This is great, and also flashes me back to my youth in the trenches of the service industry.
The stress of being new, listening closely while the basics are explained to you, and then being pushed out of the nest into the deep end. Too busy of a night to get help when you blank on something, having to push forward and fake confidence without hopefully screwing anything up. And then in a few months, it's all routine and you're the one training the new guy.

Visiting this 'party' for my first time in 2024 - after hearing a few mates 'complain' about the taste of a pint spoiled by (is that possible?) an incorrect pour.
Cool to see this demonstration, and that the top of the finished pour is actually 'above the rim' with surface tension. I recently found a local brewer who sells canned pints
of a tasty Coffee Stout - it looks and tastes like a Guinness, with a bit of coffee, which would make sense. The 'new' Guinness "0" (Zero) is a decent option when playing a gig that requires keepin' yer wits about ya... sort of... it's a trad seisiún - so 'proper lubrication' is still an important ingredient. Your mileage may vary. Thanks for this demonstration!
    "Cheers!" and "Sláinte!"

Definitely the best pint of Guinness in Dublin. When my brother in law was here visiting from the states this is where he had his first pint and he was a little disappointed with all the ones he had after. He even commented that a Gravediggers pint is better than the one you get at the actual Guinness Brewery tour.

The filling it up 3/4 and waiting to settle is mainly for stout(Guinness,Beamish,Murphy's etc) There is a Kilkenny cream ale that you do the same thing with but with Lager, cider and IPA you can just fill right to the top keeping it tilted at 45 degrees and then straightening it as it fills to the top i've probably complicated it with this explanation but i hope it helps😂

Don't take the way of pouring a pint of that guy. Five stages of pouring a pint of Guinness get a clean glass angle it in and pull the tap quick towards you, second step is bring it up to the top of the harp, third step let it settle, fourth step let it sit on the drip tray and finish it off with a back pour, and the fifth step is to serve it to the customer with please enjoy, anyone pouring a Guinness other than this way are doing it wrong, learn the five steps, if the head is big check the gas, or are lines cleaned properly, onced you are confident that you have both you will pour a great pint of Guinness following the first steps, don't try to run before you can walk.
