    Stunning, it must be like turning the key on 80-90s history. I had an SR sadly it was a rot box but I did love driving it back in the day 😎👍

      I never drove an SR but I'm told they were very revvy and fun to drive. Wouldn't mind a go in one to compare! Oh mate it's ace putting the cassette player on and listening to that crackle once more when it reaches the end of the tape. Never thought i'd miss that! :D

    Brilliant lad what a stunner and we'll done. Had a 1.4 Sr 28 years ago and had it as a full gsi replica in white but to me that's the best colour you have. And for it being your dream car I totally understand pal.

    very nice owned a few vauxhalls back in the day starting of with a 1600 mk1 astra with high lifting cams and a kn filter,then i had a cavalier commander which i swapped for a Sri 130 plus cash,had that one lowered on the koni suspension,1 thing i will say about the vauxhalls sports seats is they tend to wear at the at the sides which stop you from sliding about on the seat,after my cavvy 130 i had a 1.2 nova as baby and flat forced me to think my expenses :/

    • @carrevival8200
      @carrevival8200  2 года назад +1

      I'd love a Mk1 Astra! What is about them that makes them so attractive? It has to be the unique body shape. If i had the money i would buy a Mk1 Astra Gte without thinking about it. Infact i saw a Mk1 on Ebay recently that wasn't a Gte but had been restored so well and the paint was a one off custom job it looked amazing. Cavalier Commander was a lovely car aswell. Am i right in saying they came with the black wheels similiar to the Nova Sr?
      My drivers seat in this car had bolster and shoulder wear so.you're absolutely bang on. Had to have it all repaired with a donor seat but thankfully it's good now. Had a few 1.2 Nova's myself mate and they were such fun to drive. My first car was a 1.2 Merit used to thrash that everywhere never let me down!

      @@carrevival8200 Aye Mk1 Astra was my first car 1600L in red,then silver commander cavalier hatchback with sunroof ,tinted windows and black alloys,then my white and black or Anthracite Sri 130 cavvy saloon with red decals,then a little 1.2 nova which was a nippy little car and very forgiving when my timing belt snapped on the motorway and all it required was a new belt no engine damage whatsoever ,my only beef with red vauxhalls is the red paint was prone to going pink with sun damage ,if i owned one again i would spray it Volkswagen red paint i found far better when i had a mk 2 Golf gti.

      Thanks Barry. Yes i had to have this colour as it’s the colour i first saw a GTE in when i was a lad and it stuck with me. Hope the Saloon restoration is going well i’m sure it will be a lovely car when done as they don’t make them like this anymore. Time warp cars !

    My first ever car at 17 was a silver GTE. Didn’t work out the best as I had nothing but hassle with it and got rid of it. But the few moths I was driving it I loved it. Would love your car. It’s very nice.

    I can inderstand why this is your dream car, I saw a white one in the car sales lot as i went passed in the bus at age of 17. I was blown away, never got one- had to make do with a 1.2 merit done up like a 1.3 sr. Good times.

      I had a similiar experience 🤣 a lad down the road from me had a Gte in this colour of all colours! I used to watch him driving around wishing i had one! I had a few Nova's and tried to make them look nicer aswell. Nice to know it wasn't just me 😁

    Me again, just about to get the parts painted the blue/grey. I’ve been told hurricane grey is the colour to go for. But the painters are saying the scanner is saying something completely different off the B pillar decals I ordered from the company we spoke about. Was just wondering what you did ? Did you go with the scan or did you go with hurricane grey ? Or something different ? Thanks a lot.

    • @carrevival8200
      @carrevival8200  2 года назад

      The painter took care of that side so i'm not sure but i do remember me asking him to match the other external grey parts on the car. I would say he went with the scan to ensure everything matched. Hope this helps 👍

    Looks so good. Have a question about the bumpers and side skirts. The black sections on the bottom of bumpers are the same colour aren’t they. If so did you have them painted and would you know the colour they are ? Restoring one myself and want to do it properly as you have done. Thanks a lot.

    • @carrevival8200
      @carrevival8200  2 года назад

      Hi Jack thank you. The side skirts have not been painted just cleaned. The front and rear bumper diffusers have been painted "blue grey". The front is smooth and the rear is textured. I wasn't sure myself how they had to be but the spray shop went to have a look at another GTE to make sure. Hope this helps. Any more questions please don't hesitate to ask i'm happy to help 👍

      @carrevival8200  2 года назад

      @@jackhinton7860 i'm not sure what the colour of your B pillar stickers need to be. The way to find out is to take your chassis code and cross reference it with what colour they were using at the time. I contacted the chap at Vauxhall green parts at Louth. He was extremely helpful. He used to work at the Vauxhall heritage centre so he knows his stuff. Only and i mean only buy your B pillar stickers from here
      www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vauxhall-Nova-GTE-GSI-8-Piece-B-Pillar-Decal-Kit-Original-B-Post-/183245828789?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m2548.l6249&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0
      Message him and tell him you need blue grey (if yours were blue grey) as he doesn't advertise them. They're about £90. Worth every penny trust me! The black or plain grey ones are cheaper though.
      I made the mistake of buying cheaper ones and they didn't have the texture. Waste of money.
