WOW! What a powerful homily! The story is a very old one - going back to the times before Christ. It is so good to hear acknowledgement from Fr. Meyer of the resilience of women. There are many male heroes, but some of the strongest and resilient people that I have known in my life have been women. And, I mean of strong intellect and physical courage, as well. We might not have the upper body strength of a man, but boy - you do not want to get between a mama and her baby!
This is the most beautiful talk on women I have heard! I do not relate to the typical "quiet woman, peaceful dove" image and don't feel it's realistic. It's inspiring to hear a reflection on the RESILIENCE of women in the Bible - so much more relatable in this day and age! Thank you Father!

We call ourselves in the south, "Steel Magnolias". A Magnolia is very fragile. If you handle it at all it starts to fall apart. But when we need to be ,we are steel BY THE GRACE OF GOD ALONE! Our Faith is what gives us the "steel" aspect" of our make up.

Jesus IS the door you MUST go through him. YE MUST BE BORN AGAIN!!! YOU ARE SPIRITUALLY DEAD IN TRESPASSES AND SIN ...BY FAITH IN THE GOSPEL ALONE WHICH IS THE DEATH BURIAL AND RESURRECTION OF CHRIST YOU ARE BORN AGAIN! Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of Works, lest any man should boast. Only Jesus alone can save and will save if you believe in him!
Pretty disappointing. Father is usually spot-on, but when the majority of the lesson (which is what a homily *should be*) is built around a Disney movie, it’s not good. And what’s up with the singing (“Look at me!”)? I get what he was going for, but it’s a BIG swing and a miss here.
Truth, Catholic women are resilient and suffering, I grew among countless women like that, women who had no perfect lives but a lot of faith.
