I have 11 different versions of the Blur in my collection. I am convinced it is in the Top 3 of all production knives for EDC. I enjoy your reviews sir.
The standard Blur was originally 440A steel, then Sandvik 13c26, and finally Sandvik 14c28n. Of course there have been many sprint runs in different steel. The S30V version is not a sprint run but a higher performance version and an outstanding knife for the price even all these years later.
I think the Olitans g031 is another highly competitive option for people looking at this knife these days, as long as being made in the USA isn't essential to you. Micarta or G10 options both a comparable weight to the Blur, sandvik 14c28n steel, an axis lock which I prefer to the liner lock, and cheaper at under $60 currently. The cheapest knife I own and becoming one of my most carried, I think it's highly underrated.
I bought a black stone wash ken onion design blur about 6 years ago was a great knife and saved my life. I will be buying the s30v version for the 80$ price tag.
This is so funny to go back and watch these older videos now seeing brands like Civivi, CJRB, Kizer putting out such crazy quality knives for under $100. I still think some of the USA Kershaws are a great value. It's just crazy to see where the knife world has gone in just 5 short years!
My wife bought this exact model for me for last Christmas. I love it. The only thing I'm not nuts about is the clip. It exposes a good half inch of the knife out of your pocket.
I have this knife with the same S30V blade. Some say it's supposed to be razor sharp right out of the box. Mine was not. When I apply pressure is can slice through a roll of toilet paper pretty good, but when I run the edge over my fingers it doesn't feel razor sharp. I got mine brand new from Blade HQ. I heard the definition of razor sharp means you can lightly drag the blade over the surface of a tomato and it will slice through the skin. I can do that with my Swiss Army knife blade, but not the Blur. Is this just the way it's supposed to be?
I bought my first OD Green Blur off amazon 6 years ago and it's been though the ringer all of its life. I learned to really appreciate the knife years after I got it and it became really sentimental to me. I need to get myself another one with a better steel in it. I agree, they are the best knives under 100.
Best bang for the buck USA made Knife. Period. The best EDC knife I have ever had. Recently, getting arthritis in my hands, I appreciate the blur: easy one hand opening , good edge, great action, great grip and blade design great execution Running $85-95 now. $85-$95 in 2024. If you need to do it all EDC, you can’t go wrong.
It is my edc and has been for a while. The Blur is my favorite knife. Everything about it is perfect for me. Size. Build. Blade. And I also love the thumb stud. Not sure why Kershaw doesn't use it on others. Maybe because this is a Ken Onion design and they can only use it on the Blur. Ken Onion designs are amazing. I live all if his. This one is his best I think. I wish he and Kershaw didn't have a falling out and he would still be working with them. And the recurve is just big enough to be affective, but still easy to sharpen. At least I think so. But I have a Work Sharp Ken Onion sharpener. And it is easy on that. Love that sharpener too. The Blur still has a huge following even after all these years. It was not a homerun. It is a grandslam. I currently have 6 Blurs and would live more if them.
I agree. The design of this makes it so easy to pull out, deploy, use, and put away, using one hand and without effort. I own a lot of knives, but nothing is as efficient as the blur. The recurve design also has it's advantages as far as cutting goes.
I have the olive version with 14C28N steel. It's been my edc for over three years of daily use. It's a little beat up and the blade has no play and I've never had to tighten it. Regular sharpening as needed and the finish on the aluminum is still holding up well. The blur has been my favorite for a very long time. Definitely going to pick up the S30V version
The Blur s30v is made in the USA and a great knife. The blur has been my EDC for the last 15 years. That being said, I just ordered a Doug Ritter RSK MK1 G2. to add to the rotation.
I would agree. The Kershaw Blur is very well thought out. But one thing I don't like is the recurve. Yeah it's functional. But can people do the sharpening themselves? No. I wish the tanto blade shape came in S30V, and I'd be sold out on this.
Had my blur since 2015. Only complaints have been the pivot screw loosening. Otherwise, since I'm a lefty, I'd lock the option for other screw points for the pocket clip, but I've since adapted. Great blade overall for 8 years. Occasionally I caught and bent the pocket clip requiring me to buy a kershaw screw driver and ben back in place with pliers. I love the "turf" grip on the handles because it gives great traction security in the hand.
I bought the standard version of the blur in 2020, and they’re using 14c28n steel nowadays for what it’s worth. I dig it, it’s been a good pocket knife for me for the last few years. Cheers 🍻
The s30v version is still available, but you have to actually search for the s30v version. It's American forged, while the 14c28n version is china forged. Same frame design, different steels. The china version is usually about half the price.
I agree with your opinion. I've had two of them, both in olive green. Pawned the first one, instantly regretted it and bought another as soon as I could.
Blur is still probably my favorite knife, and i finally just got an s30v version. Ive had a dozen others, all sandvik steel models other than a couple that were bd-1. I gifted or traded most of them over the years. I decided i just dont like coated blades and most of the blurs ive had were coated blades.. so anyways i got a deal on an s30v and think it will live in my pocket permanently now. Also i have de-assisted a few blurs in the day and they still deploy just as fast without the spring ! Im late to this vid but great video nonetheless!
I bought the s30v blur after watching your video and just the other day realized that if you carry tip up, you pull back the thumb studs act like the emerson wave feature, i.e. self opening
I just got a PM 2 with C35vn. Nice steel but I like the liner lock better and not as much a fan of the Spidy hole. I just ordered a Blur with S30V. Won't be in for a couple days. The warrantee had be a bit worried. Lock up was an issue but a bit of sanding on the liner lock can fix that. Don't care much for recurve but it's not much and I'm ok with it. For the money it seems like a really good knife. Deep carry clips make it hard to pull out of my pocket. I don't care if it shows. Thanks for the review.
I agree I paid 89.00 dollars for mine I saw it on amazon for 74 but it was from a private seller and one of the comments said it was a fake s30v blade as it didn't have any description at all on the blade. I checked like 15 other spots online and they were all from 87.00 to 140.00 so I just got it from hq...very happy with it I wish I coulda got it for 75 but what can ya do...
The blur is an awesome knife. I have 2 of the sprint run, charcoal with M4 blade and its a tank of a knife!! I've carried it for almost a year straight and its holding up very well. I swapped the factory clip for a deep carry and it made it even better. 🇺🇲
I had an earlier version of that knife and I really miss it. I've had it for at least 12 years and it must of fallen out of my pocket someplace. Kershaw makes a fantastic knife, especially for the money. I'm probably going to go with the S30V as a replacement. Damn, I miss that knife!
I lost my last one and was heartbroken. No problem, found one in s30v on ebay for $50! As long as they make these, it will always be my edc! Great video.
I loved my Kershaw Blur in s30v, but I didn’t care for the pocket clip, so I ended up giving it away. Lately though, I’ve considered getting another one and installing an after market deep carry pocket clip.
I bought mine a few days ago and I'm so excited to get it. I got the same model you have. S30v black handle stoneware blade. Great video. I'll let you know what I think k once I put it through its paces.
I’ve got 3 Blurs. Love this knife, been carrying it for 4 or 5 years. Makes a great bottle opener as well, if you don’t mind the scratches. No need to spend a few hundred dollars on a pocket knife while this is around.
Kershaws s30v holds an edge more than my benchmade in s30v. But neither hold one nearly as well as the old blur 14cr. I sharpen it once a year and carry it frequently, always stays shaving sharp
That knife is straight up beautiful haha. I was sold on getting a blur already but was leaning towards the tanto style. Your vid is seriously swaying me to get the s30v I like the finish and contrast looks great with the handle. Idk if that's an iphone you filmed with but the picture looks great btw.
S30v is worth the extra $15-30 plus if you ever get tired of it it's value retention is way better. I really don't know why more people don't get s30 or other premium steels in EDC knives.
Great knive! Just ordered two (blackout and S30V classic). A question: are there any other knives that have similar texture on the scales? (like Blur and Microtech SOCOM)???
The reason the linerlock is steel is that it pretty much has to be. Most of the handles are 6061 aluminum with is about the same aluminum as a soda can but way thicker. The linerlock will bend or chip when there is alot of force put on the blade especially force towards the closed direction.
That aluminum is pretty strong. I slammed my Kershaw Leek in a minivan trunk door accidentally and it did more damage to the van door. The Leek handle is the same anodized aluminum and I can't even find a scuff anymore.
You can buy the blur for 44$/45$ in BDZ1 steel in oddball handle colors. Ive got a puple handle tanto also a tiger strip blade.they are strait edge tanto
I'd personally say that the Manix 2 Lightweight would be a better sub $100 blade. Back when I got mine I think it was $65 new for the blue handled one. I prefer the bladeshape and lock though I will say that the blur wins in blade material and overall quality of construction. I also prefer non-assisted knives though.
Not knocking the blur because it is a really solid well rounded knife for sub. 100.00$. But the manix 2 LW, delica, endura, and even the rat 1 & 2 in D2 are very good choices in that sub 100.00$ price range also.
I've actually been looking in to purchasing this knife, but after reviewing everything I have to wonder here a bit. Why are so many "pre-owned" Blurs being offered for sale? If it was a really good knife, I doubt the owners would so readily part with them.

If you need to do it all EDC, you can’t go wrong.
I almost forgot to mention the grip texture and grip angles are ideal for me

I’ve bought several of them with Sandvik steel blades for under 60 bucks a piece. Best bang for the buck I’ve found yet. Awesome vid as always!
I agree. The design of this makes it so easy to pull out, deploy, use, and put away, using one hand and without effort. I own a lot of knives, but nothing is as efficient as the blur. The recurve design also has it's advantages as far as cutting goes.

May be an old video, but nothing changes about the blur. Outstanding knife. Best sub $100 knife with Kershaw’s warranty behind it.
The Blur s30v is made in the USA and a great knife. The blur has been my EDC for the last 15 years. That being said, I just ordered a Doug Ritter RSK MK1 G2. to add to the rotation.
I’m on my second one in s30v. Lost my first one at work at was heart broken. Great knife!!
I would agree. The Kershaw Blur is very well thought out. But one thing I don't like is the recurve. Yeah it's functional. But can people do the sharpening themselves? No. I wish the tanto blade shape came in S30V, and I'd be sold out on this.

Bought this knife today. Cant wait to get it in the mail.
no the other kershaw is 14c28n a swedish steel. and 8cr13mov is basically aus 8. 440c is better than 9cr18mov which is better than 8cr13mov. 8cr13mov
Kershaws s30v holds an edge more than my benchmade in s30v. But neither hold one nearly as well as the old blur 14cr. I sharpen it once a year and carry it frequently, always stays shaving sharp
This has been my favorite ever since I had seen it !
Nutnfancy did one wway back cant find. Recently got another 10 out of 10 build quality and surprisingly slicey. Very nostalgic
i HAVE AN s30v Blur. and luv that knife. Easy to depl;oy, sharpen and close safely
Just a cheaper alternative to the ZT 0562 or Hindered XM 18 and I love mine (deactivated speed assist on mine) got one for my son too!
That knife is straight up beautiful haha. I was sold on getting a blur already but was leaning towards the tanto style. Actually prefer my blur (in s30v just like that one) over my Spyderco PM2 for EDC, super fun to play with and use
Kershaw blur seems like the best knife $for$ great all around steel is great what are your thoughts on the new sprint run m4 blur
That's a freaking steal for $75! I love the texture on the scales
Ricky Huse It definitely is! Wish there were more knives out there like the Blur!
S30v blur has been my carry for years. None better for the price point
Great knive! Just ordered two (blackout and S30V classic). A question: are there any other knives that have similar texture on the scales? (like Blur and Microtech SOCOM)???
Kershaw Camber 1678
Picked up the Walmart blur today for 63 plus tax

You can buy the blur for 44$/45$ in BDZ1 steel in oddball handle colors. Ive got a puple handle tanto also a tiger strip blade.they are strait edge tanto
Just got one, in the mail
Ken Onion is the man
14c28n is the original. Its scandi steel came up with partially by kershaw.
I second that. The manix 2 LW is really good. In my top three favorite knives of all time for sure.
Not knocking the blur because it is a really solid well rounded knife for sub. 100.00$. But the manix 2 LW, delica, endura, and even the rat 1 & 2 in D2 are very good choices in that sub 100.00$ price range also.
My all time fav. When you open it it says BLUR Beng!
Can't get past the blade recurve and the assisted opening. Also prefer a larger blade around a half inch longer than this. Good review though.
Love mine....totally worth the ripped up pocket lips.
I have a Blackwash version, very nice knife, love mine.
Kershaw link is great! I like the link better. There’s a version with the better steel as well around $80
The regular one is 14c28n steel
Cold Steel Recon 1?
Thought the Kershaw Blur was a Ken Onion design? 🤔
Kershaw offers a veteran's discount that makes this knife an amazing deal!
Developer was Ken Onion, not chris reeves
I've actually been looking in to purchasing this knife, but after reviewing everything I have to wonder here a bit. Why are so many "pre-owned" Blurs being offered for sale? If it was a really good knife, I doubt the owners would so readily part with them.
It isnt because people dont like them. It's because there are so many out there. They're like Toyota Camrys. Great cars, but they're everywhere.
You might not see this but the reason I got one about a month ago is because my grandpa has had one for like 4 or 5 years
😊👍
just got the black coated on for 34$ on amazon
Nice!!
james thrasher but not that steel bud.
I have had mine for a few years. I think I paid 100 cad taxes in
I still have mine since 09 march
kurshaw stiffarm i can flip fast no spring or pins attached
Is that the dodge ram long horn edution?
Yes. I used to work at a dealership. Across all my videos, I probably sat in every trim RAM offered between 2015 - 2018.
Just won my new one on Ebay for $50.....Yes, blade is S30V
The current price of the s30v blur is $149
No. Its $89 on Blade HQ. Not sure where you're looking, but it's way too high.
@@metal_complex I was looking on the kershaw website. I'll check out blade HQ. Thanks for the info!
Ya thats MSRP. Retail is much lower 👍
yes 70 to 75 bucks
Looks like she has never used that knife at all.
Log Home I asked her yesterday how often she used it. She said 5-8 times a week consistently on cardboard. Not much use.
