7-eleven hot dogs were my go to, even growing up in NYC. It is not the same these days, toppings are all in small packets by me, and the buns are usually individually wrapped and hard.
I graduated to Grays Papaya in high school (in Chelsea) and back then we used to sneak out at lunch and run 8 blocks to get a $2 recession special. Those were the days. Miss that 8th street & 6th location. It was iconic
We only have kwick trips and holidays here in Minnesota

My first corporate job was with Southland Corporation in 1980, they owned most 7/Elevens at that time. In our office we had the world's smallest 7/Eleven and in there you could buy all the hot dogs you wanted for 25 cents a piece, and because we were in Dallas Texas the did not have red onion sauce but we were 17 years old and stomach made of cast iron, some days I just hand them a 5 dollar bill and take 8 hot dogs and a big gulp and still have change coming. I am 60 now and can't stand to go into a 711 now days. Love the video keep up the great work showing us the hot dogs of your city. Also 5.8 is way to generous lol
@4:24 - im in the longer the better camp btw. i saw this vid was 22 minutes and I was happy. I know tons of us love longer format, but not sure how it looks on your end though. but yeah, happy to get more content, so dont apologize :-)

What i do is bring in my own bigbuns from home and use those and get 2 of the big bite hotdogs. The only thing that sucks is the 7 eleven's near me they never have onions or relish or sometimes mustard so its one of those you just have too show up at the right time when all the ingredients are good. I still think the Hot Dog Stands are where your going to find the best dogs. Only reason I say this is because they focus only on the Hotdog. They put their hearts into that profession. Venues that cook, and serve other items just tells me they are not committed to the love, and passion of dog cookery, lol.
I think your better off wasting your time, and ratings with actual New York Hot Dog stands in my opinion. If nothing else have a folder of nothing but New York Stands, and a folder for Hot Dogs with different venues? Just a thought. I know I’m crazy lol.

I didn't have a 7-11 had a local convince store 3 dogs for a buck they only had ketchup and mustard, ate that every day for ever.

The 7-11 by me what they do if the buns are stale is they get fresh ones out of the packages they are selling in the store when I went to elementary school which was a block away I'd sometimes go home for lunch and my mom would give me money and I'd get two dogs a bag of chips and a big gulp for around 5 bucks

One of my coworkers once had a 7-11 Hotdog for breakfast, he said he had the worst squirts ever. He said he would never buy a 7-11 Hotdog again.

I gave you such a hard time about cleanliness in a previous video, and I'm probably the worst, not caring about gloves, etc..as it turns out, I have an excellent immune system.. Thank you dirty NYC food servers..😂
Like you I'm surprised how good the hot dog taste I've seen other hot dog reviews and every time they all have posted their RUclips results, even that red and his comedian partner rated the 7-Eleven high in taste. I guess it all depends on where you get it if you're in a so so area 7-Eleven chances are it's not going to be great if you're in a high end community 7-Eleven I'm sure it's going to taste better. Thanks for your videos during these times of stress very enjoyable!

I was thinking it all looked pretty decent, but I’d have been worried about the bread and the hanging down from the spout mustard, eeeuuuuccchhhh, the guy behind the counter looked like he was away to put fresh bread in the warm drawer. No 7/11 for me I think.

Are most hot dogs in NYC snappy? Ive had several in NYC through the years and my poor memory recalls snap dogs. Ive been living in Va Beach for 30 yrs and our hot dog restaurants serve snap dogs but no grocery stores sells a snap dog. None have casings. I've experimented with a few of my own chili recipes and have recently learned most local hot dog vendors purchases their chili at Restaurant Depot. Most local dogs are either Nathans or Boars Head. Most all dogs at the many many vendors are good but pretty much taste the same. Although, vendors buying cheap dogs can be mushy.
They are all snappy because of the casing.

Update, went to 7 eleven, had No hotdogs, only had two cheddar style dogs? So I got one, mustard, ketchup, added mayonnaise? And hot sauce , it was Not warmly cooked, man 7 eleven let me down

The worst hot dogs & customer service in the world. There’s a rat that resides in my local one. Horrible buns also. Wawa has better hot dogs.
