤️❤️🇺🇸

Very cozy atmosphere. I love the hard lighting created in the dark small rooms by your camera light because you are closer to the objects which forms dark shadows on the walls. It adds to the eerie atmosphere. I remember Franks currency growing up in Belgium in the 1970's and 1980's. Yes that Islamic stone building is in Mecca but it is called the Kabbah. I also find the picture of the dark wolf like animal chained at the leg interesting. It looks like one of those supernatural red eye werewolves that many people report seeing. I also saw three of them in the 1990's. Those VHS tapes are like yesterday to me. More interesting is the earlier 20th century objects and pictures which I agree are likely to be the owners parents. It makes me wonder what his parents from that earlier time period would have made of the interracial marriage of their son with an African woman.
What a fantastic find! 55:31 that’s a bellow for a forge in a blacksmith shop. They can be even bigger or smaller depending on the size furnace. I can imagine how isolating living in this castle would feel after her husband’s death. He was probably the only one keeping her in France. After he dies she probably wants to go home to her own family. Likely not aware of how valuable this estate is even in this state to stick around and liquidate the assets.
The pictures that you described as being embroidered, including the brightly-colored one, were done by needlepoint, not embroidery. Some of the tapestries could have been woven, whereas others could be needlepoint. Someone draws a design on canvas and prepares a corresponding graph showing the colors of yarn to be used, and then another person does the actual needlepoint. There are several types of stitches that can be used in making a needlepoint picture or tapestry.
You had a Blacksmith bellows in the stairwell. And the plate above the fireplace with the semi circle out of it was for when a doctor would bleed a patient. The arm tucked into the curve and the bowl caught the blood
I can imagine that once the husband died, the wife looked at this large castle, and with her children, thought no way did she wanted to be isolated on a mountain, in a big castle, isolated and alone. She probably made the decision to go back home, to Africa. Took cash and probably ended up quite well in Africa. Good for her! I would not want to be isolated high up on the mountain either.
some people would love the isolation from this messed up world and enjoy the solitude of nature and no humans around lol,she prob moved to america and turned that cash into millions
Hey Lesley and Danny your new subscriber here. Thank you so much for doing this video there were a lot of memories in this abandoned and haunted castle you guys so brave to explore the place I wonder why they left this place but to be honest there is no way for me to live this place alone lol. Take care guys and love to see more of yours, this is my kind of things please come to explore in the UK sometimes.
A number of British citizens have moved to France and taken on projects of restoring/renovating French Chateaus'. One is even renovating a French Convent!
I start to see your vid only from a few days ago, this is 17 Jan 2024, and i get really entertained. Yes true that one of the carpet is Mecca. Just info, For us as Muslims, we maynot put that as something to always step on, but usually we use that for rug for prayer, to do salat.
It’s a hospital bed, it even has the handle to help the patient sit up or get up and get off the bed, the husband was sick and died, maybe that’s the parents room, boys.. 35:05
What you are referring to as embroidery is called Needlepoint. What you refer to as a Knitting Box is actually a Sewing Box or Sewing Kit. Knitting requires Yarn. Sewing, thread. I'm a quilter. And I do Needlepoint. Love the adventures you 2 take us on!!!! Please continue.
I am so in love with this room !!!!!!!!! The sewing machine.my mama had a singer.daddy afterc many years made it into an electric one but mamafor many yeRzhad to pedal it.
I love what you are doing and the way you treat all the things in the place thank you for all that beautiful place that you and yous partner show us you are the best off the best 💯👋But please take care off you wen you are going in the old place we love you in Montréal Canada
usually these places are full of junk but this place had some real treasure. some of that stuff is worth lots of money. You should save some of those artifacts like that old book for example
Oh my goodness, sorry to keep writing one line at a time but I find something beautiful time after time and this time the ceiling g in the bathroom in the tower
I rehab'ed my house to make it livable again. It pains me to see such ancient structures falling apart. i wish I was rich for no other reason than to rescue such places. so much humanity is lost when these places rot.
❤ So you all would know better than me, but thinking of English castles aren't they designed so that a sleeping chamber could be made up of 3 room or more rooms. So those oddly connected bedrooms might have normally have been set up as room one was the receiving room, lead to the sitting or reading room, leading to the actual bedroom. I'm assuming at the time castles are built, residents spent lots of their time in the heated set of rooms, and taken care of by servants. But these residents had it set up as 3 connected bedrooms. Just curious.
Esses tipos de propriedades !consome seu tempo seu $$$! ainda mais no nosso tempo, viver so pra cuidar do lugar!! Trocaria por um bom apt ou casa de tamanho médio, moderna !!
So, that museum like room was the mancave, and the formal one was his France,(and a couple of other rooms), but the rest seem to be for the children African heritage, and the mom of course, that’s good for the family.. 39:36
what blows my mind is alot of these places are handed down from family to family and then 1970s ,1980s, 1990s, just 2 family members left , then one dies , last family member on own dies, or moves into a carehome , and thats it the whole linage of familys endid stopped , from 1700s to 1990s finished. its a strange time we live in , you litterally need 2 or 4 million just to repair the basics , roof, wiring, brickwork, woodwork, glass, flooring, plumbing,labour.... and if you did have 2 million , you still need atleast 2 million to live on and upkeep,

What you call "adventure" the law calls "trespassing".
Why you would go through others' family memories uninvited is the real question.

Some of this castle are beautiful
The satee or sofa and chairs are beautiful ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Time 15:07; the chandelier was made out a yoke for a pair of Oxen. It looked like it was missing the pieces that would have went under their necks.
What a fascinating find .
@@WilliamJackson-le5vj Let’s hope so!

I absolutely love watching your videos!!
Love the opening music!
Fantastic this you video,,like everything this history,,yeah,,good. Thank you very much this 👌😄〰️〰️🖼🎨🏛💞〰️〰️
It was a great tour, thank you.
It’s a hospital bed, it even has the handle to help the patient sit up or get up and get off the bed, the husband was sick and died, maybe that’s the parents room, boys.. 35:05
Awesome video
Beautiful
What you are referring to as embroidery is called Needlepoint.
What you refer to as a Knitting Box is actually a Sewing Box or Sewing Kit. Knitting requires Yarn. Sewing, thread.
I'm a quilter. And I do Needlepoint.
Love the adventures you 2 take us on!!!! Please continue.

usually these places are full of junk but this place had some real treasure. some of that stuff is worth lots of money. You should save some of those artifacts like that old book for example
Thank you
I would love to see that Castle. 😊 Where can I find it?
Love the yellow flowers on the bellow! 56:02
Oh my goodness, sorry to keep writing one line at a time but I find something beautiful time after time and this time the ceiling g in the bathroom in the tower
That black stick hanging by the bees’ door is a weapon, to hit people/enemy on the head or anywhere else.. 48:59
What beautiful countryside.
Lesley I'm glad you are there to correct Danny when he is wrong. Great explore thank you.
Very cool...
Nice instrument
Esses tipos de propriedades !consome seu tempo seu $$$! ainda mais no nosso tempo, viver so pra cuidar do lugar!! Trocaria por um bom apt ou casa de tamanho médio, moderna !!

So, that museum like room was the mancave, and the formal one was his France,(and a couple of other rooms), but the rest seem to be for the children African heritage, and the mom of course, that’s good for the family.. 39:36
C’est vraiment Triste ca! 😭😭😭
Oh yes the tapestry with the beautiful woman and dog is just wonderful, su h a shame that they are going to waste
what blows my mind is alot of these places are handed down from family to family and then 1970s ,1980s, 1990s, just 2 family members left , then one dies , last family member on own dies, or moves into a carehome , and thats it the whole linage of familys endid stopped , from 1700s to 1990s finished.
its a strange time we live in , you litterally need 2 or 4 million just to repair the basics , roof, wiring, brickwork, woodwork, glass, flooring, plumbing,labour.... and if you did have 2 million , you still need atleast 2 million to live on and upkeep,
Nice Bello
