I'm a retired Home Health Aide and we where taught how to help our patients to wash their hands. I ask the teacher and OT how to help my son and I was told my job wasn't the same. Now their asking for AIDES in the home. I thank the GOOD LORD for my training and my patients care book. Oh yeah my son is autistic and I work with him everyday.
I know this has nothing to do with the behavior being reinforced; however, her hands are still dirty because she used her clean hands to turn off the faucet. How many people go through the day doing the same step she should have used the paper towel to turn off the faucet.
@@glaswasser going from clean to dirty, used unclean hands to turn the faucet on, then using the clean hands to turn the faucet off. It defeats the purpose of washing your hands in the first place! Dah!
That was too hectic and the voice wasn't soothing. Neurotypical people aren't expected to wash their hands this fast, so why would you expect a person with autism to do so? Show some compassion. Many people with autism struggle to process what they're learning, correct? So slow it down.
So helpful this is the first time I was able to understand backward chaining

I'm overjoyed at this demonstration!
Fantastic example of backward chaining! Thank you!
THANK YOU. Explained and demonstrated clearly 👏🏼
So helpful! thank you for the definition!
Thank you! This made it clear.
Thank you, it was a helpful demonstration
The learner appears to be scrubbing their hands as they are rinsing off the soap together in one step. Not sure if this was intentional?
Thanks for the information
Thanks this was very helpful👍😊
Thank you
All of you experts should make your own videos so you can show everyone how smart you are.
Thank you!
❤
why would you add in verbal instructions at each step? These would need to be faded in order to achieve independent responding
I was thinking the same thing! Verbal prompt is the hardest prompt to fade
Its great
muito bom

you can also overdo it, lol. I've been doing this for all my life and I'm still alive.

I do not think the verbal instructions were needed in this example of backward chaining....
I think the girl is smart enough to see how others wash their hands to copy this mechanism for herself.
The therapist's voice is scary, almost like a horror scene.
So you're scared of optimism? lol
SCRUB SCRUB SCRUUUB
I would agree!! I had a similar therapist like that from 5-9.
Great, but tokens in the bathroom -- nothing edible. People don't eat in bathrooms.
Lol
And the fact that the girl is applying soap to dry hands, as if that is going to lather well!

I bet her hands are not cleaner than before
why give her the treat in the bathroom and then allow the little girl to rest her hands on the dirty sink afterwards? Ew...
its called immediate reinforcement. This allows the likelihood of the behavior of drying hands independently to increase.
Seriously, this woman doesnt even know how to wash hands, she has the girl applying soap to dry hands, soap does not lather well on dry hands!
Thank you
