I always find it funny when people get mad over hard mode being hard
To be fair, its only warranted as criticism if the game is unfairly hard.
KH so far nailed the hard but fair when it comes to Proud and Critical modes aside from KH BBS PSP where it's more how fast you can mash the dodge button than actually learning the fight 100% (looking at you PSP Mysterious Figure).

Even the devs know that fight was hard but unfair.

MF is still as hard as he is in the psp version.
The only change is, the Tornadoes don’t allow Juggle Reprisals. Only his air grab allows you to Air Slide away.
It’s swapped from psp.
However, they nerfed No Heart.
MF has always been hard.
But No Heart was the one that’s been far more broken.
Bc in Psp fm, he kept spamming that explode and had lag bs as well if your wireless wasn’t good.
Meaning he could’ve been spamming that command lock over and over.
MF was on the poorer side of the balance, No Heart had no balance.

NH was far more busted than MF was.
Remember NH was part of the Mirage Arena.
And Psp Mirage arena was multiplayer focused.
Meaning the ORIGINAL FIGHT of NH was meant for 3+ players to fight him.
But he was so busted that the mines did little (yet guaranteed) damage. He could block the surges. He could use a Keyblade transform to negate shotlocks. He could grab you out of dodge.
So, bud.
When I say “unskilled” I was mostly joking.
But when I put it into context, it is far more hurtful when you know how brutal OG versions were.
I like the one that described Haley Joel Osment's "sudden puberty" as if puberty is a completely unpredictable phenomenon for an adolescent to experience

Seeing Jared rant is always a pleasure, especially when it comes to people calling the series a kid's game. The games may be rated E10+, but they're so much more than just games for kids to play. I can speak to this personally because I was introduced to the series when I was in college, when I was in my early 20s. Fast forward to now, and I've been playing the games for almost 20 years (just 2 more years away!). The games spoke to the kid in me, as I like to try and stay young at heart.
Tbh this game is way too complex for a kid to understand completely. I played as a young child and honestly had only like half the story figured out until replaying it in my teens/adulthood 😂😂

I think this is the biggest part of the problem when it comes to people not understanding the story.
Birth by sleep wasn't on anything but the PSP until later, so lots of people didn't play it.
Birth by Sleep is literally the most important story game in the entire series.

I did however skip CoM on GameBoy until playing ReCoM on PS2 later on, so KH2 was basically me going off KH1 and Roxas’s flashbacks for context as a 5 year old… but at 5, just KH1 and KH2 alone had me thinking I fully understood the story, while in truth I was missing like so many basic things; like THE WHOLE CASTLE OBLIVION ARC, or like Riku being the actual master of the Kingdom Key and not Sora, or why Mickey left in the first place, or why Sora and Kairi got separated at the end of KH1, or why Ansem collected princesses of heart, or why Ansem wanted to open Kingdom Hearts, or why Xemnas now wanted to open Kingdom Hearts again if it’s just light behind it, also I literally thought Demyx was an evil version of Roxas since the whole game they never say Demyx’s name out loud and I was too young to read journals 😂😂😂
Just a whole lot of stuff, some of it I thought I had figured out and some I just assumed there was more to learn and more to be explained in the future; I replayed the games for years on end but it wasn’t until playing it as an older person that all of the pieces clicked how they’re supposed to, and of course it helped me understand further when ReCoM, BBS, Days, and ReCoded came out as well.
I was 18 when KH3 came out so no trouble understanding there; while I do have my grievances with KH3, the story is one of the aspects I really loved (although I do wish it was longer).
I lost it with the "You got a problem with people being best friends or something" 😂
You gotta understand, not everyone likes to have fun.

I think deep jungle would be amazing now especially with sora's new movement can imagine using flow motion and air step to ping pong around the trees and grabbing vines and running up massive trees it would be awesome

I absolutely agree that the Gummi ship sections of KH1 are really bad (not even colorful. Just an empty, sickly mess of dull colors. Who wants to fly through that) and that the the worlds can be somewhat confusing, but I actually think KH1 has the most "lived in" worlds, next to KHIII. They actually feel like they need to be explored, and the fact that the game refrains from explicitly telling you what to do and where to go really adds to that. I also think that KH1 is the best-paced in terms of story, and actually makes the Disney worlds feel _important_ in terms of the overall narrative, moreso than many of its followups (expect for, again, KHIII.) A lot of the Disney characters in KH1 are active paricipants in the story, which makes the interactions you have with them more meaningful.
I think KH2 is the perfect game and I actually like that it has a lot of cutscenes. That one guy is right about KH1 it could use more cut scenes especially with the confusing parts. It's not that I'm skipping the cutscenes it's just that I'm enjoying the story not using it as a walkthrough strategy guide that I should follow step by step.
KH1 has tech xp, which KH2 doesn't have. I miss that aspect.
Doing one for KHIII would be some Grade A material. Legendary stuff.

In general, most of the KH community was disappointed at best by KH3.

Funnily enough, i agreed with some points here. Reaction commands are fun in some bosses and enemies, but it's mostly a "press triangle to win" mechanic, and KH1's highlight is easily the exploration, something most of the following games ignores
Things like this are why i can't choose a favorite from the 3 main games, they all do different things that i like separately

People hate everything that's good. I'm not surprised at all.
The better something is and the more people that like it. The more people that hate it also.
None of the games are perfect but most of them have more positive than negative and the positives tend to be amazing which is why so many people love this series.The key in my opinion is knowing what kind of storyteller Nomura is, he does'nt plan things out instead he thinks of something that would be a cool idea for the series and then tries to connect it to the rest so it flows naturally. And it my opinion this works most of the time, there's never been a time where I could'nt follow where he was going with a game and could get invested easily. So it all comes down to if a new fan can roll with that or not, and if they can the gameplay is another fun incentive to try too.

KH is my favorite game series but I agree. The Gummi ship navigation is freaking terrible and I hate doing it. Just like in arkham knights I hated having to drive the batmobile. I really wish they would do away with mandatory Gummi battles and navigation in KH4.
See I thought the same thing until I played BBS, which gave us exactly that; gummi-less travel…
However upon receiving such a concept actually in-game, I will say it felt empty just hopping to the next world on my hover-key-armor-thing.
For me, the gummi ship is the song of a caged bird. I used to sing all day about removing the silly barriers between worlds, but once my cage was actually opened and I was set free, I realized only how much I’ve fallen in love with truly every aspect of my gummi-cage…
A KH game without gummi ship just feels like something important is missing.
However, I will say I like that they at least spiced it up with each gummi version, going from basic KH1 gummi ship travel, to a vastly more advanced gummi ship in KH2, to an even more vastly advanced gummi ship in KH3 literally traveling freely through space obstacles.
The one time world barriers felt truly and utterly stupid to me was in DDD where there was no need for a gummi ship so instead they introduced Deep Dives, which I thought was cool for the very first time… but then when I realized it was EVERY SINGLE WORLD, I personally despised every second of it.
Maybe this is how gummi feels to some who don’t like it, but like, I’m sorry it’s been here since the beginning and I feel naked without my gummi.
There’s also the fact that it’s been kinda canonically established as a thing with a reason, so to undo it like BBS did kinda makes no sense. You can’t travel worlds without first clearing and unsealing the gateway/route which is blocked by dark nasties in the process of infecting the world you’re visiting.
Since Sora is in Quadratum it could work canonically to do without the gummi ship, like DDD, but if we actually want to travel worlds in KH4 without teleporting thru dark corridors we will need some trusty gummi pilots for lore sake.
@king yoloman I'm just saying making it mandatory to do it. Players should be able to do it as a mini game if they desire or just have the space travel be part if a cut scene going in to the next world.

It’s just that the mandatory style kinda makes you EARN each level you unlock, so idk half of me really doesn’t care if everyone else skips because I know I’ll still be 100%ing no matter what; but then another part of me gets slightly bothered by the concept since gummi has always been a mandatory rite of passage…
It’s less about wanting to control other’s experiences, truly, and more about preserving the gummi mindset & tradition, I’m a nostalgic mess I know.
Like I said though, maybe it’s worth a shot doing optional gummi. I just don’t want it completely removed, especially after KH3’s new gummi design SHEEEESH 🔥 (I wouldn’t mind going back to a KH2 style world map tho tbh, or at least an option to switch back and forth between space and the map, since flying ALL the way across space and remembering world locations does get tedious)

Only thing I don't like about KH is the gummy ship building sections. Luckily you can get by with minimal effort.
Most open world flying sections if you stick to the outside you can fly past most gummi ship bosses.

Even with the problems of Kingdom hearts 1 it's still a really good start to the series at least in my opinion, I still go back to it heck I still play all of them.
The one that always gets me is the camera, lol. Like I understand the original KH camera was shit, but I played Ocarina of Time, and you just get used to it. Other than that, I've never had an issue with the camera in any game ever, including games known for having a bad camera. Like, do people really get their nuts twisted over it? Idk, it's weird.
I feel like these situations they maybe aren't adapting to using it while playing siumultaniously ; (like the camera is part of controlling your character, or in some 3rd person games, I actually consider myself to be the camera as the observer of the character). Or possibly some will not use it at all, except for when they funnel themselves into an essential 180 rotation or something.
But we can adapt to using a 'bad' camera.. You don't have to of course but if it's a 'bad' camera, - working with it and learning what to do (and perhaps more importantly what not to do) will go a long way. I don't tend to consider camera issues in games a big deal so it's a curious thing to consider why people react like this so often.
If you want to see badly reviewed kingdom hearts 3 g4 is the place

The deep jungle was literally my most hated world for years, I grew up alongside kingdom hearts ( was born the same year) and when I was old enough to play it I would never be able to get past the boss fight, it took me years to actually figure it, so long that I played kh2 completely before retrying, idk why but only when I got the scan ability was I able to actually beat the damn thing, the vines comment just made me have PTHD ( post traumatic heartless disorder)
The misspelling is glorious. It's like these people can't just sit down and enjoy some childlike fun XD

Also what the people said about the combat in KH1 being monotonous and boring I actually agree with. The Final Mix version definitely helped relieve that quite a lot but KH1 definitely had more bland combat than the games that followed.
Please keep doing these. They're fun and I kinda now have a morbid curiosity to see the reviews of the rest in the series. XD

The North American branch was for Square to release their games in the West, and it was named "Square Electronic Arts", while "Electronic Arts Square" was the Japanese counterpart, focusing on some PC releases by EA. this video is so necessary man, because it takes out some mysticism about the supposed universal hate that Kingdom Hearts 3 have for some people online. All games from the franchise are accompanied by a crowd of people with arguments to hate it from the inner parts of their souls. And it's all okay because as the poet used to say "the haters gonna hate"
Yeah but these are memes because the reviews are invalid. There are many objectively valid criticisms to have toward KH3 considering it was restarted mid-development and rushed out the door.

@@petroscardoso I think that’s fair, but we need to be careful not to Stan ourselves down a path of lootboxes and season pass skins as NFT’s because I guarantee that’s Squares next big idea if we just go along with it and refuse to “hate”.
Some things must be criticized loudly and clearly by the fan base otherwise they will get away with it and make it look like we’ve been agreeing with them the entire time, such as moving BBS and Nomura’s other future titles to handheld while FF took the PS3; we’ve been getting the short end of the stick because some of these people insist that it IS a perfect game and just want to drown out criticism and “ooh Disney” their way thru the series… which is fine, those people deserve to enjoy their game, but like what I don’t understand about so many of those people is how can you be so willingly ignorant to blatant facts, yet demand a space online to spread overhype garbage within. Like these Stan’s come out of the woodlands in bands for this game for the simple reason that they don’t like that criticism exists around a game that deserves to be criticized. They’re going to drive the series into the ground exclaiming they love problematic things and we’re just going to continue to end up with whatever is left from Square Enix’s Tokyo FF budget plans.
At some point the adults need to step up and have logical discussions, while the ignorant kids who want to be ignorant kids forever should just go play.

Bro do you know where you are? This is not a KH3 video - and you’re wrong.
The “most amazing and perfect KH3” was the one which Tokyo Team was making for us on Luminous Engine (2 and 1/2 years into development and reported >40% complete) before SquareCorp stole our devs for FF7R and gave the task of finishing KH3 to Osaka Team who restarted the game from nothing in Unreal Engine and made it floaty and failed to listen to fans.
The story was good but it should’ve been longer than the last PS2 game was.
I loved the upgrades such as flow-motion and world size and graphics which we saw in KH3, but all of that was there before the restart, those upgrades were already coming regardless from Tokyo Team, and we got less than what was originally planned after the fact.
Square screwed us on KH3 and they’re screwing us currently on KH4 by assigning the slow budget team to our game from the start this time; also there’s no release date or updated UE5 trailer for KH4, despite the game being in development since 2019 that’s over 4 years; meanwhile Forspoken, FF7R2, FF16, FF Origins Stranger Of Paradise, and FF Crisis Core Reunion all coming this year on PS5, all developed in 3 years or less in Tokyo studios.
Tokyo devs famously work 80-90 hour weeks, in order to meet release window deadlines etc.
Meanwhile Osaka devs are not allowed overtime which is more than 40 hours per week, which would make them cost $1.5x per hour; which goes completely against the budget philosophy Square chose upon starting KH4 with Osaka to save money.
KH fans always show up regardless, FF is hit or miss with the fan base, and these new IP’s like Forspoken are generally a huge risk of flopping.
Therefore, Square Corporate favors us last since they know they can get away with saving money on us and charging us full price anyway.
It’s the same plans they had in 2006 when they brought FF to PS3 and left KH scattered across different handheld systems, instead of making BBS, Days, and Coded all their own fully fledged console games. They left us in the handheld dust for 10 years and we bought every game, then repurchased their light dev work in the remasters 3 MORE TIMES before the release of KH3 and 1 MORE TIME after it released on PC. We are Square’s best selling franchise, we always show up, no matter what we have to do or how far we have to go.
That’s why this time I’m pirating KH4 and playing it first on PC, deciding whether or not I like the game and feel they’ve earned $70 out of me, and if it’s any good I’ll buy it used on disc for less than $60 since I don’t support $70 games.
That’s just my opinion which I’m entitled to though, don’t go saying you didn’t post a comment asking for a reply, because you did. And don’t say I’m not letting you have your opinion either, you can have your opinion in the same space as I shall have mine. Thank you.

That was a grind fest to even make the Titans manageable.
I played KH1 when I was 11 and believe it or not, I completely understood the story, it was a one in a lifetime experience. It was indeed the remaster for PS4 so I will not understand the rants, however the cutscenes and all of the story fleshed out with beautiful unique gameplay sold the entire series for me, I love every single KH game including KH3. I can't wait for KH4, I'm overly hyped and going crazy! As soon as it comes out and no matter how expensive it is, ITS MINE.
Also that dude hating on the interactions between Sora and Riku was very unexpected....

Three things I wanna address towards the criticisms.
Cutscenes: Plenty of RPG are supposed to have cutscenes. It's called a Role-playing game for a reason. What's the point of a story if the role isn't implemented in the plot? While true, kh2 still holds the crown for having the longest cutscenes in the KH series, most of the time it's due to long awkward pauses, padding, and nothing much happening in the plot. But otherwise, the cutscenes are justified to tell a story.
Gummiships: I really didn't like doing any of the Gummi stuff in the games. I just want to go to the Disney world and just have fun. I really like what they did in KH3 where not only did they give you the option on where you want to go, but also let you explore the open space and find so many cool things like treasures, cameos, and even rare materials.
Difficulty: Difficulty is subjective when it comes to the game. If you're a longtime KH fan, then you should know how annoyingly hard Demyx was. So much so that people meme him. I, myself, had to stay up late just to beat him, and I was in Beginner's mode! Meanwhile, my nephews, who were eight at the time, managed to beat him with very little trouble. One of them only died twice in Standard mode while the other beat him on first try in Proud mode. So frankly, whether difficulty you're in, it's about your skills.
And I do agree that I shouldn't have to beat the boss on the final hit of the combo. That's just plain stupid and annoying and I'm glad future KH games fixed that.

I can relate to most if not all of these complaints. Those are all issues I’ve ran into myself at one point or another, especially when I was a little kid who sucked at video games. Honestly, though, hearing these negative reviews just makes me want to replay KH1 Final Mix 😂 The Deep Jungle one cracked me up. People can talk shit about the vines all they want, but at least it’s better than Atlantica.
We've gotta read the reviews for the other games. This is top tier content!

Still making top tier kh content! Although, i gotta ask, wouldn't the higher difficulties make enemies more of a damage sponge? Meaning you're gonna havta button mash more than on an easier difficulty? that's not a con I'd take to the table, but since others are and that's your response, then I'm either missing something or.., I suppose the only con I'd bring to the table is the very child-like humor that makes a man cringe and not show the game to his friends lol. Eventually we do, but you know what I mean. Humor can be whatever it wants though, so it's an overall well rounded franchise.
These reviews are funny, but that one about KH2 and CoM is specially bizarre. I heard some nonsense like this not that long ago as well, and I really don't understand why some people thinks KH2 is FREAKING INCOMPREHENSIBLE without CoM. I've jumped from 1 to 2 and at the time the only thing I hadn't fully understood was why Sora was asleep at the start (and the intro cutscene tries to tell a bit). Everything else is pretty much explained on things based in the game itself, or from KH1. CoM surely helps to have a better understanding in general, but it's not mandatory at all.
Pro tip for people who somehow still complain about using finishers on bosses: use thunder.

I love KH and KH1 is my favorite from the series but I’m surprised none of the negative reviews mentioned the platforming in kh1 because jumping always gave me trouble. Like the Riku race, maybe it’s just me but I found the jumping a little weird. 😂 Granted I had trouble with a lot of the older platform ers as well.
KH2 forces you to use a combo finisher to beat a boss isn't a bad thing, if you're epic you finish with style, but if you're lazy you you can just use a single thunder spell. (or any other instantly usable killing move, there's like 1000 of them geez)
GladHand is person who, if they ever have a kid, would always go all out on them in smash bros or some other game from their childhood, but then when the kid actually started to get genuinely good and be able to beat them they'd throw a hissy fit
Edit: also DylanC is right. None of the characters can be made into good bara art except like Pete and maybe 1 or 2 others

Personally, I think that Kingdom Hearts will always be a Two Playthrough series. The first one to just fuck around and find out, and a second one to actually play THE GAME and refine your skills.

I'm a big kingdom Hearts guy but the difficulty curve is weird on the first game. I actually had to beat the whole KH2 before I was good enough to go back and beat Wonderland and Deep Jungle without taking months then the rest of the game was easy. I think they did it so people couldn't rent it and get that far.
You decide your leveling speed at the very beginning of the game when the FF kids ask you those questions.
@@joshz2491 I had more of a problem with how confusing Wonderland and Deep Jungle were. Although also I didn't know what I was doing with the weapon choice or the FF kids so that might have made it more difficult. I rented KH1 a few times and couldn't beat Deep Jungle. Then later I bought KH2 which is one of the best games I've ever played and beat it. Then I went back and bought KH1 to beat that game. I still struggled with Alice in Wonderland and Deep Jungle but I did finally beat the Deep Jungle after a while. Getting to the Waterfall part was a relief because I knew I was close to beating that level. Then everything after that was easy. I didn't struggle with Atlantica like a lot of people talk about. Monstro was confusing but I feel like a got a little lucky because I ended up in the right places. Alladin's world was easy. Captain Hook's level was the easiest. Also Hollow Bastian was challenging but in a fun way not a frustrating way like Alice and Wonderland. There is something about being confused on the first level that bothers me more than being confused on the last level.
I don't recall having too much of an issue with getting through the game in 1. Infact I would find the shortcuts and easy ways to progress through the story since that's what mattered to me the most. To the point now that when I go back to 1 I find things I had no idea were in the game still hehe. Once I got to Hollow Bastion though that's when I started getting really stuck, my way out of it was doing the tournaments and getting the Olympia Keyblade when I was stuck at Riku Ansem. Nowadays I know that worked because the Olympia is a long keyblade and so there's a low chance of missing your attacks unlike with the Fairy Harp which is what I used at first as a kid.

I started playing KH 2.5 after it went on sale for epic, and I think my only complaint was random game crashes while I was playing, but I don't find that to the fault of KH 2.5 but more so the epic games port or my very weak laptop. at least I was able to keep consistent frame rate except against lingering will's beserk move in the final phase

When you have a real time action game that forces you you use a menu that doesn't pause or slow time, you've gotta either relinquish control of the the camera or movement to navigate the menu. In KH1 you could move, navigate the menu, AND still control the rotation of the camera all at the same time. It got better in KH2 thanks to the quick menu, but it still feels like arse navigating the menu in combat, even now.
My ONLY real complaint of KH games is that you have to grind a bit in the story. First playthrough is fine for me but it really drags on other playthroughs
