Jay & Amber, you'll love his "Philadelphia Freedom"and "Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding" !!!! Don't let the title scare you off on the second one, starts off slow instrumental, then its a banger! edit- since you said Funeral For A Friend, Did "Funeral For A Friend/Love Lies Bleeding" get blocked???
You need to fix the acoustics in the studio. Acoustical treatments like fabric wrapped acoustical panels and soundproof curtains for studios absorb a good deal of your mid and high frequency sound waves and help deal with audio issues like echo and reverberation. If your walls are too reflective, sound waves will bounce around the room wildly. Or simply moving the microphones closer can help eliminate the problems
I've watched all your Elton reactions and to see your love for that man is so heart warming for a (slightly ) older fan. 'Believe' & 'Made in England' are two more rocky songs by Elton and I'm sure you will love them.
Elton's most underrated song wasn't written to be a hit, but it's even more relevant today than it was back in the 70's. It's called "Ticking" & it was recorded with just Elton singing & playing the piano. The piano playing is incredible as it sounds like an entire orchestra playing a soundtrack to the story being told. To this day I have never heard anyone paint a picture with piano as Elton does in this song. If you don't choose "Ticking" as a reaction piece, do yourself a favor, and listen to it for yourselves.
I have requested this in the past. His piano is as physically powerful as anything I've ever heard. In an interview with Bruce Hornsby - I believe he was touring with Sir E. - he remarked how hard it is to break a piano string and that Elton would "routinely" break them.
OMG are you spot on with this one. My 3rd fav EJ song behind Indian Sunset and Rocket Man. 'Ticking' may be some of Elton's best piano EVER. Other-worldly.
I HAVE A REQUEST!! I love love love all you guys reactions to such diverse music-Especially Elton John. Please please PLEASE do “The One” by Elton. You won’t regret it! “If the River can Bend” also a great one. Thanks so much guys! 😊😊
It was recently announced that Bernie will be inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in his own right this year in the Musical Excellence Award category.
You already did a good job with the decoration. I love the new room! How did you manage to do that so quickly? It's nice to hear and see Elton John again. I saw him last week on an old TV Special 'Aretha Franklin: Duets' as a backing vocalist opening with "Chain of Fools". Together with Rod Stewart and Smokey Robinson! Elton seemed to be nervous as hell 😃
Haven't heard this is ages - great pick!! Can I please put a request in for Elton's song Believe? It is very underrated - but SO powerful. You'll both LOVE it :)
It's not played much because it was a soundtrack song- "Days of Thunder." EJ has so many hidden gems on soundtracks, tribute albums, and guest appearances of artist albums It's amazing! Sting is like that too! I'm trying to collect those songs.
@Jacob 33filmguy - Those were awesome! Esp RSR reaction to "Sacrifice". I'm watching that one again!. I've only been on here for a month or 2...binging, but never thought to put the artists name and song in the search. Thanks again
I'm always in the mood for Sir Elton. I know this is a tangent, but there was a musical phrase that reminded me of a Pointer Sisters song. If you haven't yet done "Slow Hand", please add it to your list!
I’m always here when you review Elton John. This is such a beautiful song, great choice. There are many other love songs from Elton! Check out The One! I’ve been hoping he would get to reviewing I Don’t Wanna Go On With You Like That. 😁
I was just listening to this one earlier today, This is one of my favorite Elton john songs I love his 70s and 80s music, but I kind of like his 90s music even more. I would also suggest another underrated song of Elton’s “Healing Hands” from the same album as “Sacrifice”.
discovered Elton back in the 90s with the Lion King soundtrack and have never looked back.. My favorite artist of all time even to this day. Would love to see more reactions from his 90s work. Made in England was my favorite album of his from the 90s.
Happy to see you re-visit Elton again. I think for your guys taste, your next Elton John should be "Bennie And The Jets", it's a rocker, and as Jay says: It's Fire. P.S. - If you re-visit Billy Joel, please please please do "Goodnight Saigon", it's a different side of Billy Joel, and possibly the most Haunting song ever written. (Bring Kleenex)
You all have played so many of his greatest hits, you might wanna check out "The Bitch Is Back" Some people say it's about him poking fun at himself and I have heard it's about when Taupin’s wife came back don't know
Totally agree with you Billy K , requested "Ticking" months ago. How he gets it to sound like a number of pianos are playing at same time heaven knows. There is a good "live" vid on you tube. More than worth a listen. Best wishes from UK.
A quick P.S. for David: I just returned from the U.K. having visited friends in both Hertfordshire & then South Shields. Always a pleasure to visit your beautiful country. Cheers from "across the pond" my friend.
Elton John is absolutely one of the greatest piano players in pop music history. Another guy not known for his piano playing, but was great at it was Prince. Check out "How come U don't call me anymore" just Prince a piano and a little rhythm section.
Billy Joel is not better than EJ, Several times in interviews Billy himself has admitted that EJ is the better pianist of the two. But Billy is still great!
Woah. The Sound. Sounds like y'all are in a large pool hall or the garage. Y'all are Super Loud and the music is much lower with your room ambient sound and echo's. I tried running it through all my equalizer settings and nada. Carpet & two microphones. But the music sounds like a radio in yalls room, not a direct feed. You moved? Need to adjust.
Well Elton would know....he's loved a whole lot. Him and his hubby LUV LUV LUV those little boys they adopted.....that was a brilliant idea letting 2 men adopt baby boys🙈🙉🙊👍
"Produced by Don Was, "You Gotta Love Someone" and the three other tracks that close Disc 4 of To Be Continued... (along with "Made For Me," "Easier To Walk Away" and "I Swear I Heard The Night Talking", the latter of which was released first as a B-side of the single in France), were all recorded in one take each (minus overdubs)." Ekton stopped working with Bernie for a while. But that was with him.
Bernie is finally being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! I agree with everyone else you need to get some acoustic tiles to Muffel the echo!
Beautiful song. Elton John has one of the best music career. Decades of amazing music. The first song I ever learned how to sing at 3 was "Crocodile Rock" Minxi gave a great song suggestion. Duet with Elton & George Michael "Don't let the Sun Go Down on Me"
First time listening to this song and I loved it! Thanks as always for playing wonderful music which reaches a wide audience of music lovers (most especially the people subscribed to your channel, me being one of them). If at some point in the future you decide to react to Elton John again, here is a suggestion of one of the songs you could react to, it's titled "Nikita". Have a very blessed day!
would love to see your reactions to more Elton classics like "Burn Down the Mission", "Mona Lisa's and Mad Hatters" and "Funeral for a friend/love lies bleeding"
I definitely love Elton, but one of HIS favorite piano players (someone he idolized) is someone you need to get back to....LEON RUSSELL. Lots of great songs to choose from: Home Sweet Oklahoma, Stranger in a Strange Land, Delta Lady, Roll Away the Stone. Elton and Leon actually did an album together, so anything from that album would get you both of them at one time.
Thank you guys for showing this video I have everything album wise E J has ever released. This song is still so special to me I find it so emotional because of not having my mother back in my life for than 35 years and she's now passed since March 2022 I appreciate and watch you all the tme
Hey Jay and Amber!!! Bernie Taupin wrote alot about what he went through and things he experienced as well as what Elton went through. And the funny thing is they "never," wrote in the same room at the same time. Bernie would write the lyrics, get them to Elton and then Elton would write the music and interpret what Bernie wrote. It worked so well for them. You'd never know they didn't write together.
Great song this should have been a much bigger hit. So soulful. Check out the song Healing Hands from around the same time period. Another underrated gem.
This was one of his final big hits from the very late 80s or maybe very early 90s, one of his better ones from that time period, the section with the church choir really helped make the song
I think you get to hear how talented Bernie and Elton were when you start to move away from the “crowd pleasers”. One of the best musical pairings for me. I always love your authentic reactions. Could I please request that you react to Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott’s Still? So Paul Heaton is a fairly prolific singer/songwriter who started in the 80s on a band called the housemartins, then in 89 he and another band member moved onto the beautiful south, then in 94 they replaced the female singer with Jacqui until 01, and then Paul and Jacqui paired up again a few years ago. A brief summary of who Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott are. The song id love you react to is Still, which one of their most recent songs.
This was for the Days of Thunder film soundtrack. Very often Bernie doesn’t write a song about Elton himself. Only a very few are autobiographical. Have you seen the 'Rocketman' film? That's real good.
Love Sir Elton! New studio looks great; but would be nice if you could take a minute to point out all the pics. I watch you on my TV and still can’t make out all of them; people who watch on their phones probably can’t see any of them. Also when you talk, it sounds like an echo chamber!
The only way to get rid of the echo noise is something on the walls to stop the echo before it bounces. They have acoustic tiles that can be put on the walls along with carpeting with good foam under it will stop a lot of echo. I dont know if anything is needed on the ceiling , I dont think so but that can be added last if needed. If you use the foam acoustic tiles (cheapest option) dont just glue them on. Tiny wall screws or good tacks along with the glue can make a better hold. Ask a pro , could save money and could get a non smelly glue. And Mateo J. Has put Tommy the movie on RUclips. Its cut into shorter segments but eveyrthing important seems to be there. Only other way is to buy it. If you have a player.
So glad you're getting into some of his later stuff. So many people go on about how Elton was only good from 1970-75, but as an Elton fan since about 1984 (I was 4), I heavily disagree. The mid 80s were good, and I have loved nearly everything since 1992's The One. Listen more, everything he does is fantastic.
I absolutely love Sir Elton John and have I got a suggestion for you! Imagine Elton and the piano man Billy Joel face to face live in concert...check em out, the ultimate piano men dueling it out singing Benny and the Jets
I believe this was the mid 90's . One thing you may notice.. EJ , Billy Joel and Rod Stewart went down this beautiful sound/church choir background in the early and mid 90's.. A beautiful song by EJ is (Love Song) 1970.... Not much air play but beautiful lyrics.
Sound in the new room has a slight echo. Looks great though. Try the song Power Windows Billy Falcon I think Amber will enjoy it. Then one for J, Break my stride by Matthew Wilder
Wow, this was a deep dive. One in the eye for the 'he didn't do anything after the 70s' crowd. (This was 1990.) You talk about great piano players but it is an absolute scandal you haven't touched on Neil Sedaka. (There is a connection between Neil and Elton which will no doubt be discussed in time.) Sedaka started out in the 50s with poppy hits like 'Oh Carol' and 'Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen' but it his more mature 1970s songs that I like. In many ways he's an American Elton more than Billy Joel is; he also usually writes with a lyricist. The Other Side Of Me The Immigrant Laughter In the Rain That's Where the Music Takes Me The Hungry Years Honestly, give me a try. But more deep dives into EJ's less well known songs would be great as well!
Yes, these please
I love "Funeral for a Friend" that's a must
Take Me To The Pilot is another of the better songs they have yet to get to.
Funeral for a Friend is a definite must do!
I second this, especially Funeral/Love Lies.
You need to fix the acoustics in the studio. Acoustical treatments like fabric wrapped acoustical panels and soundproof curtains for studios absorb a good deal of your mid and high frequency sound waves and help deal with audio issues like echo and reverberation. Don’t Let the Sun Go Down On Me with Elton AND George Michael is a MUST SEE duet ❤

OMG are you spot on with this one. My 3rd fav EJ song behind Indian Sunset and Rocket Man. 'Ticking' may be some of Elton's best piano EVER. Other-worldly.
Phenomenal song
My first time hearing this one too. Which is rare. I thought I heard them all. Loving the Linda Ronstadt portrait on your wall.
I remember VH-1 playing this video constantly in early 1991 when I was growing up, great song.
Gotta do Philadelphia Freedom!!! By Elton John!!!1
I HAVE A REQUEST!! I love love love all you guys reactions to such diverse music-Especially Elton John. Please please PLEASE do “The One” by Elton. You won’t regret it! “If the River can Bend” also a great one. Thanks so much guys! 😊😊
And if you’re looking for one to just blow you away “The Last Song”
"The One" is a beautiful song. 🥰
Agree. Next song should be "The One". One of my fav if not my fav Elton songs.
This song is so beautifully composed Elton has one of the best voices 💞
You definitely need to hear Elton's hit song I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues. You will really enjoy it if you like this.
Awww, J is so happy he finally got his sign. looks great. Sir Elton always lookin' so dapper and sounding amazing. Thanx so much, many Blessings
"Funeral for a Friend /Love Lies Bleeding" please!
With having a new space, you have a lot of walls to redecorate…. Have fun!!😊
Bernie Taupin wrote lyrics and Elton wrote the music. One of the best partnerships in musical history.
Let's not forget that Bernie Taupins wife made all the outfits that Elton wore.
It was recently announced that Bernie will be inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in his own right this year in the Musical Excellence Award category.
The man himself writes all the music and Bernie the lyrics. They’ve been together since Bernie was 17
You already did a good job with the decoration. I love the new room! How did you manage to do that so quickly? It's nice to hear and see Elton John again. @@seanswinton6242 I actually didn't know that - thanks for the info :)
Billy Joel is another great piano player! That's why he's called "The Piano Man"
Every time I hear Elton sing, I'm reminded of why he and Bernie are my favorite song writers.
You sound like you're doing this from your bathroom or a giant hallway.
Yeah they some some sound dampening foam in there or something..
Could try some curtains or stuffed animals 🤔❤
Maybe put some cork or sound deading panels on the walls or thick curtains.
Or from a well.
The garage
Great song! More Elton greats are "Sacrifice" and "I Guess That's Why They Call It the Blues".
Agree also Little Jeanie and Nikita.
@Jacob 33filmguy - Really? I went on an Elton RSR binge a few weeks ago, never saw them. Thanks, I'll look for them
@Jacob 33filmguy - Those were awesome!

Elton does it again, an emotional song well played.
Why on earth this wasn't a hit song I will never know. One of my very favorite Elton song, and a wonderful video.
This is my #2 favorite song by Elton John. Don’t let the sun go down on me is #1.
Still waiting for my favorite Elton song, Philadelphia Freedom!! You're gonna love it.
I’m always here when you review Elton John. This is such a beautiful song, great choice. There are many other love songs from Elton!
Check out The One!
I’ve been hoping he would get to reviewing I Don’t Wanna Go On With You Like That. 😁
You guys should listen to Elton's "Funeral for a friend" full version.
Another great song you'd like by Elton John is Blessed
Elton is class. Great studio guys. Fun to see you moving up on the world. Thanks for the smile.

"Grey Seal" is a fast-paced gem. Worth a listen.
Love the combination of Elton John and Bernie Taupen, Bernie writes the lyrics and hands them off to Elton who puts a beautiful melody to them.

Yet another great Elton John joint
Elton John no words are enough for his mastery
Madman Across the Water-Surprised no one has requested this classic!!!
Song is from movie days of thunder. Was on the soundtrack. Great movei, great song
I would love to see Jay’s face if Amber made him listen to and watch the music video for the Kate Bush cover of ‘Rocket Man’.

You probably know this, but you have an echo.
This video was made by the same guy who did "River of Dreams" for Billy Joel.
