Probably the coolest hybrid concept that Fender has come up with. This is akin to their parallel universe line. Love the use of P90’s and Les Paul features.
Hey Miguel. I think Landon is co-owner of that disastrous play on words. I was JUST gonna say that! Plus, I'm gonna copyright it...(c) 2021. Gary M K & L. Baily. Library of Congress. All Rights Reserved!!!
I have one and it's a great guitar. The short-scale makes it easy to play and strings bend easier than a full-length tele. I find the pickups are very powerful and put out lots of power. From the video you can see the pickups are far from the strings, but they still overwhelm most amps. You end up having the volume at 2~3 most of the time. I put vintage P90's in and I liked it much more. The pickups still have Humbucker output power. It's a fun guitar!
Great review Landon and thanks for the overview! This is such a beautiful guitar especially being a set neck and not a bolt on! Also I love Jimmy eat world! Bleed America is such a well written album!
You asked if specks matter and how you like specks and I'm finding the more I learn about the guitar the more I have been looking and paying attention to the specks. Didn't understand what you mean when I first started watching but now I get it.
4:44 am i the only one who likes it better without the pickguard? it just lets you appreciate the grain and your sight focuses on the bridge, knobs and pickups ☺
What a dream! The juxtaposition of P-90 pickups on a Tele guitar and with Gibson scale length and bridge. It's a Les Paul Special crossed with a Telecaster. Very cool!
This is a sweet guitar! Pretty interesting in that the scale length is more Gibson-like as well as the set neck. I love how the neck heel is carved for easier fret access, and those p90s sound great! Thanks for the review!!
Wow! Haven't been aware that there are so many Michael Bolt-on signature models around until you taught us that this one is not one of them. There's always something to learn. Good one, Landon! LMAO!!!
Loved it. I love the Tele. If I marooned on an island, and if I can only have one guitar, it would be a Tele. Awesome! Best guitar ever. Thank you for posting this.
Good review, I like the deep dive. I've always had Gibson scale guitars 24.75, no particular reason just worked out that way. I really like the aesthetic of the Fender Stratocaster and Telecaster. When I play a Strat I have a problem with the middle pickup. It gets in the way of picking and strumming. I'm sure it's how I play, but I'm too old to try and change for a guitar. I bought a Telecaster a couple of years ago. Beautiful guitar, easy to setup, plays good, and sounds good. I was amazed by how noticeable the different scale length was for me. I also had a problem with the controls on the telecaster. I kept hitting them when playing, especially the switch. Again I'm sure it's my playing style. The JA-90 was the answer for me. I got the crimson red model and really love this guitar. Full credit to Fender for working with Jim Adkins to make make this guitar. I really wanted a Fender guitar and for a"Gibson" guy this is it.
Interesting guitar, altho I'm not sure if I really needed a semi-hollow Telecaster. I'm currently happy with my two Squier Contemporary Telecaster HHs. The black metallic one is being rebuilt into a modified Nashville SSS with Duncan Stacked pups: Vintage Stack Tele neck, my Custom Shop Twang Banger Stack Strat middle, Hot Stack Tele. 3 B330k pots, a volume pot that controls both Neck and Bridge pup, a volume pot for middle pup ONLY and a master tone pot for all pups. A 3-way switch that toggles between the neck and bridge pups only, the middle pup is added via the middle volume pot. The red metallic one will remain HH, but has the JB/59 humbuckers. The controls are 3 B330k pots, a master volume, neck tone pot, bridge tone pot, and a 3-way switch. If that sounds familiar, the control is similar to the original Strat controls...with some modern updates. For both guitars, the volumes has a variable treble bleed circuit added. The tones has 0.015 Orange Drop caps.
I am such a sucker for natural finish teles. I have the Classic Vibe 70's Thinline in Natural with humbuckers, and it's got that crossover Gibson-esque appeal, but without the shorter scale length, set neck, 4 knob layout. Looks like this tele went full Gibson and I love it.
The combination of a pre-humbucker Les Paul with a Thinline Telecaster is stunning. I'd buy it if I had an unexpected windfall, but it's not in my budget right now.
I also own JA-90 (I'm a huge J.E.W. fan). Solid and versatile guitar. My only beef is how the neck feels a bit too dainty for my taste. I also see that they raised the price (all fender guitars seem to have gone through a price hike) and I feel it went from an excellent value guitar to just ok considering it doesn't have all premium parts like some guitars in that price range might have. I would give it a solid 7/10. I don't think you would be disappointed and the best Thinline at that price point IMO. It's like fender and Gibson had a love child. I think it hurts that when they raised the price they didn't upgrade the tuners and the cheap-feeling tone and volume switches.
I love the tone of that guitar! I know if I had that guitar I would name it and treat it like my child. I would love to have this guitar cause I love thin lines and I love fender. If Antonia is the perfect guitar.
Thanks so much for doing this deepdive, Landon! I spent quite a bit of time looking for a good review of this guitar years ago when buying my first tele (around the same time RUclips shoved your channel in my face), but couldn’t find any I trusted, and couldn’t find any here in Canada to try out for myself. So years later, I don’t have one. This video may change that, if Fender will finally throw a rosewood fretboard back in with the change in cites laws. Those P90s crackle and scream. I absolutely love it. Also, your new studio looks awesome, but the lights make your forehead look sweaty. One love.
This guitar has a Swamp Ash body with a maple neck, Indian Laurel fretboard. Sample Ash would give this guitar some bright tones, the P90's would kick it into overdrive! Wow. Whata cool 🎸!
This guitar has everything I like in a T-style, especially the 24 3/4" scale length. I can handle the stock Fender scale just fine. But I'm convinced that I play so much better with shorter scales like the Cyclone! Anyway, another excellent deep-dive Landon. You've got me "amped-up" for this axe!
I was super interested, but the price for indonesia-made was a little too much. I went with G&L ASAT Junior II. For practically half a price, it's solid body and bolt-on, but still 2x P90s tele...
My Sweetwater representative is super easy going, kind and was great to talk to when I first wanted to buy a guitar from them. Helped me through setup and even had a lot of fun discussing our musical passions. Even helped me decide a guitar based around my musical interests.
Looks and sounds great! Wouldn’t replace my Tele with it though. This is an in addition to a traditional Tele guitar. Sounds are so different. I’d like to have both.
Awesome review. Would you consider buying it? I LOVE everything about this guitar! Specially the P90s, the beautiful grain on the body, and the contoured heel joint. Before finding out about this model I didn't even know there were any Fenders made in Indonesia. I would get this and change out the pots and put in a freeway switch to get 6 tones including an out of phase tone.
My ideal look for an electric guitar: natural wood (and I love ash) with a black pick guard. I like the thinline f hole vibe too. Only neg for me is the glossy neck back - just take that gloss off with some careful sanding. Nice demo - thanks.

Hi Landon!
hello!
What a beauty. I want to play it and then flip it over and chop onions on it.
I have not tried one. But man, it sounds great.
Could you take a close up of the truss rod hole for Me,not sure bout mine
Being able to say f-hole with impunity is one of the bonuses that come with being a guitar nerd.
🤣
Best comment!
Right ON! It's literally what I use in place of... other alternatives...
It might be dangerous if you were to put things in the F-Hole.
i never though of that !
Probably the coolest hybrid concept that Fender has come up with. This is akin to their parallel universe line. Love the use of P90’s and Les Paul features.
Don't you dare apologize for the bolt on joke. You own that sir.
🤪
Hey Miguel. I think Landon is co-owner of that disastrous play on words. I was JUST gonna say that! Plus, I'm gonna copyright it...(c) 2021. Gary M K & L. Baily. Library of Congress. All Rights Reserved!!!
With this guitar, I could “kickstart my rock & roll heart” just like Jim.
Actually seems to look a lot better with that pickguard off
Regardless of the contest, I think this is my next guitar.
Owned over 5 years and it's the best guitar I've ever owned.
looks so beautiful
Jim Adkins is a very underrated guitar player
Interesting! It appears to be Fender’s offering for Gibson/Epiphone fans.
“More pictures, more gooder..” 😂 You always crack me up, Landon.
Good call!
This will be a guitar for the rest of my life. For the win!
That is one of my bucket list guitars. I will have one.
I have one and it's a great guitar. The short-scale makes it easy to play and strings bend easier than a full-length tele. I find the pickups are very powerful and put out lots of power. I put vintage P90's in and I liked it much more. The pickups still have Humbucker output power. It's a fun guitar!
Thanks for sharing! ya the pickups are loud for sure
That's sick the natural look with black always goes together 😎🔥
That sounds really nice. Never knew these existed, but now I’m feeling some GAS coming on.
I love that it has 2 tones and volumes. Always like that on teles
Your teaser was blue/purple. I was looking forward to seeing the whole thing 😆 This is beautiful too though and warm sounding. Great review as usual 👍
that was the RGB light in the background :) cheers!
Haha yup figured. Cheers! 😄
The thing that I like about your videos is the close up shots details. Admiring the beauty up close.
Thank you very much!
@@landonbailey I'm all here for close up shots and clean tones. Always looking forward to it.✌️😉
Great review Landon and thanks for the overview! This is such a beautiful guitar especially being a set neck and not a bolt on! Also I love Jimmy eat world! Bleed America is such a well written album!
I bought one of these. Brilliant guitar, especially when cranked.
Right on!
I’ll have one someday. I love Jimmy Eat World. The white one is the one that struck me the most.
You asked if specks matter and how you like specks and I'm finding the more I learn about the guitar the more I have been looking and paying attention to the specks. Didn't understand what you mean when I first started watching but now I get it.
I would love one for my collection. I have always liked semi-hollowed bodied guitars. This is an excellent looking guitar.
4:44 am i the only one who likes it better without the pickguard? it just lets you appreciate the grain and your sight focuses on the bridge, knobs and pickups ☺
someone else mentioned they liked it. I think it was 6pm for them
@@landonbailey Time is timeless.
Such a cool, unique guitar. If you want p-90s in a tele, this is a great way to go.
these Seymour Duncan p90s sound great
Man, that's a beauty.
If I win this beauty,I'll give it to one of my Grandkids .🎸🎸😂😂🍬🍬🍬🍬
Just doing my homework and came to comment here because you are giving this beauty away!!
I’ve been drooling over a Thinline like this for a while!
ah oh yeah.. was nice to hear some REM and to my surprise.. Silverchair! good choice.
my guitar riffs are stuck in the 90s and early 2000s
What a dream! The juxtaposition of P-90 pickups on a Tele guitar and with Gibson scale length and bridge. It's a Les Paul Special crossed with a Telecaster. Very cool!
Fender managed to make a Gibson for $1000 less than Gibson charges. Bravo.
The crimson red on this guitar looks awesome
ya it's cool looking model
Awesome telecaster 👍🎸🤘. Hope I win this one.
This is a sweet guitar! Pretty interesting in that the scale length is more Gibson-like as well as the set neck. I love how the neck heel is carved for easier fret access, and those p90s sound great! Thanks for the review!!
I love the P90 sound
Very nice guitar. I also like the red wine version. Thank you so much for posting 👍
I will totally buy this guitar. It is a solid, beautiful one. And yes, I'm a Jim Adkins fan for years ❤
Love it! wide range of tones and stunning looking tele...
Sweet tones Landon! Love it.
I was about to comment about the intro jam but it’s literally the name of the time stamp, gotta love badfinger, my all time favourite band.
👍🎸😄

This guitar is fantastic! Love the simple wood grain finishes.
I haven't tried that one, because it's at your house.
any piece of wood with a p90 in it is rock n' roll. the clarity of the pick attack w/them is awesome.
What's not to like? Tele style build. Semi Hollow. P90s!
If I were to change something on it, I would put slotted top vintage style tuners on it.
This is the guitar I have sketched as a guitar I would build/own.
The clean tones were much better than I expected. Normally I only use full size humbuckers. Love that it has a 24 3/4" scale.
I love Tele, I got a Classic Vibe 50, I love the shape, the sound, the look. This one, with P90s.. Wow!
Thanks for your appraisal. I especially like that you play it clean for a while which gives an idea of the honest sound of instrument . Again thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
I own the transparent Black version. it’s my main guitar, I’ve yet to find a guitar I enjoy playing more than the JA-90. Excellent guitar
nice!
I have bought from Sweetwater many times. Great company !
I would love to own one of these. ! U have inspired me to love telecasters!
Absolutely beautiful all around. Great review.
Thanks for watching

WOW 🤩 This guitar is a dream….I need it bad. I setup my cheap strat copy and found the problem, my neck is twisted enough to ruin my string heights.
The combination of a pre-humbucker Les Paul with a Thinline Telecaster is stunning.
I'd buy it if I had an unexpected windfall, but it's not in my budget right now.
Well, I found my dream guitar! Nice nice review. 👌💎
I love the natural look of this guitar, especially the f-hole.
This is what I’m looking for, Tele body with LP vibe into it.. I thought of building one.. Didn’t know this one exist.. Awesome guitar!
I think the natural wood finish and the f-hole make a pretty great combo. Thanks for the deep dive!
You bet!
Not to be confused with Michael bolt on. LOVE IT!!!!!
I love the woods on this baby! Nice pickups and bridge! I’m in love 🎸
I am in market for a semi acoustic. This one would not be a bad choice at all.
nice Tele!!! love that case too

I like it. Case is cool and the guitar rocks.
I was tempted I seen they had them up on Stratosphere.
Great video Landon! I think the guitar actually looks better without the pickguard.
hey thanks! with no pickguard it's holy
The website says this guitar has stainless steel frets? Is that correct?

Yet another great reciew. Way to go Landon! Can’t wait to put my hands on the guitar when it arrives at my house after I win it LOL

A beast of a tele
I have a classic Vibe thinline tele, so clearly i must start an entire thinline tele collection
from Leo: Love the P90 on a Telecaster idea! That one would look really good hanging from my shoulder.
Very nice guitar. I used to have the white one. P-90s sounds good… wish i would have kept it. Feel free to send it my way. 👍🏼

I left my guitars back home after moving to Italy. If I’d grab a guitar now I’d play ZZ Top’s La grange. Something about that fits the guitar
