Just in case no one has mentioned it Nora, the "padlock ring" is not a padlock ring. It is the bezel from a dive watch.

Well done on the gold ring find! The beautiful geometric like pattern on the shell @10:11 resembles that of a Cone Snail! though very pretty they can also be very deadly! there are over 600 species and All carry a wide variety of neurotoxic venom.Great vid and finds!👌
Believe the shell in vid is that of a Chekered Nerite Snail.
Bill Rome nailed it (See below). Your "padlock ring" is a bezel from a diver's watch. Specifically, it is an Elapsed Time Bezel versus:
1. GMT bezel which allows the wearer to keep time in two different time zones at once.
2. Compass bezel with N-S-E-W.
3. Countdown Timer which is the exact opposite of the elapsed time style.
4. Tachymeter bezel found on watches with a chronograph because its function is to convert distance into speed, and vice versa. I'm sure you are aware it's a very common watch feature that functions as a stopwatch.
An Elapsed Time Bezel makes it easy for you to count seconds or minutes passed, rather than needing to do arithmetic in your head. All you do is turn the bezel until zero matches up with the current time. These types of watch bezels are frequently found in diver's watches due to a diver’s need for exact timekeeping. One fun fact about these bezels is that they only turn clockwise. This is a safety feature for divers who rely on their bezel to time how much oxygen they have left. If they bump their watch and the bezel shifts, it will tell them that they have less time, rather than more.

Hi Nora, what you think to be a padlock ring is in fact a diving watch ring. The desingn looks like rolex submariner's. Not sure that it a real one but if it is it's a good value find 👍

@@stef7133 If it's not Rolex, it could be from one of many other watch brands. Rolex is not the only company that makes dive watches. Several others could be worth a little also... Like Omega, etc.
@@sk8nshoot1 iy's not omega desing, il looks perfectly like a sub's. Anyway, you a right, this could be any homage or fake one : you don't loose a rolex bezel easily... Anyway, hope does not hurt.

Beau Popp, that is exactly what I said too when I watched the video. It’s definitely is a bezel to a divers watch. It looks like to an Omega Seamaster because those bezels were notorious for coming off so easily but it could very well be from a Rolex Submariner.

You're having better luck than me. I've only been finding coins and trash. The crowded beach I really wanted to detect, they won't let you detect the water, only the beach, which is all rocks. I know there's got to be a ton of jewelry in there, but they were keeping a pretty good eye on me after I asked. It was a state park, so have to follow the rules or get tossed.
Ughh that's a bummer! Hopefully you have some better luck soon and find a good spot where its allowed🤞

Another awesome video Nora! My brother and I watched together. He loves metal detecting and we were excited to see how much gold the ring had. He guessed 14 karat and I guessed 18 karat before the reveal. We were surprised it was 9. Hugs Nora!
