Victor R. Food stamps really do help my family. With out it we would be starving and eating barely even a meal a day. Maybe be a little more grateful??
Or they're just disgusting pigs. That breakfast he made had a dozen eggs in it, who the hell eats a dozen eggs 8 sausages, and 6 hash browns in one meal? Who even eats half of that?
@@owllymannstein7113 a family of 6? You do the math that’s 2 eggs, a little more then 1 sausage and 1 hash brown person. Which is a decent breakfast in my own opinion
There were times when I was so grateful to have a whole $20.00 for a week's groceries. A lot of people have no concept of what it's really like to FEAR having no money for food. Things are a lot better for me now as I have disability and a roommie to share the food budget with. But I had to have that fear for so long, I will never forget it. It comes out in a cranky anxiety if I think we have over spent our budget, but some how we squeak by. The fear never goes away,
The fear really doesn’t. I’m not wealthy but I could eat steak every night. I don’t and won’t. I can’t. I eat healthier and appreciate that but still scared
I am that guy who became disabled and now live on a meager budget. I love the dollar tree videos because when I only have 20$ to feed my family of 3 for the week it's where I go. We are all just one accident away from the poor house. Great video Larry!!!
I don't know if health regulations or whatever will still allow this but..... Speak with the manager at your local grocery store. All that fried or baked chicken in the deli department that they don't sell by the end of the night might be available for cheep or free if you're there when they are closing and it's obvious that it won't sell. My kids grew up on that chicken & "last chance" ground beef - one is a pharmacist and one is a teacher. You'll be okay, William.
@@sickofstupidppl6969 walmart sells the end of the night chicken now. They sell it half off and let it sit in cooler for 2 days. I buy them and heat em up at home
@@mattatk92 Good to know. Plus, I know that their day-old baked goods are well priced. Often times, being on a strict budget takes some creativity. A twenty pound bag of beans, rice, etc. is out of your budget at one time but isn't all that much per pound? Maybe it could be split four or five ways with your neighbors. Doesn't hurt to ask.
A huge benefit of the Dollar Tree that you didn't mention. There are a lot of people that live in a food desert and stores like the Dollar Tree or 7-11 are the only place they can buy food. Not everyone has the luxury of access to an actual grocery store. So thank you for focusing on these kind of stores.
Me and my husband have struggled for years, thankfully we were blessed with his current job! However we have been in situations where we have eaten box pasta with butter salt and pepper on several occasions. This meal can absolutely feed up to 8 people. Be THANKFUL for what you do have!
Dawg 😭 In my experience, if you hit dollar tree and get the small bags of cheese, they’re real. Learned the hard way trying to make pizza with the big bag of flavored plastic 😭😭
I love the beginning when you gave everyone a reality check! Not everyone can afford or has access to grocery stores. I am a mom of four and sometimes we have to go to the dollar store to stretch our dollar. The grocery stores close by are way over priced.
He uploaded a video to his RUclips channel for the first time in a year. I clicked immediately because I'm a subscriber. Then the legend passed away the next day. RIP Mr. Witherspoon. You are sorely missed. I hope he was able to finish filming the new Friday film and the new season of The Boondocks.
some people are so self centered...its not a matter of having to feed 8, its a matter of being able to. its a way to make a meal on a budget that all people need to understand
I love it when people think that they arent selfish and act all self righteous so they can make themselves feel better. Everyone is selfish in some way. Like caring about people in a struggle suddenly is weird. And im not trying to be a dick at all im just saying that everyone is selfish in some regard
Dollar tree accepts coupons so y’all can save even more money! Some items are completely free if you have $1.00 off coupons. Hope this helps someone out.
I got too excited when I got the coupons in my bag lol. But I was too afraid to use them there, since it was the Dollar Tree. I practically live there lol
@@skinni_the_P00hBear - don't be afraid or embarrassed. They collect the coupons and get whatever was taken off back from the company that issued the coupon. So if you have a coupon for $1 off the store (dollar tree, Walmart, ShopRite Publix / whatever) get $1 in the mail for every coupon they send in. That's why they have to collect the physical coupon and not a photocopy of one.
I just realized that my family hit that point where we shopped at the dollar tree for food before (I was pretty young) but I never really thought about it till now...
I think that happens way more often than people think... I, too, in retrospect, know that in my childhood there were times when my family was "squeezing dimes out of nickels"... yet, as children, we really do not notice and still enjoy the good food(even if it is cheap/inexpensive) and have fun with what we have... even if it is just making mud pies in the yard... i.e.: playing with dirt! :-)
Saying that doesnt feed 8 people just makes me realize how fat some of us are and how bad we over eat(And I used to over eat somethin' fierce). After my family lived with my Grandparents for awhile, we got used to cooking for like 9 people+some left overs, so when we did finally get our own house and my sister moved out, we continued to cook for 9 for quite awhile. It took some convincing my mom and brother that we dont need to make that much anymore.
I am fortunate enough to not have to worry about having food on my plate but I will say things that would serve 5 people that I could previously eat alone is not the same when you reach your 20’s. I can barely finish a serving for one now a days. Made me realize how much I used to eat
@@jadyn3191 it honestly might not be that much for 2-3 ppl based on calories forget about the size of it id say half of that frittata thing is about 350-375 cals

I used to overeat a lot. Before the pandemic I used to devour a 90 count bag of Tostitos pizza rolls every friday. During the pandemic I gained a lot of weight. I lost like 3/4s of it, but I still eat more than most people I'm pretty sure. If you're trying to lose weight, the key is to eat smaller portions (you dont have to change much of what you eat, but certian foods, like the pizza rolls, should go). Also, try not to eat 3hrs before bed, that goes straight to fat.
@@johnmonkelennon3900 you eat 6 eggs, some hash browns, and half a pack of sausages yourself? I can barely eat 2 of those tiny sauges and 3 eggs and a single hash brown to myself
When I was 25 I worked at a horrible minimum wage job and lived in the basement of a decent sized apartment occupied by a very greedy "roommate" and I would have literally killed for food like this.I was forced to survive on 5 dollars a week for food and ate almost exclusively Raman. The days where I was somehow able to afford something else be it a box of spaghetti noodles and a can of sauce or or a cheap pack of ground beef were like Thanksgiving to me. I like that you talked about how people may not be able to afford more than what's found at a Dollar Tree. Dollar stores such as Dollar Tree, Dollar General, and Family Dollars can be the only places with foods found in 'food deserts' across the country.
Your contributions, especially these low budget meals, are a blessing to those less fortunate. I've been there myself many times. Not trying to knock any wind out of your sail but a lot of people can't afford internet or a phone that has access to RUclips. I personally can't think of another way to get this information out to those people I don't know maybe try to get the videos shown in shelters or other places or maybe to the people who run the shelters so they can suggest it to people we're struggling. Just a thought. I commend you on all you and your wife are doing is fantastic! Just trying to figure out a way to get the message around all the people that's all
Most public libraries have Internet access, and for about 10 cents per page you can print out the recipe. Perhaps someone could do this, and give them out at shelters.
Thank you for doing these videos! You are right, so many people take even the smallest things for granted and don't understand what it's like to truly not have enough to eat. I have been at both ends of the spectrum: I've had it all and I've been briefly homeless, and I learned to never take anything for granted, things can change in an instant. I do know what it's like to be hungry, and not have enough to get full. Keep doing what you're doing, and please all of you nice people out there: count your blessings and don't think that it could never happen to you. Be kind to one another, all we have is each other!
You are doing a real service for people. There’s always someone who has to find something to complain about like they get paid to do it. Keep on keeping on.
This video was a random video that popped up on my feed, I only stopped to watch it because I saw that he was highlighting food insecurity and hunger struggle. I LOVE THAT! We need more RUclips stars doing that. It always bothers me when I see people wasting huge amounts of food for entertainment, and I have encouraged them to use those videos to highlight a charity that fights hunger in America. Thanks for being a voice for these struggles. You’ve gained a viewer.
"forced to work for minimum wage" that is a sad statement. minimum wage used to be the minimum amount you could reasonably live off of. now a days its more about the bare minimum that they can get away with paying you.
Yes. The government needs to re-asses minimum wage by county or district. Its an absolute joke. You have big corporations raking in billions a year only paying their workers $8.25/h in a county that requires a minimum of $2000/m of net income to survive. I don't agree with it. Either big companies need to grow up and quit being greedy or the government needs to step in and say "look, we gave you an opportunity to give back to the economy yourself, and all you're doing is nickel and diming your workers so we're going to make you." Places like McDonalds, Wendys, Walmart, Amazon, Microsoft, Comcast, R&L carriers, and numerous other large companies should start at $10-$13/hr depending on state, county and average living costs.
I have tried many of your "eating on a budget" meals before. They are all delicious and filling. I thank you very much. You are very entertaining, as well. I love your sense of humor!!
Being one of those 8 less fortunate people i can confirm that yes 1 meal a day even that amount is amazing on average for us its less than 1 meal a day usually but seeing these videos are very helpful at the very least for ideas to conserve 💰 and spread meals more.
I'm glad to see Hormel pepperoni, and not one of the brands that were recently recalled in your area over concerns about listeria. We, the people don't want to see you, the Larry get sick
I think these videos are great! I think you're really doing people of service by showing people what they can put together on a budget! I've been following your content for years and I am now a full-time content creator myself! Keep up the great work
Watching your videos especially during the quarantine with being laid off helps me save money on food and finding the best tasting cheap foods. Thank you!
I mean, it was probably just mediocre. People should really stop overreacting and see that it's not some terrifying lab-grown monstrosity, it's just a vaguely cheese-like product full of preservatives. Obviously, it's not a quality product, but if you're dirt poor it's fine.
Wolf Pit!, i love what your doing. Coming from someone who was homeless and in the streets to a busser who climbed up to a bartender/ bar manage, i love that you are doing this for people because i know what would happen if the economy made my career nothing and im sadly prepared mentally when i know some people who are scared of what would happen due to them wrapping there career around restaurants/ bars..
The fact you've made the effort to help people who need it is a great thing. Especially in today's economy. Even if money is super tight, ramen only keeps someone going for so long.
This is actually something my mom and I used all the time when we were on food stamps or when we were budgeting. Super filling and super cheap, and depending if you can get that GOOD sauce, very very tasty. Another meal thats filling but super good is mashed potatoes, gravy, ground beef (as much as you want) and white bread.
I just wanted to tell you how much your videos mean to my family and I. I truly appreciate all the hard work you put in and you have definitely made our life better during a hard time we are facing. Thank you again 💕
We didn't have alot (money, food, clothes, etc.) when I was a kid & a Dollar Tree would have come in handy. My Mom & Gramma still kept us in a roof & food, though. Keep up the good work.
Cheese that doesn't melt has a low concentration of fat so it doesn't melt but burn. Processed cheat has almost no fat. Hence the no melt but was creamy. Higher fat content = melt. Food science.
Haha it’s hardly cheese at this point... Probably close to 50% emulsifiers/preservatives like sodium phosphate, potassium phosphate, and tartrate. It’s best not to think about these things.
If it weren’t for that unmelted cheese, that would look delicious. I might have to pay an extra dollar or so to get cheese that actually melted, or just go cheese-less.
Agreed, it doesn't look bad but yeah, I would want the better quality cheese that actually melts. BTW I have been studying Japanese for a year and a half and can read the characters. しゅがーはあと is "Shuga - Haato" or "Sugar Heart" am I correct? If so, in Katakana it would be シウガーハアト, which considering those are foreign words, might be the best way to place the characters.

Ive been on both sides of the coin. i remimber times where mcdonalds was a luxury meal and stuff like beans and lentals in water with salt was the best we could afford or as i remimber it the year of the hotdog and the bologna. IF we were lucky we got cheese too. Sometimes bread. I have also been lucky enough to make so much money that i could eat out twice a day and bearly dent my budget and have a few times. Anytime i start to scoff at "poor people food" i remimber those lean meals and my parents stress to provide that and stfu knowing it wouldnt take much to drive me back to that. All it takes is one bad enough turn to leave you eyeing ramen as a luxury item and rat roast or other dont ask meals to sound appealing.
When I was an alcoholic me and my roommate lived off of Gwaltney Bologna sandwiches and we would take dozens of packets of mayo and mustard from 7-11 so it wouldn't be a dry sandwich. 99¢ loaf of white bread 99¢ loaf of Bologna and free condiments. $2 would last 2-3 days and we would spend hundreds on alcohol every week. Somehow I have extremely fond memories of this time. I eat a Gwaltney Bologna sandwich from time to time and it takes me right back and I get really thirsty lol. Haven't had a drop of alcohol since 2015.
@@richardwalker6004 here's the cherry on top. This sounds insane looking back on it but one day during our Bologna alcoholic phase there was a ups package at the door. We couldn't make out the address on the package but it certainly wasn't for us. This thing was heavy too like 4-5 pounds. I know this was wrong to do but at the time we lived like heathens so we decided to open it up. It was like the universe was talking to us because what we found insife that box was a gourmet loaf of sweet Bologna from Lebanon PA. I'm talking about a giant loaf uncut you would see in the deli window. I look back now and just can't wrap my head around that. Here we were living off of Bologna sandwiches for breakfast lunch dinner and 4th meal and we were using the cheapest Bologna available and the sandwich gods bestowed upon us a $80 loaf of Lebanon Bologna. Wow man we went to town on that thing. We laughed and laughed at the irony but looking back it's seems like a glitch in the matrix or maybe even a angel looking out for us. I still can't believe it and if you ever have the chance to get Lebanon Bologna do it. It's fucking crazy delicious. God bless.
As a kid I was a brat and my mum and dad had to make do with own brand things, a toddler does not appreciate own brand 😂 however as I grew up and went off to uni (true to the stereotype) it became glaringly obvious how hard it was to survive on a very limited budget and promptly thanked my parents for helping me learn the value of food
Dear Mr.WolfePit: Thank you for posting your videos. Your effort to educate people on how to get by in these tough times is very Noble. Most of us haven't ever had to go hungry, but I have. I've always had to be creative with a budget of $150 a month for groceries. New ideas are always greatly appreciated. Thank you, and stay safe.
twocvbloke in all fairness bacon fat when heated enough turns into a plastic coating. Its what seasons cast iron. Any oil becomes like that. The reason the cheese product probably doesnt melt is it doesnt have enough fat. It will burn instead
Yeah this has been explained several ways and times. Natural cheese melts while process cheese more like burns because of the higher fat content in natural cheese. That is all.
You have an adorable personality. I lost a lot of hours on my last job and I had to go to the food bank. Now I have a good job but, I still live cheaply. I am starting a savings. These videos will help me build my bank account by shopping less. Thank you. Peace be with you.
Literally nothing is wrong with cheese that doesn’t melt, one ingredient (water) is prioritized more than milk. Those are sandwich slices anyway so not meant to be put in actual dishes, hence why it isn’t supposed to melt.
When I moved out for grad school, I was put on to dollar tree. I struggled to eat and was scared I would not have food. But that place helped me out soo much. I think this content is a great idea so we can all learn together how to cook something while struggling.
To all the people who complain about the serving size.. they can add a couple baked potatoes, buttered noodles, beans.. as a side. A box of noodles or bag of beans would only add $1.25 (now)
These videos are incredible. I’ve been in a place where buying food was tough and these ideas and meals are amazing. Keep doing what you’re doing you are helping so many out. When you’re in the middle of a rough time you sometimes can’t even think clearly you’re so worried so figuring out how to feed yourself or even a whole family with little money can seem Impossible so having videos like this can be life savers.
Man your 5$ breakfast could easily feed a family of 6. I'm a big boy that likes to eat, and even split into 8ths those are some big slices. People are dumb and will find anything to complain about.
@Chris M Come on, Chris. As a fellow big boy who likes to eat, I can't believe you would be satisfied with anything less than 25% of that skillet if it by itself were the entire meal. As for me, I would probably eat at least half of it and be sorry later that I did.
Spend another dollar and get a bag of flour tortillas and turn those slices into tacos would definitely be more filling or a small loaf of bread for toast
I love these videos! thanks Larry. I don't pay att. to portion size in the videos.I only listen to the recipes cuz I already know I might have to double or triple most recipes.I have a big family. So people should not make rude comments about what's said about portions.just change it to fit your family.I just want the recipe part.and I can tweak it and add other stuff to make it my own.😇🍝
Great video. Great suggestions. This should give some people ideas about how to cook on next to nothing. For those Big eaters , you dont have to be full just enough to stop the hunger pains and stay alive.
On a real note thank you for doing this. I could've used something like this in the past and I know how helpful it can be to others. You're definitely a good person!! 😁

$20 a week for 3 ppl? Your amazing. Stay strong

These budget meals you do have really helped me get through my early adult life when I first moved out on my own
some people are so self centered...its not a matter of having to feed 8, its a matter of being able to. its a way to make a meal on a budget that all people need to understand

I always cook for 9 so i have left overs for work. I ate spaghetti once for an entire week and only cried twice
The fritata was enough to feed 8 people eating the correct portion size.
I think 6 would be more ideal, but yea it could feed 8 people. Some one said had some soft taco shells to really stretch it.

"forced to work for minimum wage" that is a sad statement. minimum wage used to be the minimum amount you could reasonably live off of. now a days its more about the bare minimum that they can get away with paying you.
Minimum wage barely pays for the gas to get you to the job.

Never trust cheese that doesn't melt.
Yeah that shit scared me
Wtf..... How is that possible
Its literally all because of the fat content... that's it
Cheese that doesn't melt has a low concentration of fat so it doesn't melt but burn.

@@richardgray8593 hey, im not saying i wouldnt get seconds lol
Agreed, that's easily 6 people's worth for breakfast.
Spend another dollar and get a bag of flour tortillas and turn those slices into tacos would definitely be more filling or a small loaf of bread for toast
This is honestly very good you do this, it can help a lot of less fortunate people feed their families. Thank you for doing this.
I loved the lecture you gave in the beginning of the video. Some people take alot for granted and I'm glad you spoke on that. Love ya wolfepit! 😍
“It’s even difficult to cut” I’m dead 😂😂
🤣🤣🤣
This was too much 😆😆😆😆
I love these videos! thanks Larry.
