Great video, I’m considering giving this a try. My manual is an original Sega CD Lunar the Silver Star that appears to have a consistent warp through the entire book. My concern however is that the front of the manual has this metallic sort of print. Working Designs are the creators of this game and so their designs have this metallic theme through out there games. In doing this process I’m wondering if the press with the paper towel would potentially remove those metallic printings, and if the plotting paper would instead be more ideal in securing the protection of the metallic elements of the print? Id really appreciate your feedback!😊
Does is have to be distilled water? I would think that if it was tap water, only the pure H2O would evaporate anyway. Also, why not soak a towel so that there would be no possibility of splashing?
Distillation relies on evaporation to purify water so your point is well taken. I tend to default to distilled water whenever there’s a question of contamination because it is so cheap and easy to get. To the best of my knowledge distilled water evaporates more quickly than tap water. Tap water where I live at the moment is extremely hard so I usually avoid. I have never heard of someone using a towel but I have heard of folks using clean new sponges in the manner you suggest.
Would this work for a book with the sorta smooth kinda plastic feeling pages for water damage? Thanks.
That is an interesting method. Makes sense so I'll have to give it a try. Thank you.
glad it could help out

Does this cause pages to stick together?
Where do you get a grate like that?
That grate came from an old fluorescent light….
