If you're someone like me that doesn't bullet journal, how do you keep track of ur daily tasks? Let me know! :D p.s: I didn’t think I would have to reiterate this, but please don’t think I’m bashing on bullet journaling! It’s honestly such a great hobby and I personally still watch a lot of bullet journal videos cuz they’re so interesting! This video was made as a reminder to anyone that might feel overwhelmed with maintaining one, or may just not vibe with it as much as they thought they would! Thats simply all! Thank u for watching!💕 love y’all
I've also tried bullet journaling and I was never able to keep it going with all the doodling, I never really tracked anything on my trackers for more than a week, so now I just write down what I have to do as daily lists on a simple planner or even on some notebook I have around
I just want to point out that the original creator of the bullet journal system, Ryder, never used doodles or habit trackers or full on water color paintings. It was just a place to write down tasks that need to be done in a way that helps you not forget. Don’t feel like you NEED to decorate a bullet journal or keep track of how many times you floss if it’s not something that works for you. I’d recommend checking out the original video explaining how the system works. In that video, it’s strictly hand written notes, no doodles or anything. However, in the end, it’s your choice if you want to bullet journal or not. There’s no pressure to do anything you don’t want to do or if it doesn’t work for you. I just feel like the bullet journal community has gotten so obsessed with decorations and sketching that the original purpose has been lost.
Absolutely. I'm pretty peed at the 1000s of online people using the term when it's creative journalling they are talking about not the bullet journalling method.
and?? people hating on artistic journalers refer back to him but it was actually him that said to make it your own. I’m a creative person and being creative helps with my anxiety, I’d rather it be aesthetically pleasing to the eye as well as practical than plain. To me that would be boring and I won’t use it. There’s no right or wrong way to create a bullet journal nor is it anyone’s business how people want to do THEIR layouts
@@EvelynRobinson22 not hating at all. I think the more creative journalling is beautiful and very worthwhile. However, when I see 'bullet' mentioned in a description and there's no sign of the 'bulleting/tracker/even indexing' design elements of RC I fail to see why it's called bullet journalling. Not hating at all. 😊 As I say I love the creative ones also.
Amanda Brown True. I have found after watching a LOT of Bullet Journal videos, that are lot are more focused on the (art) layouts, than the functionality or they’ll rule up all the pages, but don’t really go into detail about the different pages
That’s why I like art bullet journaling i don’t use my journal as an agenda or whatever I use it to make creative fun spreads about my life or things that i like (i.e: movies, shows, music)
@@Anasyub I highly reccomend watching journal with chloe! she has a few traditional bullet journal videos as well as some art/fun journaling spreads! I really enjoy her tv/film bullet journal videos
For me it turned out to be an artistic outlet. I started bullet journaling because I could never find a planner I was fully happy with. When I started, I thought I was just going to have a very simple and minimalistic journal but I was surprised by how much I enjoyed decorating it. I wouldn't say I'm an artist but I enjoy creating from time to time and always wished I created more art but never had the inspiration. So for me, decorating my bullet journal works wonders for that. I dont see it as useless time. It makes me happy and is sort of meditating. But at the same time I see why people get pressured into making their journals cute and super decorated. In the end it's a tool for you to get more productive so you should do what works for you!
I have an extremely minimal bullet journal. It's basically just lists: daily to dos, ideas, little projects. No spreads, no illustrations, no trackers.
Mine is v minimal but I use weekly trackers as a sort of to-do for taking care of myself! Like taking my meds and using my sun lamp because I don't feel it's necessary to clog my to do lists with them but I won't rememeber them otherwise lol
I think most people just started forgetting the whole purpose of bullet journaling and that's why are hating on it... it's sad though because when Ryder Carroll created the system, it was literally made to make lie easier, not making you overwhelmed with 500 supplies! If you like making it funky and/or artistic, it's supposed to be your choice! It was supposed to be MEANT TO WORK FOR YOU!
the irony is that the people who have busy lives, need to plan but don't have time to. whereas, the people who have more free time, want to plan but don't have anything to plan.
Yeah, but not really... there's an old saying: "Fail to prepare, prepare to fail". If you're too busy to plan what you're doing, you're probably doing the wrong things.
-Pika Girl- for me it depends on the time of the year, during school I’m very busy while during summer break (now) I have nothing to do... so I change my bullet journal based on that and usually just have a monthly overview along with some space for dailies if I know I’ll be doing something that day plus a habit tracker to make sure I take my meds (plus birth control and vitamins), to track when I shower so that I don’t shower too often or not often enough (yes I’ve gone a week without showering before without realizing it had been a week before I started my bujo and I’ve had days where I would shower 5 days in a row because I couldn’t remember when the last time I showered was... summer vacation messes my internal clock up), to make sure I’ve called my great grandma (she’s almost 90 and very lonely during these times, so I try to make sure I video call her everyday) and to make sure I eat proper meals since I forget to eat during summer vacation as well
If you're busy don't even think of bullet journaling. Get a a normal planner and decorate it when you have free time if you want to make it cute or personal. I'm a student so my summers are basically free. I use this time to add some stickers and colors to my planner for all year long. When school starts I dont worry about decorating and just get stuff done while still having a cute planner.
I hate bullet journaling because my life is so boring I don't have anything to write down 😅 I think that having a super beautiful aesthetic journal is quite unrealistic and impratical wich ends up killing the purpose of having a bullet journal in the first place.
i also have a very boring life but i use minimalistic aesthetic and new hobbies to make it look cute for myself, i love watching bujo vids but i hate decorating it myself with stickers and washi tapes and doodles i just dont like that in my journal 🤧😊
The original creator explained very clearly that your bullet journal can be ANYTHING : a diary , scketchbook , planner , study notes etc. The biggest mistake in having a bullet journal is to feel pressured to doodle or paint or use washi tape , stickers and making it perfect while the point is making it FUNCTIONAL - what works for you. You're not creating or desinging your bullet journal for the instagram or pinterest or another human being but you! Plan what / how / when you feel to and what you need. If you want insta bujo and that works for you then it's fine , if you want minimal planning that's fine as well , the major point is that both of these options ARE a bullet journal ! Don't feel like you need a cute planner! Don't feel like you need tha fanciest notebook , pens and markers! Don't feel like you're making it for a stupid picture! Don't feel like others have to like it! It is your time , your life , your personality on the paper and your freacking business! You do what works for you , but that doesn't mean an artistic or aestetic spread or painting in your journal makes it anything but a bullet journal! Same with the plain version! It's your choice and the way you plan is unique because you are unique and your bujo is beautiful so are you!💚
I think it's important to remember, too, that the people that post their bullet journal spreads to hundreds of thousands of subscribers on youtube are... literally just doing their job. They're doing it for their living, and they get to carve out a big chunk of time to do it because they're making subsistence-level wages off of it. You not having the time/energy to bullet journal isn't your fault, it's the nature of your living situation (and also the fetishization of productivity that is an inherent factor of late-stage capitalism... but we won't get into that).
Why do people think that the bullet journal method should be cute? Oh my God, PLEASE WATCH RYDER CARROLL'S VIDEOS. He is the creator of the bullet journal method and the bullet journal is designed to be AS SIMPLE AS POSSIBLE.
At the same time... Most people love planning and making everything look cute at the same time. You don't like it? Don't do it. I have a regular planner for most days and another notebook for bullet journaling and I use both of them. I haven't touched my bujo for 3 weeks and I never thought anything of it, I'm just not feeling that artistic so I'm using my planner...
I don't think they intend it to be cute only, they took the idea and created something where they merged planning with art. Don't put that down, both methods work, both methods are great and both make people happy.
I find it so ironic the idea of “bullet journaling” moved from being as simple as possible to complicated/artsy spreads. Either is fine, whatever works for you, but I wish we had different words to distinguish the two!
“Why I hate bullet journaling” videos are always more about “why I hate ART bullet journaling”. Give yourself permission to have the worlds ugliest bullet journal, and you might find that the system is amazing.
Sure ! My bullet journal looks so basic and boring ... But is very efficient and takes no time, the problem is not bullet journaling but perfectionnism and wanting it to look like a piece of art
@@user-ee1fn4vt8b I mean it's a productivity tool, but not all people use it that way. Many people do 'creative journaling' and use it as an artistic outlet.
@@aby1061 But you really don't have to use much time at bullet journaling. I use only 5-10 minutes every night, but still it's pretty neat and cute, and it makes me a lot more productive than any other type of planning that I've ever tried.
Bu Jo is for productivity. When someone spend tons of hours decorating it then finally is so tired and have no time for all those tasks. Just a thought.
@@erinnichols4866 I did not write that she can not decorate. The meaning of my message is that from definition Bullet Journal should be as simple and clear as it can be to achieve productivity. But when someone has a lot of time and wants to have art journal which calls "Bullet Journal" then why not. However my honest opinion is that then we should stop call it bullet journal. Some people feel good siting at the table and drawing so she draws and decorate journals. Maybe it cures anxiety or something. For example I call my journal not Bu Jo but simply "Time management center". That means it has bussiness feeling and my purpose is to do things, not to sit and write. But for journaling I have different journal, the same for my sketches.
Then it doesn't become bullet journals. It supposed to increase productivity because it forces your to focus on tasks. When someone turns it into art, it no longer serves its purpose. Meaning of bullet journal is lost.
I don’t like the pressure of not making a mistake in a book I can’t rip the pages out of. I would try to make it so pretty and neat and the time it took me to do it took forever. I never ended up using them for anything with the fear of making it look ugly. Once I got my iPad, I started digital planning (I use Goodnotes). So much better for me. No pressure, easy for me to duplicate spreads and import templates and planners from Etsy, and I can ERASE and delete stuff.
Chloe_Aku | this is partially why i like(d) photo edits instead of physical art, the idea that you can easily undo mistakes or restart and you haven't "used up" material
YES. This is so true for me - It really is a strange artificial pressure isn't it. Please, I really recommend digital journaling or using your calendar/notes app (or get one from the app store) and just admitting to yourself that there are specific types of people who are simply not meant for bullet journaling - and all the pressures that they _technically_ don't impose on you, but are, in reality, very present, much to many's intuitions. The amount of notebooks I have left untouched just because I used them for something that I later regretted is shameful, and such a waste.
i was about to say !!! most people nowadays are convinced bullet journaling HAS to be cute and aesthetic and everything but that's missing the whole point of the actual method
@@geumhaestudio8297 Yees! That was never even the point of the system. If all you need the journal for is cute weekly spreads, then a regular planner should be fine. The system is meant to help you organise your life when a planner is just not cutting it. It's meant to be efficient and helpful, not cute.
Urban .Fairytalez bruh just let people do spreads how they want to wether that be cute artsy style or simple and minimal. it’s all based on preference. don’t bash people just cuz they want to do things a little differently
@@lindseysg I wasn't trying to bash anyone, sorry if it came out that way. I was sharing my experience/opinion on the subject. It's just a comment, it was not intended to make anyone do anything differently. the maker of the video shared why it didn't work for her and so I shared my thoughts about it, but it wasn't not meant as a critique but more of an observation
I think in my other comment I mentioned that when I have time I also make cute or artsy spreads, while when I don't I do minimal ones. I was just sharing what the system was intended for- that doesn't mean it didn't grow and change over time. So I am all for anyone using it in any manner that works for them. This was just a comment, no ill intention in it
Y’know, the thing that’s frustrating to me is the fact that it feels like the whole bullet journaling community has become so focused around aesthetic that they’ve forgotten what the whole point of a bullet journal *is*. If people want to do artsy stuff, that’s fine! But it has lead to anyone new to bullet journaling feeling pressure to perform, when instead it’s simply meant to be a tool to help you organize your thoughts. I have ADHD. Regular planners don’t *work* for me. They’re too restricting, and they never have what I need. I have to write down *everything* because if I don’t, I’ll forget, or it simply won’t get done because of failed to turn a fleeting thought into something concrete enough for me to actually do something with. Planners simply don’t have enough space to hold all of those notes-when I used one in the past, the margins were so full of random notes that it was nearly impossible to get any use out of those notes at all. If I use a separate notebook for these notes, a consistent system becomes harder to maintain because my attention is split and things often fall through the cracks. With a bullet journal, I don’t have those problems, because I can design it to suit my needs, and make notes anywhere I please in no particular order, because I have an index to refer to if I need to remember where I wrote down that grocery list from last week. There isn’t really a point to this. It’s just frustrating that something that was designed by a person with ADHD to work with *his* brain has become a trend based around aesthetics that has lead many ADHDers, myself included, away from the core guiding principles of the bullet journal and away from a tool that could turn out to be invaluable for organizing their messy thoughts because the fluff and details made it impractical to use on a day-to-day basis as soon as they lost interest in it. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with decorating your bullet journal, but I wish there was more information out there that actually focused on practical usage rather than aesthetics, because it prevents a lot of people from getting any use out of it in the first place. In any case, a bullet journal isn’t for everyone. But I would argue that if it doesn’t work for you, than it wasn’t meant for you. But I think a lot of times people’s issues with bullet journals stem from issues with the aesthetic-based culture surrounding it rather than any issue with the system itself, which is an important distinction not a lot of people make. (PS, if you don’t want people to think you’re bashing bullet journaling, titling your video “why i hate bullet journaling.” probably isn’t doing you any favors ;p )
Thank you so much for sharing your perspective and own experiences with bullet journaling! Just like how I was in the video! See, and that’s the thing about the current situation around the bullet journal. It was created with the right intentions and for practical usage like you’ve mentioned! I’m sure there’s lots of people out there that like to use it that way. However, like a lot of things, original concepts and ideas sometimes alter along the way due to current social media trends and so on. Focusing on aesthetics isnt necessarily bad, because that was what originally got a lot of people interested in the activity! Yes, a lot of people aren’t utilizing the method like they’re supposed to, but they find a lot of fun in the artistic value of it. And yes it may be impractical, but if they can handle it then it’s not an issue if they enjoy it. I do apologize for not including further research in the video, but this video wasn’t focused on exploring the history of the bullet journal. It was a video meant to explain my own personal history with it, along with my own misconceptions and opinions about it. However, I do stand by my title because I did state in the video that I hated bullet journaling. I never said it was a terrible activity, but rather something I just personally don’t do well with. Anyways, thank you for taking the time to explain your side and reasons, and for typing out these paragraphs! It’s always nice to hear someone else’s personal stories and opinions.
I bought a very expensive journal, got pens, and highlighters. I force myself to do this because i knew I was wasteful and spent way above my budget to make it somewhat decent. Seeing this make me realize that I’m not the only one that got in this trap. Instead of helping me with anxiety, it just makes me angry and anxious because of the unrealistic expectations.
Imma just copy my comment from another reply, but your experience is so relevant!! I swear it's this artificial pressure where you _technically_ don't need to have an aesthetic bujo, but it might as well be the expectation because that's all anyone thinks about when they hear "bullet journal" 🤦♀️ I saw a friend show her bujo to someone and they deadass said "that's just a to-do list and some dates" lmao. The pressure in the community, and thus the public eye, _is_ there, regardless of whether it's formally announced or not, which is why so many like myself are put off by it (as well as because wasting pages is stressful ahahah)
That's really sad, Diana, and I'm sorry that was your experience. Have you read Ryder Carroll's book? I really recommend it - you can BuJo in anything, you don't need an expensive notebook or pens. My first one was a cheap notebook from a supermarket!
personally i use my bujo for cute art things and quotes. if you go to r/bujo, most people post their minimal bullet journal spreads and it's still really popular. i do think bujournalling has become more like art and decor rather than getting your life in check.
Same, I only use my bujo for arts and doddles when I am free and idc if I skip weeks or months on it when my life gets busy. I have a different notebook that is much smaller and easier to carry around to list all my deadlines, due dates, to-dos, random important notes-to-self, etc. in the simplest way
i use my bullet journal as a diary, to write out my thoughts and emotions. montly goals, some art/ drawings, as well as quotes, and that's basically it. i personally think it's such a hassle to do weekly spread, daily list, mood tracker and stuff.
I think you should try smaller size notebooks?! I tried the A6 and it worked well when i want 1 page a day/ half page a day. Also it was great to carry around.
I loved hearing about your experiences with the bullet journaling system! It was very insightful and I was so surprised to see my video there haha. I completely relate to your sentiment towards bullet journaling. In fact I completely stopped using one last year because I just didn’t feel like it anymore. That’s why it was so important for me this time around to get the message across that I’m doing bullet journaling for me and not for Pinterest or social media. This time my spreads are actually functional and serve a purpose for me. I feel like a lot of people forget about the functionality aspect of a bullet journal, focusing more on the aesthetic aspect of it.
I feel like so many people dont understand that bullet journaling isn't meant to just be aesthetically pleasing and to be a to do list. I started doing it because I'm not great at just straight up drawing, but bullet journaling is helping me get better at drawing and whatnot, while also motivating me to do things that I wouldn't have done regularly before. It's a great way to track things like your mental health, and physical health, etc. Anyways, have a good day :)
I agree with you. After a while bullet journaling became overwhelming for me. Then I stopped and used different planners. Now I use simple weekly planner, it is way useful for me.
Personally, I've been bullet journalling for 3 years now and have found it to be the best for my current lifestyle, as it allows me to plan my busy school schedule but also lets me enjoy being creative, which is therapeutic to me. I do, however, definitely agree that to beginners the "expectations" are pretty daunting, and so it does take some time to develop what works for you.
I got a bullet journal because of instagram/RUclips and all the hype that was going on but after a while it was just stressing me out soooo much!! I wanted it to look pretty but also felt uninspired... I wanted it to be an efficient way to plan my months but it turned out to be another thing on my to-do list... I still have my bujo but I use it to write down my goals now😅 and maybe a monthly overview🤷🏼♀️ but i just ditched the weekly spreads completely 😂😂
Elizabeth Williams I didn’t know that! I totally forgot that there was an “original version”🥰 I’ve heard of it before and I might actually start looking into it☺️ thank you ✨
Mmhmm, I swear it's this artificial pressure where you _technically_ don't need to have an aesthetic bujo, but it might as well be the expectation because that's all anyone thinks about when they hear "bullet journal" 🤦♀️ I saw a friend show her bujo to someone and they deadass said "that's just a to-do list and some dates" lmao. The pressure in the community, and thus the public eye, _is_ there, regardless of whether it's formally announced or not, which is why so many like myself are put off by it (as well as because wasting pages is stressful ahahah)
I think you should read "The Bullet Journal method", or watch the original clip of Ryder himself. It's simple and straightforward. The Bullet Journal in my eyes is "do what ever WORKS for YOU". For example, i'm using the monthly spread, but ignore the monthly list+ full month tracker. I refer to use a weekly tracker instead because it keeps me on track. The Bujo is a tool to plan and organize time to do what i want, so if it sucked my time, then it's time to change the system in my bujo ( and i changed it so many time that i couldnt count =)) )
If you are half and half on bullet journaling(you like the idea but you find it’s too much effort to make it like you see pictures of and you struggle to properly fill it out): Try the clever fox weekly planner (£19.99 on amazon). It’s pretty much a bullet journalthat is laid out for you. It has goals pages, vision board spread, a page to do mind maps, and then it has monthly and weekly spreads. It also has plain dotted pages at the best to do whatever on, and the best part is that it’s undated so you don’t have to worry about when you have to fill it in. You do it at your own pace.
I love bullet journaling but *only in my own way.* I have never been able to find a type of agenda or planner that works for me, so when I discovered this new method, it literally opened my eyes. *I perfectly understand the pressure of having to keep precise and artistic,* I also went there at the beginning, but then I realized *I only needed it to be practical!* I love this method because I can change the spreads whenever I want, (I don't do all of it at once, but month after month) and experiment with new things. I have room for all the trackers and lists that I want and *I draw them with an absurd simplicity* , so it doesn't take me more than a few minutes. Like everything, bullet journaling isn't for everyone and that's alright! The most important thing is that our organization method is helpful and not stressful!
This was exactly what I went through when I started bullet journaling a few years ago. It was legit fun decorating it at first but I ended up not finishing my spreads so I stopped. Then there'll come a time I'd get the feeling to start a new journal again because I didn't want the look of the last one anymore, either so messy or not 'aesthetic' enough. I wasted a lot of notebooks. Then I realized why not just go back to using a ready made planner, and I did and it made my life a whole lot easier. I'm really amazed at people who can do their journal spreads everyday or month. Well, I guess I'm just too lazy to make these spreads all the time.
I also got hooked on all the aesthetically pleasing bullet journal spreads on social media and started one myself. I quickly learned that doing the "traditional" bullet journal set up was not going to work for me. Things I didn't really care for (ie, a habit tracker) were so deeply integrated but other things that were my top priority were difficult to integrate into the existing set up. I started using my journal the way I see fit and realized, I DONT HAVE TO CONFORM TO ANYTHING ANYONE ELSE IS DOING lol it is MY journal and i will use it how i please 😤 haha
And that's exactly what a bullet journal is supposed to be and always has! It's supposed to be something you customize for your own specific needs. With no pressure doing anything. So I'm really happy for you that you eventually saw the light and the way out of the SoMe-maze 😊
Welp I've been trying bullet journaling for years but never really got into it. Until I saw an anime journal and never in my entire life thought of that and I quite like it because it's mostly about shows, character bios, quotes and tropes. It kind of made me realize that bullet journaling isn't always about plans, wishes or to do lists XD
My “bullet journal” is super weird and I accepted that. I write appointments, due dates etc so I can take them out of my brain clutter. But also I use it to journal, brain dump, write at school when I dont have any notebooks around, doodle, draw. My spreads can be pretty, or chaotic (most of them...). It is a frankenstein of profuctivity and mindfullness
honestly I took up bullet journaling for my ADHD and I really need to go back to it because it did help me out. I already knew I was not going to make anything fancy, it was literally just what the founder used plus a list of songs I wanted to dance to. Don't feel pressured to copy other bullet journalers with beautiful spreads! If it works for you, it's good!
i hate bullet journaling because i’m *lazy* because i try to make it fun and color it but it just feels boring. I feel pressured to write when i decorate it. That’s why simply writing my thoughts down with no decoration helps me.
I use a bullet journal every day, and am now on my third year. I have never decorated a page or used washi tape or anything. I just draw out squares for things and the main thing is filling the squares in. I think people need to remember that any decoration is entirely at your discretion and is not necessary for the process to work.
This video really helped me! This is my third year bullet journaling and my spreads are hOrRIblE I mean, sometimes they look cute, but at the end the point is to organize your life and have an argument to use your fancy stationery! As you said, it has become therapeutic for me and yeah, I have to remind myself that it doesn't need to be aEsTHetIc like others Luv u Jem❤️
I’m a fine artist ( on the side) so making my bullet journal “ cute” motivates me to actually use it but omg if this wasn’t my profession I can’t imagine dedicating that kind of time
I am an artist too (BA in painting) and due to depression and anxiety haven't touched a brush in about 5 years. I decided to get into journaling but I HATE the idea o bullet journaling. I run my own business and to do lists and trackers are a must, but honestly they give me anxiety. I don't want to track anything in my spare time, in my personal Journal. I don't want to create these expectations for myself and them to feel pressured by the Bullet journal to make progress on those items... and to feel like shit if I don't. So I bought a big art sketchbook A4 and without lines, and I just go with the flow. Sometimes I just write, like you would write in a Diary. Other times I feel like writing down quotes, or making artsy spreads. Sketching out a still life. Writing down a quote. Without any annoying guidelines or prompts, no tasks to check off the list.
I'm a fine artist too but I totally dislike decorating something that is supposed to be functional. I just need to finish my tasks without forgetting them, that's all. If I want to do art I will either use a sketchbook or create a final piece. But I feel that creating art where you also plan something is a big waste of time in my life.
I'm a professional artist too (Concept Artist), but I prefer to make my planners minimalistic. I already have sketchbooks for my sketches and paintings, and I don't want another one lol. When I had an artsy Bujo, it distracted me from the important stuff. It becomes a beautiful thing to look at, but not to interact with. I need to have those two worlds separated. Maybe it's just my ADHD tho- the simplest thing it's the best for me
Never related so much before. I've always thought of starting a bullet journal, but I knew I would never be able to keep it up. Being busy, and not really a good artist😅, I simply stuck to simple planners. They work great anyways in what I need to get done
I completely understand your point and it's the first time I've seen a video like yours on youtube, so it's nice to see an opinion that's pretty much opposite to what everyone says. Personally, I love bullet journaling -- I used to make my own planners out of blank notebooks before it was even a thing -- not so much for the functionality because I don't have many things to keep track of, and even if I did I would forget to write them down anyway, but because it works as a creative outlet for me. I hardly post pictures online too, I just try to make it pretty to fulfill myself and literally mesh together something functional and my habit of doodling everywhere.
I think there's some phases on bullet journaling: 1. you decide to start and you feel just inspired by others 2. you try to find your own style but you want to be like famous people making bujos. 3. your bujo is not yours anymore and you decorate it but it doesn't really works how it should. 4. you realize that the bullet journal is YOURS and you make in it anything that makes you happy (trackers, drawings, flower stamping, idk lol) And yeah, that's based on my experience tho :)
Originally, a bullet journal just had lists. Like that was the point. Lol so anything works! I designed one that I liked to use when I was just starting bc it has a simple layout that you can customize or use as-is.
I’m trying to bullet journal now. I looked up a ton of minimalist journals because I don’t have to time to sit and make amazing pictures. I do use different colors and I find it therapeutic - but My journal is so simple - and I use it every day and don’t feel pressure to make it cute.
this is the most realistic video I've seen about journaling, I feel more comfortable with writting down how I'm feeling and things that I want to keep or start doing in my life, ir even things I want to cut off my mindset It is healthier to keep it comfortable, if you feel really well doing all these decorations, keep doing them! But don't put pressure on yourself because of these trends
I have a love-hate relationship with writing and have never once finished a journal I started... However, Bullet journaling is the method I’ve been the most consistent with ever. For me the habit of bullet journaling was a compounding experience. I spent a year with a lined pocket notebook doing *just* daily logs, then began doing yearly/monthly logs in January of this year. Inspired by Shayda Campbell’s simple black-and-White aesthetic I decided to try a similar approach and primarily used just one pen, with white pens to “artistically” fix big errors. Haven’t worried about drawing or anything of the like, and just focus on short entries every day to log important memories or tasks. I am a huge procrastinator and it’s legitimately helped me be more organized and more timely in getting tasks done. Reading Ryder Carroll’s book helped lower the barrier for entry as well- painting a picture of how simple and fluid the Bujo method is meant to be. He talks about starting with one tool, and building from there. I was finally able to let myself breath and just experiment with different things knowing it didn’t have to be perfect. This comment is a bit jumbled, but if anyone’s been considering BuJo and is a bit deterred because of the video, please let me reassure you that it’s a more useful tool than you think if used properly! Don’t get caught up in the small details, and just experiment with different things. :)
@@ImJem hi☆ btw I am serious I might have subscribed to you a long time ago and just got a notification I have no idea what your channel is about but seems cool overall
Completely agree that there's an unspoken pressure that bullet journals need to look pretty. I've learnt over the years not to make for Instagram and other social media and it changed my experience as it meant that it can look pretty or plain dependent on my level of energy at the time
I don’t really like bullet journaling as a planner or tracking tool cause fvck that I can just do that stuff on my Apple calendar and notes app or other apps. It’s much more fun to just make random spreads like movies I want to watch, things I want to buy, pros n cons, goals, random thoughts/ideas etc that I can just do when I feel like journaling rather than having a timeline to have to stick to. Idk it just hits differently and is a creative outlet without pressure, plus you can still make pretty spreads. Honestly can’t imagine having to stick to a monthly or weekly spread and doing like 10 trackers at once 😖 respect to the people who can stick to that
Bullet journaling is for people who sre more into writing things, for me jm left handed so my left hand doesnt have much strength and i just get a drawing app, add some text and baboom
See that’s the great thing about having options, everyone’s brain works differently. Some people thrive in an environment with a preset structure. Great, here’s a planer with most things already set up, one less thing to worry about. Some people struggle to fit their life in the prearranged squares. Awesome, here’s a blank book with a bunch of dots all over it, go nuts. Find what’s best for your brain
I started bullet journalling with the basics alongside some pop of color and simple doodles. As months went on, the themes became elaborate and time consuming to the point where I was spending more time decorating the planner instead of planning and organizing my life with it. It also took away time from my main art and I barely practiced because by the time I was done, I was exhausted. I hated it. This year, I decided to go back to simple b&w spreads and with no doodles at all. So far it's been working. I'm able to do more main art and practice and actually used it to plan. It's also easy to set-up. I ordered a blank journal late to the year and it arrived Jan 2 but I was able to all my yearly spreads and January in one night which is nice.
I like watching them, they’re aesthetic but I bought my highlighters to help me organize my notes, lord knows I don’t have time to make a pretty bullet journal. So props to people that do them!
I also don’t like to waste time designing a bullet journal. I’ve chosen a regular dated planner which designs is very close to my daily needs. When I need something different, I use some blank space and it works perfectly. I also try to keep it simple, just use black pen and sometimes a highlighter. I feel that helps me to focus in what’s is really important and if I feel in a mood I do some doodling and decor but that isn’t my aim.
linh thruong literally wrote 2019 instead of 2020 and i messed up the whole year schedule cuz i didnt know how much days february had sweetie, it is totally fine if u dont do it perfectly and i am happy that u dont use it just to be asethetic for ur viewers instead of doing sumthing that works! that is important!
My experience is pretty similar! My counselor recommended bullet journaling to me about half a year ago to help with mental health. I loved the idea, and got together all the supplies and tried my best to make it look as good as what I saw online. But it became draining and I ended up abandoning it for a couple of months. Now I’ve better embraced the idea this it’s suppose to be what works best for YOU and keep it pretty minimal, because that’s the type of journaling that makes me happy and productive. Glad to see someone who can relate, great video! :)
There was a point in time that I’d beat myself up cause I couldn’t draw and make my layouts look fancy. I was always trying to copy what was working for everyone else. I was so unmotivated and left it alone for MONTHS. Once I started two jobs and being more social I needed something to keep track. My layouts now are literally just the monthly calendar and the most simple weekly. That’s all I need and it’s so much easier to keep up with not to mention I use less pages.
What I like about my bujos is that you can see when I have been inspired, creative, busy, unmotivated, or straight up not even having the energy to use it. It's a way to look back at your year and the great thing is it can be as minimal or crazy as you want
I also had that stage of trying to do everything (habit trackers and all that) and making it beautiful. But now, after a year and 4 months of doing it, I know what I like. My bujo has practically 0 doodles or cute lettering, it is much more basic in terms of what I actually write (mostly a little summary of my day and what I need to do). For me, bullet journaling is great. I’ve made it a habit, and I think it helps my life tremendously
As a person who loves and uses an artsy bullet journal I would like to say that a bullet journal doesn't really make u productive but it does make u organised and ur life a bit less hectic
I love bullet journaling because i do it during study hall at my school or i’ll do it at night instead of watching tv. For me it’s therapeutic but I understand how it could be frustrating depending on your schedule
I like making my own planner bc I find that the cheap ones at the store aren’t to my liking. But I don’t do any fancy doodle, I only add what I need, which is calendars to keep track of school work and other activities, AND a spending tracker bc I’m in college and I need to be really careful with my money. Habit trackers seem like a good idea but I know I won’t keep up with it. I think bullet journaling can be good if you tailor it to what YOU need. As opposed to what you see on studyblr.
I have always been terrible at agendas and planners (my memory is just too good 😂) but when I first heard of bujo I loved the idea and I bought 2. One I bought it for my teaching work, it's not so much for my tasks because I'm not used to writing tasks and needing a notebook to reminding me of what I have to do because I do remember it; but what bujo is actually helping me for is to keep all of the information of my classes and students in one place. Before bujo I had like 3 different notebook, note pads, etc and I couldn't find anything, but now I force myself to put it all in my bullet journal and it's been kinda working specially now with online classes. I have been forcing myself to not do any work on weekends so I can "rest", so I use my (still quarantine) weekends to decorate my bullet journal and I love it, it's so therapeutic for me. In January I will begin using the other one as a personal bullet journal. At first I saw a lot of ideas, like trackers and daily tasks but I know me and I know it won't work for me, so I have decided that I will use that one as an scrapbook bullet journal only. I will put whatever it crosses my mind, whatever I want, no rules no nothing. It will be my relaxing therapy for the (hopefully better year) 2021.
i don't really do bullet journals because i feel that it's too planned and even tho i like planning things i don't like actually having to do it :' so since 5 months ago i've been doing art journal!! i basically just do scraps and write things that is going on in my head. I really like it because you don't have to keep updating it like bullet journal do,but you can just do it whenever you feel like it!! For my tasks,i just use some cheap to do lists:)
I'm thinking about starting bullet Journaling too. But I tend to think stuff like "But it has to be pretty, it has to be perfect, other's drawings are better than mine, etc"... But the point, I guess, in bullet Journaling is, to do whatever you want to, without looking "perfect". Maybe this will help to get more structure into my daily life in times of Corona
Bullet journaling is just basically for helping u to keep track of things, it doesn’t matter if it need looks cute or not, but if u love doodling it’s ur own opinion to put it down onto ur journal. And for habit tracker etc. it doesn’t mean that u need to fill up every single day, when u skip some day, in my opinion, it’s fine. It just helps u to keep everything organized. I’ve been journaling for almost 2 years, and I’ve been in love with it✨ no hates JOURNALING HELPS U ORGANIZE UR DAY AND KEEP TRACK ON WHAT TO DO, NO NEED TO BE STRESSFUL TO MAKE IT LOOK CUTE AND IF U HAVE NO SKILLZ ON MAKINH IT LOOKS CUTE NO OFFENSE, JUST STOP JOURNALING! Coz for those ppl who love doing it, it’s kinda offensive.
Just like you I've always wanted to try out bullet journaling since I got pretty much influenced/inspired by social media. And as much as I wanted to start my own bullet journal, because it was and still is a trend, I realized that I wouldn't even have the time for being creative. It's just that I unconsciously pressured myself to make it look cute and aesthetically pleasing. Nowadays I keep up with my daily tasks by writing them down on my phone since I'm using it most of the day :) it's a simple and easy way for me to remind myself
As an inherently creative person I couldnt resist trying out the bujo method, but even as I simplified everything it just wasnt working. This year im going to try out an undated planner where everything is layed out for me and i can tape in or decorate whatever i want without stressing out, or not do that if i dont feel like it.
I think you focused a lot on the spreads and you don’t have to do habit trackers or anything else like that. You can only do the daily logs and you can keep it basic and don’t have to do a lot of fancy things to make a good bullet journal.
I am planning of starting a bullet journal this February, but I am completely fine with my pocket size hallmark planner, and I've been using pocket planners since 2003. Your video made me think twice if I can keep up with a bujo as well.
I really don't get why people feel so pressured with making their bullet journals pretty?? Do it if you want but if it isn't your thing then why??? I decorate when I have time and I feel creative but I don't and never felt the "pressure" to make it pretty.
Completely agree. Bullet journalling at its core is super minimalist and straight forward, it’s a shame there’s such a pressure around making it look good. I just do what I feel like each month as it is a hobby, but some months I’m so busy or tired I just write the months name and a calendar with a to do list, then some months like this month I’ve gone all out and decorated like crazy. Journalling should just be fun, I hate that some people feel shitty because theirs doesn’t look like Pinterest’s :/
It's this artificial pressure where you _technically_ don't need to have an aesthetic bujo, but it might as well be the expectation because that's all anyone thinks about when they hear "bullet journal" 🤦♀️ I saw a friend show her bujo to someone and they deadass said "that's just a to-do list and some dates" lmao. The pressure in the community, and thus the public eye, _is_ there, regardless of whether it's formally announced or not, which is why so many like myself are put off by it (as well as because wasting pages is stressful ahahah). The original vision and method by the creator isn't even that widely known because of all the bujo "inspo" and instagram pages flooded with what seems like a very simple concept - an aesthetic notebook planner - so nobody really feels that there's anything more to read on bullet journaling than just that. I think your comment definitely needs more recognition - it's a system of organisation where traditional planners don't cut it for certain people - and whose philosophy is far less shallow than social media makes it seem (as unintentional as I understand aesthetic bullet-journallers/ studygrams think their impact is).
I was gifted a bullet journal for Christmas and I've really enjoyed it thus far - but that's only happened because I just decided early on that I wasn't going to worry about having a super decorative book. I use it functionally with a bit more of a minimalist aesthetic and it's worked really well. Before, I had notes and tasks and things written in a million different places and could never remember where I'd written anything. For me personally, it's been really nice to have everything centralized in one place. But I also understand that everyone has different preferences and whatnot for staying organized and documenting their days. Different strokes for different folks!
i like the idea of bullet journaling!!!! i usually never rlly finish any month but i love to use it whenever im starting a new semester!!! it helps to like,,, adapting back to busyness
If I did bullet journaling, I will do it according to my own wish. If I want to doodle, I will... if I dont, i won't... if it doesn't look cute, it's fine...
I started bullet journaling recently and I’m really enjoying it (including doodling), but I am a HUGE proponent of minimalist spreads. Just daily to do lists - whatever you need. I need the doodles as a creative outlet/me time. I’m glad you’re not trying to push yourself to keep going with an organization method that didn’t work for you, just because it’s popular online
i bought a bullet journal in 8th grade, tried to start it like 3 times over the course of the year, then gave up. when i was going school shopping this year (10th grade) i decided to get a planner. i’ve pretty much used it every day this year. i think being an absolute perfectionist with a lot of internal pressure to be like the cool studytubers as well as knowing that i had to take time to design spreads and stuff really kept me from going back to the bullet journal.. my planner is fairly simple but i love it so much
The problem with bullet journaling is that it's gone from being its own distinct mix of planning and journaling with a unique bullet system of dividing tasks and notes into types, into just being a personalized planner.
I started out bullet journaling two years ago. I did it for about 6 months and my pages just started getting simpler and simpler until I just stopped picking it up completely. Then I started happy planning and I got tired of lugging my planner and supplies around everywhere. Now I digital plan with the GoodNotes 5 App, I’ve been doing this since September ‘19 and I’m really enjoying it. Very easy and I can do it from my phone or iPad with no problem.
i love bullet journaling, a lot of the time it is really stressful and sometimes i end up skipping months, but now i have three bullet journals from 2017-2019 and it's so much fun looking back on the journal entries i made, my terrible calligraphy, book reviews from books i hated and me defending my bad studying habits being able to look back through a physical book, containing your entire year is the one thing that keeps me inspired to bujo. i wanna be 80 and be able to fondly look back on my youth, the stuff i liked i was obsessed with (twiceeee) etc. with 74 a5 journals lol
I have a Bullet journal, I have been using this system for four years, but i had to accept the fact that my bujo wasn't going to look as cute as those bujos. i always hated the regular planners because I always felt like i was both short in space and there was so much blank space so a journal meant to fit me and my necessities was perfect for me, and yes, i started coping all those pretty jorunals but it's really hard to keep them like that, and also felt like going back to normal journals, but this system was perfect for me, so I had to just be like, okay, it's going to be ugly as fuck but useful, and yeah, if I have time and I'm feeling insoired i will do these pretty spreads, but 90% of my bujo is very very plain, and that's something people need to understant, it's mroe improtant to be practical rather than pretty
i really dont know when people started to think bullet journal was something to decorate so much. if you want to draw and play around with colors, a sketchbook will be perfect.
i started bullet journaling in like 2017-18, and i got REALLY into it but sometimes i didn't have the time to create spreads or anything. so last year i bought a really cute planner and i loved it - until i realized it was too heavy and i couldn't personalize it as much as i wanted to. so i went back to bullet journaling, but i made it simple this time. now i have a ton of free time so i'm gonna prepare some layouts for university, but the most important thing to remember is that it doesn't have to be aesthetic or pretty or a super expensive notebook, it just has to work for YOU.
I would recommend the video "What I was doing wrong in my bullet journal" by Rachael Stephen here on YT. She really breaks bullet jounaling to the basics and makes it less of a task. Very informative.
i've been bullet journaling for i think 3 years now? a friend introduced the idea to me after I had broken up with my ex and my friends noticed I'd gotten busier and was also a compulsive "list-er" and i LOVE it and it feels so therapeutic for me c: I have some spreads that i'm really proud of showing off and there are times when it's super simple like just highlighted dates with no deco whatsoever. But I feel like it works really well with my listing habits and busy lifestyle. Being able to dump everything into my notebook in the form of creativity, tasks, or just pasting a bunch of pictures onto a page of how i'm feeling feels like what I call "controlled chaos" ^-^
I just keep a diary. Can't be asked with that stuff. Too pretty. I find to do lists cute. I feel like having so much inside just feels cluttered and it's a fake sense of productivity because yes you have a bullet journal.... But are you spending more time on organising your life than actually doing those things you planned for?
I recently started bullet journaling, not because I was interested in it, but because I thought it would be good for me to take one weekend out of the month to be artistic and devote my time to something creative. I usually do an entire monthly spread within 2 days, and yes while I get super frustrated and spend hours drawing/planning my spreads, it actually helps me relax in a weird way. I don’t do trackers or anything like that because I know I wouldn’t be consistent, I just have goals for the months, events, bdays, and a weekly planner spread. I make it look cute and the same time and try to hand draw many decorations
Beginning bullet journal can be overwhelming..pfft..it took me 5 months to come into my senses wht actually I need for myself in journaling..n finally I journal my way
If you're someone like me that doesn't bullet journal, how do you keep track of ur daily tasks? Let me know! :D p.s: I didn’t think I would have to reiterate this, but please don’t think I’m bashing on bullet journaling! It’s honestly such a great hobby and I personally still watch a lot of bullet journal videos cuz they’re so interesting! This video was made as a reminder to anyone that might feel overwhelmed with maintaining one, or may just not vibe with it as much as they thought they would! Thats simply all! I've also tried bullet journaling and I was never able to keep it going with all the doodling, I never really tracked anything on my trackers for more than a week, so now I just write down what I have to do as daily lists on a simple planner or even on some notebook I have around
i stick to the preinstalled notes + reminders app :)
I have this fancy lil notebook, I write "to do list" in calligraphy and write the date and that's it!

Oh thank you
I think the more creative journalling
is beautiful and very worthwhile.
That’s why I like art bullet journaling i don’t use my journal as an agenda or whatever I use it to make creative fun spreads about my life or things that i like (i.e: movies, shows, music)

fleurebujo | that _was_ me
For me it turned out to be an artistic outlet.
Decorating mine and making it something nice to fill out motivates me to fill it out , other wise I just wasted all that time decorating 😂
fleurebujo beauty can coexist with productivity.
@@erinnichols4866 the problem is when they lack of productivity hahaha
I have an extremely minimal bullet journal. It's basically just lists: daily to dos, ideas, little projects. No spreads, no illustrations, no trackers.
Mine is v minimal but I use weekly trackers as a sort of to-do for taking care of myself! Like taking my meds and using my sun lamp because I don't feel it's necessary to clog my to do lists with them but I won't rememeber them otherwise lol
I simply bought a planner
@@-a7181 I just use moleskine notebooks.
Aleta Blaise Same here, it’s less stressful and easier to understand in my opinion
Ikr
Yeah, but not really... there's an old saying: "Fail to prepare, prepare to fail". If you're too busy to plan what you're doing, you're probably doing the wrong things.
Well, I’m in the group that doesn’t have what to plan in the end xD
I hate bullet journaling because my life is so boring I don't have anything to write down 😅
I think that having a super beautiful aesthetic journal is quite unrealistic and impratical wich ends up killing the purpose of having a bullet journal in the first place.
There's definitely people who go a bit overboard but there's certainly ways to make it practical and aesthetic!
You dont just need to have a bujo for that reason . There's no official rules for one do whatever you want with it
i also have a very boring life but i use minimalistic aesthetic and new hobbies to make it look cute for myself, i love watching bujo vids but i hate decorating it myself with stickers and washi tapes and doodles i just dont like that in my journal 🤧😊
You need to read “The Bullet Journal Method”. Too many people turn it into an art project which it isn’t supposed to be.
Agree:(
The original creator explained very clearly that your bullet journal can be ANYTHING : a diary , scketchbook , planner , study notes etc.

Can we go into it? I’m super curious now!
Yeah, I'm super curious too ;-)
yes please!
Why do people think that the bullet journal method should be cute? Oh my God, PLEASE WATCH RYDER CARROLL'S VIDEOS. He is the creator of the bullet journal method and the bullet journal is designed to be AS SIMPLE AS POSSIBLE.
thank youuu
At the same time... Most people love planning and making everything look cute at the same time. You don't like it? Don't do it. I have a regular planner for most days and another notebook for bullet journaling and I use both of them. I haven't touched my bujo for 3 weeks and I never thought anything of it, I'm just not feeling that artistic so I'm using my planner...
I don't think they intend it to be cute only, they took the idea and created something where they merged planning with art. Don't put that down, both methods work, both methods are great and both make people happy.
@Grace Ibata Why was it? Can you elaborate?
I find it so ironic the idea of “bullet journaling” moved from being as simple as possible to complicated/artsy spreads. Either is fine, whatever works for you, but I wish we had different words to distinguish the two!
I made my bullet journal a mix of a regular journal, agenda, and art journal, so it’s both artsy and practical :)

Bu Jo is for productivity. When someone spend tons of hours decorating it then finally is so tired and have no time for all those tasks. Just a thought.
ARTYgracja look, if someone wants to decorate their pages, they totally can. It is their choice.
I don’t think it’s the effort, but rather the pressure to be/ make it „ aesthetic“
Then it doesn't become bullet journals. It supposed to increase productivity because it forces your to focus on tasks. When someone turns it into art, it no longer serves its purpose. Meaning of bullet journal is lost.
@Atticus 5775 then they should write it as a bullet point that •make aesthetic template for my journal. Then cross it off once the task is complete.
No pressure, easy for me to duplicate spreads and import templates and planners from Etsy, and I can ERASE and delete stuff.
this!!! this part right here!
Yesss digital planning is the way to go
Chloe_Aku | this is partially why i like(d) photo edits instead of physical art, the idea that you can easily undo mistakes or restart and you haven't "used up" material
My school's don't really condone using technology (besides my English/Lit class)
Ryder Caroll didn’t crack open a journal for any of this, lol.
i was about to say !!! most people nowadays are convinced bullet journaling HAS to be cute and aesthetic and everything but that's missing the whole point of the actual method
The pressure in the community, and thus the public eye, _is_ there, regardless of whether it's formally announced or not, which is why so many like myself are put off by it (as well as because wasting pages is stressful ahahah)
hmm... now to brainstorm new ways to use your fancy journal
Ikr
That's really sad, Diana, and I'm sorry that was your experience. Have you read Ryder Carroll's book? I really recommend it - you can BuJo in anything, you don't need an expensive notebook or pens. My first one was a cheap notebook from a supermarket!
You can use those supplies to just make an art journal. Make something u like totally random stuff. I do that when I get time
personally i use my bujo for cute art things and quotes. if you go to r/bujo, most people post their minimal bullet journal spreads and it's still really popular. i do think bujournalling has become more like art and decor rather than getting your life in check.
@@Jellymint48 it isn’t really a bullet journal then, it’s just a journal 😊
I tried bullet journaling once... But, the pages couldn’t withstand having so many holes in them...
Wits +1000

You have a youtube channel!!!
Hi🖤

Hated bullet journaling until I stopped trying to make it pretty
I got a bullet journal because of instagram/RUclips and all the hype that was going on but after a while it was just stressing me out soooo much!! I wanted it to look pretty but also felt uninspired... I wanted it to be an efficient way to plan my months but it turned out to be another thing on my to-do list... I still have my bujo but I use it to write down my goals now😅 and maybe a monthly overview🤷🏼♀️ but i just ditched the weekly spreads completely 😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂
The original version by Ryder Carroll doesnt use weeklys
Elizabeth Williams I didn’t know that! I totally forgot that there was an “original version”🥰 I’ve heard of it before and I might actually start looking into it☺️ thank you ✨
Mmhmm, I swear it's this artificial pressure where you _technically_ don't need to have an aesthetic bujo, but it might as well be the expectation because that's all anyone thinks about when they hear "bullet journal" 🤦♀️ I saw a friend show her bujo to someone and they deadass said "that's just a to-do list and some dates" lmao.
If you are half and half on bullet journaling(you like the idea but you find it’s too much effort to make it like you see pictures of and you struggle to properly fill it out):
Try the clever fox weekly planner (£19.99 on amazon).
I love bullet journaling but *only in my own way.*
I have never been able to find a type of agenda or planner that works for me, so when I discovered this new method, it literally opened my eyes.
The editing! The handwriting! I can’t even
I also got hooked on all the aesthetically pleasing bullet journal spreads on social media and started one myself.
It kind of made me realize that bullet journaling isn't always about plans, wishes or to do lists XD
omg i wanted to try that too! it‘s so cute
Sameee nice to know someone else was in my position too!
This is the type of journal i do!
I think mine is the same too. Good to know I'm not the only one who has a weird bujo.
It's not weird. It's perfect! Because it's what works the best for you. And that's exactly what it was always meant to be 😊
Well - sounds to me like the original purpose of a bullet journal 😅👏🏼
Thiissssss 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 this is it. Bullet journal is for whatever you want it to be.

honestly I took up bullet journaling for my ADHD and I really need to go back to it because it did help me out.
This is my third year bullet journaling and my spreads are hOrRIblE
I mean, sometimes they look cute, but at the end the point is to organize your life and have an argument to use your fancy stationery! As you said, it has become therapeutic for me and yeah, I have to remind myself that it doesn't need to be aEsTHetIc like others
Luv u Jem❤️
I can relate sooo much
I’m a fine artist ( on the side) so making my bullet journal “ cute” motivates me to actually use it but omg if this wasn’t my profession I can’t imagine dedicating that kind of time
I am an artist too (BA in painting) and due to depression and anxiety haven't touched a brush in about 5 years.
I love bullet journaling, but it's just so interesting to hear the opinion of someone who doesn't like bullet journaling. Love you by the way!
I think there's some phases on bullet journaling:
1. you decide to start and you feel just inspired by others
2. you try to find your own style but you want to be like famous people making bujos.
3. your bujo is not yours anymore and you decorate it but it doesn't really works how it should.
4. you realize that the bullet journal is YOURS and you make in it anything that makes you happy (trackers, drawings, flower stamping, idk lol)
And yeah, that's based on my experience tho :)
I do use different colors and I find it therapeutic - but My journal is so simple - and I use it every day and don’t feel pressure to make it cute.
this is the most realistic video I've seen about journaling, I feel more comfortable with writting down how I'm feeling and things that I want to keep or start doing in my life, ir even things I want to cut off my mindset
It is healthier to keep it comfortable, if you feel really well doing all these decorations, keep doing them!
I am confused how did I get here and who are you
good question!
@@ImJem hi☆
btw I am serious I might have subscribed to you a long time ago and just got a notification
I have no idea what your channel is about but seems cool overall
Well all I know is bullet journal leads me to my stationery obsession lmao hELp
I felt that
See that’s the great thing about having options, everyone’s brain works differently.
I feel that helps me to focus in what’s is really important and if I feel in a mood I do some doodling and decor but that isn’t my aim.
linh thruong literally wrote 2019 instead of 2020 and i messed up the whole year schedule cuz i didnt know how much days february had

lol yeah i saw that video... it doesn't have to be perfect lol
SAMEEEEEEE, using a cute planner is muchhhh more effective for me! honestly my bullet journal made me more inefficient than effective :(
I also had that stage of trying to do everything (habit trackers and all that) and making it beautiful.
1:47 thats the problem with bullet journalling, how many people are actually putting it to good use or just making a nice page for the internet
Have you tried reading the bullet journal method?
*”Why would you say something so controversial yet so brave?”*
i like the idea of bullet journaling!!!! i usually never rlly finish any month but i love to use it whenever im starting a new semester!!! it helps to like,,, adapting back to busyness
when i start to not feel like doing my bujo, i just start using the note app on my phone to keep track of my activities lol
I’m glad you’re not trying to push yourself to keep going with an organization method that didn’t work for you, just because it’s popular online
omg just found your channel and subbed. i love the content, authenticity, and editing style. hope to make videos like you someday!
i bought a bullet journal in 8th grade, tried to start it like 3 times over the course of the year, then gave up.
when i was going school shopping this year (10th grade) i decided to get a planner. i’ve pretty much used it every day this year.
i think being an absolute perfectionist with a lot of internal pressure to be like the cool studytubers as well as knowing that i had to take time to design spreads and stuff really kept me from going back to the bullet journal.. my planner is fairly simple but i love it so much
The problem with bullet journaling is that it's gone from being its own distinct mix of planning and journaling with a unique bullet system of dividing tasks and notes into types, into just being a personalized planner.
I have a bullet journal, but i use it as a memory/love book that I'm creating for my boyfriend
Have an amazing time with him, but darling, nothing lasts forever.
@@lacedolled why would you say that tf
@@bisoueb I didn't mean it about your boyfriend- oaisjhdf I meant it about the journal in a joking sort of way LOL
@@lacedolled damn I was like why u so salty hahahah oh well
@@bisoueb Lmaooo yes 😂😂
Thats exactly how i feel. I got so excited to start bullet journaling but three months in i got so tiered to come up with ideas and doing them.
i love bullet journaling, a lot of the time it is really stressful and sometimes i end up skipping months, but now i have three bullet journals from 2017-2019 and it's so much fun looking back on the journal entries i made, my terrible calligraphy, book reviews from books i hated and me defending my bad studying habits
being able to look back through a physical book, containing your entire year is the one thing that keeps me inspired to bujo. i wanna be 80 and be able to fondly look back on my youth, the stuff i liked i was obsessed with (twiceeee) etc. with 74 a5 journals lol
Very informative.
i've been bullet journaling for i think 3 years now? a friend introduced the idea to me after I had broken up with my ex and my friends noticed I'd gotten busier and was also a compulsive "list-er" and i LOVE it and it feels so therapeutic for me c:
I have some spreads that i'm really proud of showing off and there are times when it's super simple like just highlighted dates with no deco whatsoever.
This was literally me. I just use Google Calendar for uni now
Beginning bullet journal can be overwhelming..pfft..it took me 5 months to come into my senses wht actually I need for myself in journaling..n finally I journal my way
