That is the greatest bat house I have ever seen and I wish there were more of them all over the United States. I love bats

We love bats in the Pacific Northwest. Bats eliminate insect pests that damage the forests. They sometimes have a bat viewing party on the east shore of Lake Washington. It's a lot of fun, because they will fly really close to your face, but not hit you. They're just snagging the insects that fly around your face. Nothing like a bat to get rid of a pesky mosquito.

The bat on the thumbnail picture is a flying fox, they spend their days hanging in trees in the sun, not hiding in a house.

How is a bat living 30 years like a human living 100 when the oldest bat caught was 44?????

Watch the "Megabattie" channel , and "Batzilla" channel, both are Australia based bat rescuers, they find injured "flying foxes" yes, they have red hair on their heads, and they look like tailess winged foxes.
They rescue injured bats who are caught in fruit tree netting, and they bottle feed the babies who are orphaned when their mom dies, then they are released into a bat colony to become UNhumanized after being hand fed, groomed and cuddled.
    Fruit bats are responsible for
pollination of over 500 scecies of plants and trees such as mangoes, cashews, avacodoes, ect.
Watch the you tube video "Bats are terrifying" it's actually adorable AND informative!
Meg and the other bat carers are vaccinated, so they are protected against any virus they MAY carry. When you see those tiny sweet babies with pacifiers hanging upside down on Meg's shirt, it just melts your 💓.

I'm lucky enough to live near a 'camp' of grey headed flying foxes (the ones you most often see Meg rescuing). I could sit and watch them all day. :) There are four species of megabats in Australia: the grey headed, the red, the black and the speckled. sadly due to forest clearing we have only 5% of the megabat population left from what it was a century ago.

Order "Chiroptera" [Greek "hand wing" ("chiro" + "ptera"] I just put up a bat house. They eat a stupendous amount of insects. They carved out an ecological niche that even the birds haven't exploited: Nocturnal hunting! Proud to share our mammalian lineage with these fantastic friends.
