Idk I hate this gameplay loop of RSS spam. It has higher MVs that TCS. And also the charging mechanic is god awful for console/controller players. Maybe with focus and rebalanced MVs it'll be really great tho
@@Hectic2525 it is a bit spammy, but you're still doing smaller combos in between less valuable openings which keeps it a little more interesting. im purely happy ig finally gets a strong move that isn't annoying to pull off or handle like diving wyvern. i don't know if ig needs anymore nerfs either chief. the weapon has gone through so much shit from base world onward. Cyclone slash is very powerful yes, but it's not that good on smaller targets, you still have to make sure you're in a position to get all the hits and it dumps all of your extracts for using it in which you have to waste a little time gathering them back. i personally think the payoff of it being so powerful is worth.but yes controls dogshit

@@Pragles since you're using a PS controller, have you tried using gyro? It can solve alot of problems. On Switch some speedrunners used it for MHRSunbreak Bow runs to track the monster head close up
@@Gomeshiro i didn't even realize gyro was available for kinsect controls. i probably still won't use it tho, i've never been a big gyro user tho. it feels awkward for me to move the whole controller around. 😅
@@Pragles gyro can be enabled whenever you hold/toggle L2, it works for anything: slinger, hook, focus, gunner reticle if its anything like Dragon's Dogma 2 gyro, you can pump up the sensitivity slider so you won't have to turn the controller that much
Good news! i heard that capcom has taken all of the feedback into account and are adjusting the control inputs for some moves, and are adding a bounce or two for the aerials.
im absolutely loving the new moves. rising cyclone is so good and going to get even better once we get the full game hopefull7, but the controls for pads are very annoying to get use to.

i think my biggest issue with wilds ig (as a pc user so controls isn't too bad) is the fact they made it into a charge weapon. it just makes even the ground combos feel clunky to me.
the charge is definitely not the easiest to get use to, it's especially weird whenever you wanna roll out of the way or incorporate the charge in between your other ground combos.

Optimal loop is probably hold O to charge while weaving in Triangle attacks then doing the full whirlwind combo now right ? Im honestly cool with that since the combo looks cinema af but the controls seriously needs to be changed, along with forward thrust too, that shit is so slow now.
for downs and bigger openings, yes. but you can let go if he does a move without much recovery and do your smaller moves. just make sure you're using focus mode for the extra kinsect attacks.
and yes controls need updating, the new forward thrust maybe slow, but you can close distances with it pretty well. you can also move in whichever direction you want if you're in focus mode. i do miss the enhanced dual thrust from previous games tho 😅
i find leaping into the air and maneuvering accordingly when needed into descending thrust and rising spiral slash when there are no big openings also helps to do some damage or at least something. i find myself being a tad passive when only waiting for an opening for Strong Descending Slash > Rising Spiral.

exactly, helicopter being gone is not a good idea still, but there's so many more things you can still do with the weapon that are so much cooler and effective. it's getting old seeing people doompost about this weapon
I still don't like it not because of the dmg but because it's not aerial anymore. The main reason why I prefer Sunbreak over Iceborne is literally because Insect Glaive in Sunbreak is just the epitome of the word AERIAL. It was so fun darting around mid air while fighting a flying monster. Forcing a flying monster to fall down is satisfying and it was what made me love Insect Glaive in both Iceborne and Sunbreak. How the sky king has fallen. Removing all that in Wilds is basically removing the fun and identity of the Insect Glaive for me. Aerial will be missed
Honestly, I still like the new aerial move set. DarkHero made a tutorial on the aerial + ground combo + rising slash + focus strike and it is GOOD. But I do hope they'll remap some of the buttons on the final game since they were a bit awkward.
aerial still has a good amount of tool. even tho helicopter was gutted, you can still cancel it into descending thrust which is super cool! all the other moves as well are god sends for this weapon if they don't nerf in full release. im very excited for the future of ig.
For the rising spiral attack, they should reserve a slot in the kinsect charge for each color, I've seen multiple time that you got all three colors in the rising attack but one of them got overridden by a duplicate and you ended up not getting triple buffs because of it
In general too, they should make it that if your kinsect is holding a color, it can't hold a duplicate of that color since there's no benefits in him having 2 reds in hand, for example
It looks a little lackluster when, after performing the cyclone slash, your character just drops down. I wish there was an aerial follow up for a finisher after cyclone. It could make the rotation loop feel more complete.
Aside from the other questionable things controls are just god awful. They should've bind new charged attack to the finish of triangle combo instead of double slash for example, idk, but right now charging it is just pain in the ass. And why do we have to turn focus mode on at all times for kinsect to attack? It's stupid af. Great run!
Great run! I have to ask tho, why do i barely see ig runners do the Descending Thrust? Can you not do it after the tornado attack, or is the damage too low?
you can do it after Rising spiral slash but you have to have red extract. descending thrust is still going to be your main tool for vault chase down punishes, but it did get a huge damage nerf. i think it lost like 20 something total motion value compared to iceborne's DT. Descending slash is like 144 total MV so that's the one i opted doing the most before RSS

It may be an unpopular opinion, but I do love the new IG gameplay for Wilds! Used IG a lot in World and Iceborne, so Im quite fine with this iteration as long as it is fun! Though, Im somewhat uncertain how it plays with Controller. Played with Keyboard and Mouse which felt great in World!
i heard keyboard and mouse was much easier to play on the weapon. i play controller so it's definitely harder to play, but if you have the dexterity, it's not the worse to get use to on controller. Wilds IG was definitely not fun at first but once i got used to the new controls, the new moves are really fun to use. rising cyclone slash is one of my favorite moves we've gotten in a long while (Rip Awakened Kinsect Attack tho). it is sad to see alot of people say the weapon is dead just because helicopter is gone, even tho the weapon got so much cool shit.

it's definitely alot more different coming from rise, but it's quite fun. getting use to the control may take some time tho and there's a couple bugs with charged bug harvest that needs some fixes.

How can people have this clarity while mine looks like a bad rendered ps1 game 😭 don’t know if at this point I should buy it for the ps5 , I get that I have a couple point below the recommended vram but even world with the higher texture pack that goes 1gb and a half over my vram runs like magic , wanted to pre order it immediately but I’ll have to wait for the demo and try it on both (yes I get that this is a bullshit old version simply to test network stuff and get some feedback but still, runs like shit for me and many other with set ups light years above mine )
im actually on ps5. yeah pc is really not optimized for this game. monsters with shit textures, literally losing body parts, inconsistent framerates and very washed out textures. i feel bad for you guys, hopefully they do fix that, cause that's unacceptable.
capcom hosted a community stream awhile back showing that it they've added it back and made some other changes to the weapon by also giving it it an offset at the beginning of descending slash. we won't get those changes tho until the full game release, they won't be present in beta 2
brother, i don't just speedrun all the time. i play the game casually too when im making sets or playing with other people. i still speedrun cause that's also what i enjoy doing with my time. play the game how you want to and don't worry about what other people are doing chief. 👍

I liked insect glaive a lot in the beta, only thing I need to get used to is making sure I get red buff when I do the ultimate spinny move

you can do any aerial while you're in the air. they will be un-enhanced tho. but if you have red extract you can charge a descending thrust.
