This is a really cool idea, if I didn't have two more kids to help through college, I'd buy up a couple of the Hertz Model 3's and go racing!

Thank you for shedding some light on EVs and motorsports. As someone that I personally consider a big (and influential) name in automotive journalism, this is a very important video. I am and will ALWAYS be a fan of ICE cars. I also happen to own a Tesla Model 3 Performance, after saying I'd never own an EV. I'm just a car guy. I don't care what powers it. The guys at Mountain Pass Performance are doing great things, and I look forward to (hopefully) some East Coast events.

I tried tracking my little Cupra Born 3 times last year. As you described heat soak on everything between the battery and motors is a huge problem. Since mine has no real differentials and only one motor on the rear and the ESC in sport mode is permanently doing minute breaking its only good for 10-15 minutes of lets say sporty driving. Sticker and wider tyres with non aero wheels did not help that much. So basically its a different driving style; you have to listen to what the tyres are doing, remember your speeds + entry points and babysit it through the corners. Still fun of course, but different.😅

Fun car to drive in Gran Turismo around the Nordschleife, many mods available in the game to tune it as well
The VR experience feels surreal, just like driving it irl

Fun fact: all of the Tesla haters that will show up in the comments didn’t watch the entire video and are not even track racers.

I thought stock RWD model 3 was 211kw, or ~283 hp. Not 350hp like he said.

Especially after rebuilding the engine yourself! Rowing through the gears with a good h shift on a freshly rebuilt engine is heaven and a great rewarding experience. I like the instant response of my EV but it gets old after a while and nothing beats the man machine interaction with an h shift ICE car. Flappy paddle cars are fun for a bit but they are too much like a video game, not nearly the same rewarding feeling for running a great lap.

Yeah my thoughts exactly, he even had to play some music over the track driving just keep the video interesting. They make great commuting appliances but it stops there. I daily an EV and trackday an h shift ICE, that's the way it's going to be for me from here on out.

@@ZEPRATGERNODTTesla is fine. Elon is an egomaniac. He condemns media for spreading misinformation yet he’s turned Twitter into his own personal media agenda funnel. He’s power hungry and an attention whore. I had to block him because I wasn’t following him yet his tweets were consistently forced into my feed. All he does is start problematic conversations just to disrupt. He doesn’t treat folks well, he’s notorious for treating staff like 2nd rate citizens if they have opposing opinions to his.
