Inspiring and thank you for honoring all of us blind golfers. It's very difficult to play this game being legally blind like I am. I can't even imagine people who are totally blind that can do it. Im grateful for what sight I have, it's truly a gift and that's how I (and others) need to see it. It's so easy to be negative in life and focus on the darkness because it really is everywhere and always lurking readily to creep into your mind. You really do have to fight it and one thing I've learned is that it's an active fight. It never really goes away and happiness is truly a choice. It doesn't just fall into your lap. You gotta really want it!!
So despite all the ups and downs I have faced in life, and in Golf, I play on. I do it for myself and more importantly I do it for those less fortunate than me. I do it because it makes me happy amd isn't that what life is all about?
Oh and I almost forgot to mention here I have recently started a RUclips channel and it's about well many different things but one of those thing is my journey to be the best Golfer I can possibly be while being blind.
My goal is a scratch level someday or possibly better.
A tall order I know being blind but hey we gotta try in life right?
Anyways its called "Through Blind Eyes" so if you wanna check it out amd give me a follow or whatever strikes your fancy I would absolutely appreciate it.
It's brand new so I only have 1 video up and I'm in the very tedious process of editing my second and I have about 5 or 6 others behind that. The next video scheduled to be uploaded is my adventures at TPC Sawgrass. I got my butt kicked but it was fun! 🤣
Aright guys take care and stay believing in yourselves and each other
Play on guys, play on... ⛳ 😊👍

That took courage, man. A large part of my family (cousins, mom, wife, aunt) are visually impaired or legally blind. As a sighted person, I unintentionally take for granted things that my family members have never had. I’ve never once considered the game of golf to be one of those things. And I’ll forever look at golf differently. Figuratively, and literally. I’m touched, man. Seriously. I mean that. Thank you.

I picked up golf about 7 years ago, got diagnosed with RP (Doc's condition) a little more than a year ago. I have never needed to see a video more than this one right here. So unfathomably inspiring. Today, my vision, while not good, is still full, I can live a "normal" life. One day that will go away, and I've struggled dealing with that reality ever since my diagnosis, but seeing this and hearing Doc's story has put such warmth in my heart. I won't ever have to give up this game I love, I will adapt and it will be different but I will still be on the course hitting balls with people I care about.I just really can't describe how awesome this video was. Made me tear up hearing EAL try to describe what he was feeling with the mask on, such a powerful experience. Thank you Erik, truly.

Very appreciative of this episodes voice and it really hit it home for me. It reminded me of golfing with my Grandfather as he went through severe macular degeneration from ages 63 to 91. We still golfed almost every weekend as his condition got noticeably worse year after year, but never stopped him. He made it work as he did with everything. Man never used a cart, absolutely loved golf, walking the course and always carried his own clubs. He'd always say "appreciate your shot and make them count". I carry those very words outside the game as it stuck. We kept golfing until his passing and I will miss that man, his character, his words, far beyond forever.

Fantastic episode. I was at the RGC meetup right after this was filmed, so I knew this episode was coming, but it's even better than I anticipated. The stories of both men are truly inspirational, and the heartfelt way they've been presented here gives them the weight they deserve. Keep up the good work!

Very touching and refreshing episode. Thank you for reminding folks like me just how truly blessed we are to have something as simple as our vision, etc. I hope I “see” things a little better tomorrow morning. You’re a good dude, EAL.
