I had no problem with Vivek's post. Please allow me to share 1 important clarification: Vivek NEVER said he supports H1B (You can find plenty of videos of him taking a stance against H1B, including a recent one with Charlie Kirk). If you carefully read his post, he was doing 2 things - 1: explaining WHY many tech companies typically use H1B, and 2: Vivek was advocating for Americans and encouraging us to step up so we can become more competitive to decrease the desire for the H1B. In other words, Vivek wasn't actually advocating for H1B, he was advocating for us, as Americans, to value excellence in our culture more than we currently do. In Vivek's post, he points out a major problem that we have, but he also puts forth solutions while ending his post with an inspiring and hopeful conclusion (which so many pretend isn't a part of his post). Unfortunately, SO many divisive people have blown Vivek's statement far out of context and villanized him, completely misconstruing his message. Vivek has been very vocal for a long time that the H1B program is deeply broken and needs to be dramatically overhauled.
Also, Vivek talked about how America used to be just a few decades ago and Vivek elevated our pursuit of excellence in our American culture. He pointed out that we Americans have given into a culture of mediocrity, but he also said he believes in us to be able to RECOVER our true American culture of excellence (just like Vivek has ALWAYS talked about). This was no different than anyone who criticizes the left for how it has infiltrated American culture with woke ideology. It's not wrong for someone to point out that our American culture has changed over the past few decades because it's true, and it takes a lot of guts and love for Vivek to call it out. In fact, it's no different than Trump saying "Make America Great Again." Should we villainize Trump for saying America has lost our way or praise Trump for being willing to call out our decline and offer hope for our redemption?
If you have a brother who is a 3-time Olympic champion who has become unhealthy and gained a tremendous amount of weight - what Vivek did was like calling out your brother in love, reminding him of the Olympian he used to be, and encouraging him to become that once more. Here's another example: I'm a Christian who takes my faith seriously, yet I criticize the American Christian culture all of the time. I do that because I love Christians and I love America, and I choose to criticize in an honest way, but also in an encouraging way. There is MORE THAN 1 way to be American First. Vivek's way has always been to speak hard truths, encourage, and challenge all Americans to aspire to more courage and excellence instead of victimhood, by adopting a victorious mindset. Some may not like Vivek's method and that's fine, but it's absolutely wrong and foolish to claim he's not American First. Vivek's post was truthful, honest, AND encouraging, but so many people blew it out of proportion and took his message out of context like the left always does to us.

As an Indian from India, guys its not about which TV show he talked about its an anecdote. In my culture, parents are helicopter parents which while it has its pros and cons shows its pros in STEM field. Vivek is not wrong when folks are more concerned about Kim Kardashians ass or P Diddy's life than they are about ISRO's PSLV or breakthrough in Large language modeling there is an issue.
Be honest ask yourself what do you do in your free time?
I will tell you what I and most of my peers do, we talk about current affairs and general knowledge, we talk about upcoming technology and advancement - how to learn it and how to make the most of it and capitalise on it.
I don't mean to sound harsh or rude but yes, I have alot of black friends, dated many black girls (lived in UK for 10 years) - ask yourself how many times have your fellow black man or woman pronounced ask as "aks" ? How many times did you or your family or friends criticise or correct them to pronounce ASK and not aks? These are very small things. Speaking proper coherent english is very important. This is not a black vs brown vs white debate - white people also have alot of such anecdotes.
The points is the west tolerates mediocrity - go to any indians house and speak english poorly or even hindi or any other subject - you will be publicly ridiculed or shamed - and corrected - but that holds you to a higher standard. You might think uncles or aunts or grand parents are bullying kids by ridiculing them or making fun of them - but being educated and speaking in a coherent manner is promoted.
You guys in the west (collectively america and Europe) tolerate mediocrity - I have met many black people from africa who are the same as Indians.
Many African parents from Africa are same as Indians and other Asians - they also don't tolerate mediocrity. That is why a lot of inventions from black people are now coming from black people in africa vs black people in the west. Not all but a lot.
If I go to random americans and do a survey 95% will know about what's happening in the entertainment scene who is dating who all the latest gossip but when I ask they about details of latest developments in current affairs of relevance in tech, STEM and other important fields I can guarantee most will not know.
I am NOT trying to ridicule any one - just stating facts that you guys do tolerate mediocrity in your nations.

@@MrRas1982 They come there because the money is more - simple as that. Remove the money aspect most folks would not. I know others do that as well as I have acknowledged other asian cultures even african culture in Africa does that. Unfortunately, in the west that doesn't happen. Majority American cannot pass grade 10-12 math or science - there are numerous studies to prove that. American People not all but majority can't even point to different countries on a map. The point is the west has systematically dumbed their population down with participation trophies. No offence but that's the reality. Asians are far superior intellectually when it comes to english, math, physics, chemistry, biology, and most STEM fields. This includes majority of asia - India, China, Koreas, Japan, etc. There are more intellectually smarter people in asia per capita than america even on a country by country basis. That's why NOT just india but asian immigrants far out earn both their white and black american counterparts. That's just the factual data, why do you think that is? Can you become successful and smart as an american - Sure, but all I am doing is pointing out the Societal, cultural and other disadvantages you have in your way. When the government hands you money every month, in india there is no more that is given as benefits rather food like certain amount of rice /wheat and pulses are given to poor people below poverty line. We don't have people living on benefits - that is another societal/cultural disadvantage you have more in Europe/Canada but even in USA when government hands over cash ever so often it kills any motivation to work. In india if you don't work, you wont die - you will be given food. But that's about it - so the only way out of poverty is education - same in most other asian countries.
I am merely pointing out societal disadvantages for why its far more difficult for a westerner with so many distractions and disadvantages to compete with us.
Change your mindset and your actions and the outcome will change. Or don't and things will remain status quo.
My opinion is from how things are going - everything will remain status quo.

That my friend whether you like it or not is the harsh truth asians even in their free time spend it doing productive stuff and westerners (majority but I do acknowledge not all but majority) spend it wasting time on useless stuff that adds no value to their life.
Don't take me wrong, I am not dumping on westerners my own extended family is americans - I have debating this forever. We can debate this for hours buddy and I am a reasonable person. I will agree with you where you are right.
But the point is that in most things americans do accept mediocrity and that is a fact backed up with proof.
It wasn't like this for entire human history. You guys at one point were one of the ssmartest but in the last 20-30 years you have declined massively!
For crying out loud, Woke culture, DEI hiring, and debate about LGBTQ and who should use what bathroom is a bigger priority for a huge chunk of america and the west. What do you expect?
Ever notice that in Asia there are only 2 genders and there is no need for such woke BS. We don't tolerate unproductive crap - and I can comfortably say I speak on behalf of most of asia if not all. That's why we don't have weak and mediocre people.

Try not to get bogged down in ancillary details: TV shows have nothing to do with engineering as pointed out, but that TV shows are brought up in the conversation tells us something VERY important about the actual conversation topic This is NOT about skills, education or engineering. If it were, it would only take a cursory look at ANY ONES statistics to show there are so many software engineers in America that companies have managed to lay off nearly half a million over the past 1.5 years. This isn't about H1Bs (80k jobs MAX), this isnt about skills. Its about something else entirely. There are no shortages of anything ...but money and will power.

Vivek has a partially right diagnosis but the wrong solution. While we don’t want a culture of children that are worked so hard that their creativity and childhood are killed, we do want to encourage and push our kids to innovate the future in STEM in a real way. The high school culture he describes is not even a thing anymore also
However, advocating for the replacement of American workers with foreign workers tells me this is not about putting Americans first it’s about getting the cheapest labor possible and this labor is in no way cream of the crop. There are plenty of Americans that are looking for an opportunity with the right credentialed backgrounds. Investing in Americans and paying them their worth is how we improve innovation here in the long run.

Lady, we’re not going to take any advice from a person that fled their failed country that’s literally a floating slum. If Indians and all these other foreigners were so smart, we’d see that same success in their failed home lands. But we don’t. They have to come to America to be successful and eat off the resources that black Americans created.

😂😂😂 I don’t think he cares about you, so stop wasting your time. I know and have worked with many people from your country and region. When they see money, they often forget everything else, as if money is the oxygen they will lose. I also remember they would envy and trouble even the new workers from their own country that they were supposed to welcome, support, and train. So much so that all the new ones would come to me for training, support, and guidance. The company noticed that I was the only one supporting and welcoming the new ones, so they kept asking me to train them. But the company had a plan to replace all the old workers who demanded better rights and pay, like me, with new cheap workers who say yes to everything as they could lose their visa, job, and stay. The company also replaced me with someone far cheaper. But the difference is, I don’t blame Indian or Asian workers, who are exploited by these big companies and employers who are all about using people, saving a lot of money for themselves, and taking all their rights. But during financial crises, when citizens are financially poor, I can see why they might blame the poor workers, particularly when they see people like this guy, who is rich himself, talking this way while he still enjoys a lot of support from his own community.

But for some reason most of your country still runs off of a caste system and you are unable to modernize your cities and towns. A large amount of your population has to resort to scam-based businesses just to put food on the table. Why would that be the case if you have such a rich culture and your education system is allegedly superior to ours?
