Despite the people of Utah voting for an INDEPENDENT congressional boundary commission, the legislature altered this decision to serve their own interests rather than respecting the will of the people. Utahns should be deeply concerned about the legislature's insistence on having the final say over the people. Instead of proposing an amendment that would allow Utahns to vote on their own laws and also permit the legislature to present a counter-proposal for the people to decide between, the legislature has resorted to calling an emergency meeting and is doing everything in its power to diminish the people's authority. I will be voting against this amendment.
