  • This is the first time to this event as well.
I liked the woods part of the course much more than the grass track sections. The woods were fast a flowy except for a few technical sections. I was happy to have a dry race - although chilly.
I had several close calls the first lap and a half - while the video was running. I made the pass for 3rd the second lap. I took it too easy my third lap and got passed half way through the last lap. We swapped positions a couple of times until we came up on a bottleneck with several bikes piled on top of each other and riders. When that started to clear, to my surprise, he went ahead of me. That was ok, because the battle was back on. Not long after I hit a root / rock combo and got tossed over the bars. So, the fun battle was over with that.
I was happy to run up in 3rd and this is my best GNCC finish yet. One more round left.

Tough to see ahead when you are standing in this one. Good one to watch your footwork.

Yeah- that's because AMA has been more strict about there ban on helmet-mounted cameras. So, this one is chest-mounted. it's better most of the time than I thought it'd be. But I am working a better solution for the next couple of rounds. If you compare it to a helmet mounted pov you get more of the actual bike motion, elevation change, bike angle, and body movement that's going on though.

I like to watch chest-mount for those reasons. I like to see the handlebars and get a better feel for the effects of the terrain on the rider. I'm envisioning a point of view about 4 feet behind and 2 feet above the rider where everything from the trail ahead to the seat of the bike would be in the frame. Would be maybe impossible in the woods but maybe could achieve it with one of those sticks??
Anyway, I'm a new fan of yours. I like your style. I'm a 50B racer so I'm learning from your videos...I hope. @@philipcaudill626

SXCS, USSE, NEPG, and a recent try at VCHSS. I've done one SETRA enduro and one ECEA enduro. @@philipcaudill626 That course looks fantastic! Usually, the GNCC courses make me never want to try a GNCC ever!
