I don't think I have ever seen a family stay around for the covering of the grave. But it was a nice touch and educational for the young folks.

When my baby brother passed away in 2008. Me and my 2 brothers and sister carried the coffin and put the dirt on him it was hard but that's what we decided on then my oldest brother passed away 2017 and me my brother and sister and his 3 children done the same for him it sounds crazy but it was just something we wanted to do
Yes and we actually stay way passed they're done with yhe burial. Depending on tradition the family are the first to put the dirt in the hole.
I've been to many funerals and never seen the family/friends stay for the actual burial in the ground. That was always done after the family left. Very interesting. I'm sorry for your loss and trust you have wonderful memories to sooth your grief.
The Hispanics do it all the time.
We are Hispanic, and we do it always when a friend or familiar die, we pray at the funeral and the cemetery.

My mother and I stayed for my dad's burial. It wouldn't seem real or right without doing so. They hit my paternal grandfather's vault when digging the grave so it's sort of like the father is there for the birth as the children or survivors are there for the burial.
Please accept my sincere condolences. "Death is something we cannot sever, but love and memories last forever." We all look forward to the wonderful promise of the resurrection found at John 5:28, 29. What a joyful time that will will be when we see our love ones again.

They were not able to make it to his funeral so this was the next best thing...
Here in Maine they don't allow this,they won't put the casket in the vault until everyone leaves the gravesite

At my moms funeral we stayed around and watched them do everything. It’s quite a process. This is not what I want at all. I’m interested in a natural burial where I’m buried in the forest somewhere in a wicker box. No casket no chemicals in my body no concrete vault. Just like the olden days. All natural.

This is a nice cemetary and they place steel plates down so the tractor doesnt put travk marks on the surrounding graves. Very professional

It was the hardest part for me, when the casket was lowering. The wave emotions drowned me as I would no longer be able to hold my husband.

It may be difficult to watch the process, but do keep in mind that the loved ones are able to be buried and laid to rest at peace.
When my Oma passed away 3 1/2 years ago I couldn’t watch her get buried, I love you Oma Florence!

Sorry for your loss I did the same thing for my Mom in 2011 it's because this is what we offend talked about, she said people don't want to talk about death. But it's apart a life and always said....... This to shall pass. believe me it's hard right now but you keep them in your heart and they will live forever 🌹 RIP.

I don't think I could have stayed for the grave covering. When my dad passed away in '09, I lost it when they lowered his casket into the ground...I just can't bear seeing a loved one put into the ground! I'm so very sorry for your loss...may God bless you!
Seeing, even knowing thar loved ones go or are into the cremation retort is not easy either. Especially knowing what will happen or watching it happen.

amira green, the white casket is inside the burial vault which appears to be made from wood but is actually cast concrete. See the Part 1 of the service.

That casket lowering device took long to take up. In my country they remove it quickly and cover the casket with dirt while the mourners watch.

That grave looks to be 12ft deep! I thought graves in America were dug about 4.5 ft-5.0 ft deep. Not sure why the grave dug there was so deep? Condolences to all friends & family of Mr. Cing.

Yeah, the hardest part. The actual internment. I remember taking my departed brother to the cemetery but rejoiced over the traffic jam cause it delayed the burial and we can be together longer before the cemetery.

I worked at a cemetery a couple summers and always hated when some family members stayed until the last shovel full was done .
So what its the last moments they have with a loved who are u to say whether they should stay until the last shovel or the first to make matter worst the reason they ended dead could different for say if they were murdered , or killed by police or any other reason shut the hell up and do your job stay quit and let that be it cause telling this to a distraught family member will cause them to want to harm u

One guy stayed after we were done and was crying the whole time , his wife died in a industrial accident so this was a total shock to everyone ! We looked up and EVERYBODY had left and this guy had no ride , we called the funeral director and he came back to get him .
Well i apologize i lost a sister i did not even get a chance to meet i only found out she existed after a news story came over on tv in brooklyn , nyc saying a 15 year old girl was fatally stabbed turns out that was her killed for no reason and what makes it worst they did not catch the person so im a little on edge
I understand that it may add additional pressure when a bunch of eyes are watching the grounds specialist enclosing the burial ground. In Vancouver, most families and attendees stays until the grass patches are compressed into the soil and the temporary grave marker is spiked in and casket spray laid over the grass.. It was also Dignity Memorial!

Why is there no concrete vault? There is one in the grave right behind this grave. It will not take long for the casket to collapse and the ground above to sink.

Why is everyone standing around for the workmen to remove the trimmings that make the burial site nice, and then for them to seal the vault? At my Papa's funeral, and every funeral I have been to, which are many, after the graveside service and the casket is lowered down, the people leave and go somewhere else to gather for a refreshment or they go home. People do not generally stand and watch what should be "behind the scenes" work. Those people are workmen who bury the dead they are not mortuary types trained to assist with grieving. After refreshments and talking to my Papa's brother, asking him to remove his sunglasses so I could see Papa in his eyes, I left and saw that a tractor was putting the soil back in the grave on top of my Papa's vaulted coffin. The workmen stopped what they were doing, looking at me wondering what to do. I nodded for them to continue and I collected some roses from the ground that had been on the coffin, sat in the grass for a few moments as more dirt was put back in place. When I got up to leave, they looked up and I bowed slightly, tipping my head down as a sign of respect to the gravesite and of thanks to the workmen for the job they were doing and for allowing me to sit there while they worked for those those few minutes. I nodded and smiled, and held my hand up as I sign I was leaving and they continued their work.

Usually the burial crew waits until the family departs before the actual burial process. This is done out of respect.
Yes, for some faiths you wait and fill in the grave after the family has left. For others the Family begins the filling in, then for others the grave is fully filled and you place your last tribute flower on the filled grave, sometimes it is a faith based tradition others it's the final wishes of the person who passed.
@@teresavogt5977 I'm tongan, and we do the burial process ourselves so we can lay flowers on top and we request that it stays how we left it for 3 days, cos we mourn for 3 days after the burial, then the grounds crew takes the flowers and prefects the grave and puts the grass back on.
Some areas may follow that protocol but in some areas the families and attendees remain at site for the entire burial service to when they insert the temporary marker once grass patches have been compressed down into the soil. Though it could depend on cultures... Some prefer to stay or leave.
Not to mention some guy taking pics of the grave. How disrespectful is that.

The cycle and irony of life. The same men burying the body, will one day be in a casket too and need to be buried by others who also await the same inevitable fate at a later date.
Its true. But also working in funeral business we never close a grave until all the loved ones has gone yes we lower the coffin but we don't take any equipment away while the family is there to us this is the last time they will see there loved one and it doesn't matter if we stay a hour or 5 to make the family happy. To us the family is important and need closure and comfort by saying there farewell to there love one in the coffin.. They can put more flowers in or cards or what they want to put in. Its there time not our time its not the undertakers time. But a grieving family saying goodbye for the last time.

Our family always stays for the closing. Most cemetaries in TN require a vault either concrete or metal. Sorry for your loss. I just buried my Mother in Jan.

@@soclose63 One of the workers at the cemetery slipped and stepped on my mother casket and put a big ass dent in the lid. The shit hit the fan after we saw that. We all agreed go ahead and bury her. I will never forget that.

When my Jewish Aunt was buried the vault lid had to be placed First . Then you shovel the first scoop in with shovel upside down, to show reluctance to cover them, then 2 with the shovel upright. SINCE the casket also contained cremated remains of my uncle I may have offended some but did the scoops for him first then three for her. They were together in life and she wanted him with her in death. I fully agreed with their wishes... The team did remove some carpet and chairs due to age of cemetery and space.. I understood that and watched as they were fully laid to rest in peace and love. For this family, my heartfelt sorrow for your loss My parents died within 14 days at 83 yrs young My Aunt and uncle a little over a month both mid 90's, she stayed for her birthday as she had promised him, and another week for their anniversary. Then passed quickly. The Family lost Dad his older brother and a cousin's husband, uncle to us kids because that relationship was easier to understand all in a year and Mom and Aunt.. from Thanksgiving to mid March I attended too many funerals. It has taken years for me to celebrate Thanksgiving again without them... Christmas may still take some time. You will go one day always see something and think "I gotta show this to Mom...." and she isn't there... I have finally stopped doing that but still go to their graves when I feel the need to be close to tell them something important or need to feel they are guiding me...
