Well, you can plan a visit to Lahaul Valley from Manali and from there by taking all precautions try day trips towards Baralacha La or Shinku La whichever locals suggest you to plan with safety and care. Don't travel up there without checking weather conditions and taking inputs from locals.

yes, mostly all the taxis running on these routes are diesel vehicles. Of course on extreme cold nights diesel has a tendency to freeze when engine is idle. So if it is well below -10 to -15 C then you will have to ensure that you park your vehicle at an angled position and may need to start the engine after every 2-4 hours and let it warm up. This means sacrificing on sleep to ensure car starts the next morning.

Hello sir, i am going 7 to 19 december shimla - spiti - shimla. Will there be snow while riding bike? Also can i carry chains for bike on rent?
Snow in December is not that common at all but black ice can be there in some section especially after you reach Nako and beyond.

I will never recommend that you take that route that late in the season.

Ladakh will not be hot in May, mostly cold especially the lakes and passes will be winter like conditions.
