Ironically I am a baseline and love this racquet after switching from a pure aero. I had plenty of spin as I used to play western, but now play semi. I consider myself an aggressive junkballer and the weight completed my game.
Yes i have played with the RF, and i think that the string is the most important, now i have played like a year with a pair of pt280, and the feeling is superior, but when i play 3hrs tires a little bit, for me its like a good feeling RF ( not much important in this the string); now i am with the youtek ig radical pro customized and i have hear is near the pro stock version...in the future im looking the posibility of a pt57, do you think in terms of feeling, its much diference beetwen a pt280/630 and the pt57? (The part of the silicon on the pro stock makes a lot difference?)
@@cholodoc6253 No, it is not much difference. But the PT57A is better for customization due to the lower weight. If you like your PT630 I see no reason to get a PT57A since they do cost quite a bit.
And the obligatory question: Do you think Federer uses the mold of the retail RF autograph? .....I like to see for example in the forum of TW, some says its a pro stock with the same mold, other ones that have had the real Federer racquet that its the same of the retail....what doy think? (The real stuff i know its a great great racquet, but you think its the same with that stock weight with a little bit of weight and customization (plus the natural gut/Luxilon)?
@@cholodoc6253 Yeah, it has been well established that he uses a stock version, but they pick out a heavier batch...I actually customized a racquet to his exact spec here: ruclips.net/video/-L1YYHyzizI/видео.html There is also a post on Tennisnerd.net: tennisnerd.net/gear/racquets/pro-player-racquets/roger-federers-racquet-2/3065
Nice review man! Thanks you! Have you tried the 97 315 grams version? I have the 2014-15 315g red and black version but have to play it more and find the proper tension. Right now there is the all black 315 version, but one with CV dampening technology, and also the same racquet without CV
Hi Jorge, Thanks! I have tried the 315 grams version, but not the CV one. I felt like the stringbed was a little unpredictable with that version, but it helps to add some lead tape at 3 and 9. My friend who is a former Futures tour player has used that racquet for many years and loves it however. In general, I'm not a fan of Countervail racquets so I'd use the one without in that case. For me, the CV tech makes the racquets too muted.
Don't worry, I didn't find it that bad, just felt I really couldn't dial in the same control as I can with the RF97 with that racquet. But that can be a personal thing. Like I said, my buddy who is a ex pro player swears by them and he doesn't add any lead tape whatsoever!
Where did you find the actual specs of Fed? Yours came out soooo close it’s a beauty of a comparison. Keeping in mind the hybrid setup is just a tad lighter than full poly. Btw hybrids of soft Mains and poly Crosses feel sooo good!
You are not alone! I would check out: Dunlop Srixon CX 200 Tour, Angell K7 Red with lead tape, Prince Phantom 93P, Wilson Ultra Tour (will need lead tape too). These are all softer options. Remember that the string is a big part of the racquet...
Good videos.... thanks for the upload. i have been playing with the rf97 for over a year now and have tried several string set ups. any chance you could share some of the strings that worked for you in this racquet? Ive never tried natural gut poly hybrid but have tried full poly and syn gut poly hybrid around 48-52 lbs.
I'm actually experimenting more with strings in this racquet right now. What I've tried: Luxilon Alu Power (works good for me!), Solinco Hyper-G (I didn't like this as much), Volkl Cyclone 1.25 yellow (felt too stiff), RPM Blast + VS Natural gut hybrid (really nice, but expensive setup). Next experiment is to tweak mine like Federer's - so power pads, string savers, and Champions Choice strings, same weight and balance. Will report back how it plays!
Tennisnerd great... much appreciated if you can comment on your experience with that set up... i tried syn gut mains poly cross. But i dont think im getting close to the string snapback in feds set up...
Idd... you can try to copy a set up like Federer's.. though I wouldn't recommend the expensive Natural gut... I use a Babolat RPM blast rough (1.3 mm) overall, but I tend to look for a second softer string for the mains... I use 53-55 lbs
iG W after trying hybrids to emulate natural gut, I still recommend paying double for gut :) because they stay PLAYABLE until snapping (in something like a Federer setup) If you have your own stringing machine it helps ;) because you can replace the crosses without cutting out the mains! When I string gut/Poly sometimes the gut lasts longer than the Poly (as long as you keep it dry). It certainly lasts 3x longer than any multi filament (I guarantee that gut is better value than nxt, xcel, ...) My experience is using babolat vs team 1.25 in the mains with luxilon alu rough in crosses at 48/45lbs in a prostaff 90. If you live in UK, France etc. You don't need to pay more than £26 for full set of "vs team natural gut" (shop online at: 'stringers world' UK). Then you can use any slippery string (monofilaments) that enables the gut to keep playing playably I. E. recoiling away smoothly without excessive notching on the crosses. (notching on the mains is inevitable). I use "weiss cannon silverstring" on crosses to lower the average cost of the setup. If cost is the only issue, I recommend you invest in a reel of cheap Poly as a compromise for the expensive gut hybrid because multifilaments lose playability to the point they become furry and therefore lock the strings into a stiff plank! Lastly if you still can't be bothered to pay, then the closest thing is Wilson sensation 16 and silverstring 18 (strung in low tension hybrid). The sensation string notches and loses tension fast but doesn't fray, which is a good thing when the strings get old and locked into each other) and - doesn't go crap as quickly as multi filaments (rip off strings). You'll need a spare racket for wet weather if you use gut fyi
I love the prostaff 85... I bought the rereleased one and I love it... but I think it's time to upgrade to a bigger headsize. This racket seems to me like it would be perfect.
Hi Ellie, I think you ordered the Pro Staff UL. If you are 16 that should definitely not be too heavy for you, possibly too light. But you can always add some lead tape if you want more stability. Good luck! Cheers / J
Loving the review series :) Keep up the good work . From a fellow racquetholic
Thanks Adam! Appreciate the feedback!
Your backhand slice has a lot of action with that stick

"aggressive junkballer" LOL did not know that style of play..... does that mean you hit hard to the centre of the court?
Baka Loko I love slicing the ball all over the court, and my game is very based on a lot of spin
6:30 Not out.
Yes, bad call! I try to avoid cheating but if I have to... :)
Actually I think it might have been. From this angle it’s extremely difficult to tell, but it is most likely out from what I can see
Who gives a fuck?
Which one do you Like most ...RF autograph or Head Pt280/630?
I play better with the RF97A, but I prefer the feel of the PT630 :)

Tennisnerd how unpredictable? I did add lead at 3 and 9, and made it more stable, does help!

Yes, it is a very good racquet!
I ordered this racket but it's 290g and I'm 16 years old. My previous racket was 284g. Do you think that 290g is gonna be heavy for me ?

@@Tennisnerd thanks for answering !!:)
5:26 Good morning! :-)
What tensión do you use in This video?
My go-to string tension for polys: 23 kg! :)
Federer is a baseliner and you said that this racquet isn't for baseliners lol
Good point, I meant baseline grinder. Federer is quite aggressive and frequently comes to the net to finish points.
You need to fix your forehand technique man...
Every tennis video there's always the perfect form guy, shut the fuck up.
This guy some how made serving look gay.
I laughed so hard thanks man
