Do you know how much strength and stamina a man would need to hack through flesh armor and Bone all day long? Eventually killing up to 1,000 men? That is super human strength and stamina.
Relisten to your story again. Sorry if my comment is not that great! I left for you 2 days ago as well, I was later because I'm not so well those days. Sorry Ollie, but I'll be listen to you, later or not. Thank you
The loyalty and friendship of Benkei and Yoshitsune is the true legend of this story.. A man perceived to be so monstrous even the ones who were supposed to love him feared him, and after it finally got to him it took the one who could actually beat him to turn his heart around. In the end the love they had was so strong he protected his friend and their honor to the bitter end, going out the way he lived life. Monstrous.
Yoshitsune literally sounds like the greatest most legendary samurai ever. He died at 30 meaning he was just 21 when the Genpei war started. The samurai would not have dominated Japan without victories Yoshitsune achieved. It's a shame he was betrayed in the end but I can see how Yorimoto would have felt threatened by such a young valiant warrior. I would love to see a good movie/show depiction of this story.
YESSS we’re getting back to the Samurai history I love these vid aswell as the Vikings history. You should look into the history of Honda Tadakatsu he’s a lesser known but still legendary Samurai Warrior.
He is one of my faves too. I have his replica armour and my next project i may try and forge his tonbo yari (well what I would think it would look like anyhow).
Sorry I'm later, but always excited to listen those great histories on your channel. Thank you for your hard and awesome work on them. Background sound is just amazing!
I'll be real that I was interesting on knowing more of him due anime and Fate but his story was amazing even to this day Yoshitsune is well known and so is Benkei didn't knew there was a reference of Yoshitsune in Yuyu Hakusho (Shishiwakamaru). It's sad how at least for me it looks like a betrayal from his brother Yoritomo.
While heartbreaking that his own brother ordered his death it's worth remembering that they hadn't even met before the start of the Genpei war. They had no familial bond as we might consider it and Yoshitsune was dangerously successful. A rival is one thing but a rival who can split your own clan into civil war is doubly dangerous.

One of the biggest reasons for the legend of genghis khand is a lot of the strategies he used was thought to be out of the book of 6. So there is some credibility to that legend
The version I have of the Heike monogatari is much more kind in it depiction of Yoshinaka Kiso. He was one of my favorites in the storyline. I think he got a raw deal. He was the one who was a great general and was really taking it to the Taira at the start of the Genpei Wars. I am definitely not a fan of Yoritomo. I have read that he vigorously avoided a challenge at the battle of Dan No Ura. Sidenote: the movie Kwaidan has the story of Hoichi the Earless who met the spits of the Taira clan.
Nah Yoshitsune was Samurai to the core! There is no way he’d escape. Japan in that time and even up to the 1970’s (I think was recorded Seppuku/Harikiri) that need to regain honour by suicide was rampant. And Minamoto No Yoshitsune was no exception. But he wouldn’t of done with out witnesses. Most Seppuku/ Harakiri was done with witnesses, in order to take the head back. I believe and no doubt know that in his last moments he (Yoshitsune) would said something like “let me regain my honour, but take this note to my brother ”, at that point he would passed the note and did the ritual. And those witnesses would of chopped off his head and took it Yoritomo. But as the man died his legend began. And of Minamoto Clan. The comfort in the story is his name is remembered and celebrated more than Yoritomo
Saying he became Genghis khan is wild. There is history of Genghis khans childhood so it wouldn’t make sense. He could have escaped though that’s what I believe I don’t think killed his family and himself..
Yoritomo Pressured by Hojo ClAn.. without Hojo his nothing.. Hojo ClAn had they're own Ambition..they just used Yoritomo... Yoshitsune Minamoto is one of the Greatest Samurai Warrior ever..maybe the Greatest..but his short life hold that..
Hi 😊 i very much like your utube stuff! I hope Yoshi & his little family got away. Very sad how people with power easily imagine that someone else is always plotting to usurp them 🤯😞
I would like think they had a somewhat happy ending by evading death but that is just hopeful romanticism. The code of the samurai back then wouldn't allow it. They probably did die just like that sadly. Seppuku after a failed anything was the norm usually. Would make a great anime. Start with Benkei hunting the samurai down...

Benkei was black . Looks like a demon? To pale Japanese, a dark-skinned child would look like a demon. He was bigger than the others of his age, his wild hair ? No one knows his family ? Funny look at the depiction of benkei he's black

Priest First Demon is drawn in an image shown during the video, and I'd just like to give that image a big thumbs up!

there's the manga of it i believe
Benkei was indeed a true friend
Also pulled a general grievous by adding swords to his collection
The idea of Yoshitsune became Genghis Khan is quite cool.
I love the samurai

My favorite history Japan & Iceland, but I love it all. I would like to learn as much as I can each day of my life. I am begging to get forgetful.

This story is so dope
Pretty sure that Samurai Champloo's two main protagonists Mugen and Jin, are loosely bases on these two warriors. I can see a lot of similarities.
Great video!! It was super interesting!! Thank you🙏✌️
Really enjoyed this one, 12th Century Japan must have been a fascinating place, I will check out Blinkist sounds really interesting
This is why ni amo to no yoshitsune is my fave commander in *rise of kingdoms*
Benkeis last words were “THE ONE PEIIICCEEE!!! THE ONE PEICE IS REALL!!!”
More of these epic tales please.
Thank you so much ! I hope you enjoyed the video !
Yoshitsune was done running. With the most honorable self sacrifice by Benkei he also knew that escape was not likely.
Nothing is more dangerous than a stupidity of powerful man.

The little emperor actually committed suicide with taira Mother, by drowning. They also took the royal treasures with them under water
😊👍 Awesomeness
You could have mentionned who made the drawing of the miniature and everywhere in the video at least

Khan had reddish hair and green eyes this is well documented do you know japanese dudes with green eyes 😆

They actually do !

It said that Yoshitsune ship jumping feat during Battle of Dan No Ura, inspired a Sumo technique

Thank you so much! Anita! I know it is very said indeed, they see enemies everywhere
The men who tread on the tigers tail
yes!
I don’t think he fled Japan popped up in Mongolia to become the Great Khan himself
Well there is theory he escape and went to Hokkaido or Conquer half of the world
Jealously killed them all.
Anyone else hearing Gilgamesh & Enkidu echoes in this story?
same with rorounin kenshin storyline with sanosuke sagara.
i still believe he became genghis khan
I came here from a doraemon episode 😅
Duh! Why didn’t he play for a Japanese basketball league
