Purgatory is comprable to the Aggressor, Ground Control is more akin to a Rekon or Ardent. I was impressed with the new T series Butcher and Eliminator that came on the Stumpy Evo I demoed, but I've also ridden the previous versions and wasn't impressed. I currently run Assegai/DHR2 for reference.
Been running Vittoria Martello front and Agarro rear, both 29x2.35. Trying out Kenda Booster Pro front and rear this year, both 29x2.4 SCT, to reduce weight over the Vittorias.
Gotten to be a fan of Vittoria and WTB, but my Fuel EX has the stock Bonties on my DT Swiss rims because they're surprisingly grippy and resillient on loose or chunky stuff. My stock rims have Vitt Agarros, i run them in the winter because here in the high-desert where i live, we have a lot of paved trails and rock-hard hardpack, and they're quiet, fast, and long wearing while still grippy on moderate chunk.
Do you think the Aggro frt/barzo rear could be a fast grippy combo for short travel trail bike for mostly hardpack with dusty/sandy/loose over hardpack? I'm curious also how the Aggro compares to a Dissector for the front?
I think it's important to look at tires as they are NOW. 6 years ago, or so, if you had recommended Continental tires to me, I'd have tuned you out because they tended to self destruct. About 2 years ago I got talked into trying them again and I'm a huge fan now! For my short travel 29er and my wife's SB5, a Trail King front, Mountain King rear combo is perfect for our riding. I've spent several hundred miles on them in Moab without any damage at all! Nice rolling, and if you like a DHRII up front, but it's too much, the Trail King is a good "lite" substitute.

- I already ride Minion DHR & DHF so now I done needs sumz züümier for _flow_ baby! (No co$t ceiling) *27.5"!!*
Michelin tubes are the best out there. The C4 airstop combines the benefits of sealant and the simplicity of a tubed tyre. No burping and no punctures.
I would like to see a review on a vittoria mazza
I've been riding michelin mtb tires for the past 25 years. The comp s light, hot, wildgripper, jet just to name a few.
Magic Mary forever! Also the new Big Betty is great for the rear.
Super cool video, but what do you think about Onza tyres?
Haha, mix and match is what I'm all about! I have a trek, I have the first gen specialized z cage and a specialized bottle on my bike.
The z cage was a carry over from my stumpjumper and I see no reason to buy something different and a friend of me whole heartedly recommended the high quality version of their bottles when my old and trusty camelback burst during a ride.

Hi guys i Am from Europe Portugal to be exact i Need a good rear tire 26 wheel to get good traction maybe a 2.3 / 2.4 wire what do you guys recomend?
This video is exactly what I needed.
I had so many questions but now I know that your jokes are about as bad as my pickup lines. I’m no hipster but I’d ride a tan WTB Resolute tire for you. Side note: 4:43 😍💪🏻
I am a German and its so funny to here you saying. Schwolbee oder Hanse Dämpf 😅
Onza Ibex 2.4 front and rear
Vittoria Barzo - Wife's perfered tire
Vittoria Aggaro - Daily preferred tire
Vittoria Mazza - Enduro mode tire
I put the Barzo on my daughter’s bike and it’s been great so far
So Agarro front / barzo or mezcal rear a great combo? for riding aggressive on smoother hardpack and flow trails with some loose/sandy/dusty over hard
@@marcg611 The Barzo is supposedly a do it all/ all condition tire (they handle mud as well). The trails here right now are mostly dry with some muddy spots, and my daughter seems to do well on them. You may want to checkout the webpage to see if the tires match your conditions
@@tracymcmanus550 barzo is nice on a "downcountry" bike, but some unexpected wash-outs on wet stones/roots made me switch to something bigger and softer
Sounds like I need to try some other brands to see what their rubber is all about!
I've been a big fan of Continental over Maxxis for about 3 years now. A much better overall tire.
I've been running a set of Specialized Butcher tires that I got for free and they been great. Better then Maxxis imo.
I have always used maxxis (assegai and dhr) and that is what normally comes with my bike. I am very satisfied with their tires but I would also like to experiment with different types of tires for sure. I usually tend to buy tires that are less than 60$ if i can or even 50$ at times. I think WTB makes some good tires at that price but haven't checked in a while...
I love my schwalbes. Magic mary 2.6 front and rear. It took a while to get used to pumping up my tires at the bottom of transfers but wow do they grip when you grab he brakes
I run the vittoria mota on the front and the martello on the rear year round
On my epic evo, i switched from ground control / fast trak to racing ray / racing ralph ... so i have non specialized tires on a specialized bike, is that ok ? ;)
I'm running Vittoria Mazza in the front and Martello in the rear. I cannot help but thinking that they could work better the other way 'round, especially in the wet. Maybe will test that later, or a combination with Mazza rear and a Mota in the front.
I've heard the Martello up front is sketchy. I know others who run the Mazza/Martello combo and really like it.
@@mrvwbug4423 Ok, so Mota in the front it will be then, because I found Mazza sketchy on wet roots last fall. Maybe Mazza in the rear, or the Martello that I was earlier running there.
Actually I've been running the Mazza in the front all winter and found it working great in packed snow.
BTW, I really like Vittoria casings, they have rubber inserts protecting the bead, for which in Maxxis you have to go to DD casing.
I ran the Martello and mazza for a month and didn't like the mazza at all.
@@chadson5244 I think Mazza would work better as a rear than in the front. But, yes, I have mixed opinions of that tyre.
Continental here. On my XC bike Mountain King previous generation as front and Cross King as Rear. On an urban set up Traffic.
On my NP Scout Trail King front and Mountain King last generation rear. Very disappointed from that Mountain King. Almost no gripp.
I have a specialized tire on my Trek
WTB solid back up rubbers
Everybody that loves the DHF should try the Mazza, since it's the same designer and use case. And the Mazza comparable to the DHF exo 3c is $65. I'm getting much better mileage out of the Mazza than I did on mostly any Maxxis.
