Since 2019 we have been the leader in large format silicone molds for makers, woodworkers and resin artists. Through 2021 we have had customers asking us to make matching templates for our more awkwardly shaped molds, to help them shape wood to fit snuggly into the mold.
Well, that day has arrived and new for January 2022 is our line of precision crafted, acrylic router templates! This growing line of tracing and router templates contains full charcuterie board and serving board templates, handle templates, wine caddy templates and more.
Using them is easy as this video demonstrates:
1. Simply trace your shape onto your wood. Rough cut the wood (leaving 1/16-1/4" of material around the perimeter of the shape).
2.Affix the template to your rough cut wood using two sided tape or hot glue.
3.Using your router table and sufficiently sized flush trim bit, glide the bearing of the router bit along the template edge, while the blade portion of the bit removes all the excess wood material, effectively duplicating the router template shape onto your piece of wood.

Free-handing on a table saw????? I'm not that brave, but I really do like your molds and templates. Is it possible for me to pour a thin seal coat over wood, to prevent bubbles rising up out of the wood, after that completely dries, apply a vinyl sticker (or decal) and then the flood coat, sealing the sticker under the epoxy???
Yes, you can pre-seal the wood to prevent bubbles rising, and you can also embed stickers or other objects like stickers, in resin.
PaganWizard, you are not "brave" for free-handing on a table saw. Rather, as some RUclipsrs who demonstrate kickbacks under similar working conditions, you would be "stupid."
Do you need a mechanical bond like wood dowels where the epoxy and the wood meet? I am wondering if it will break at the seam.
Have an acrylic template that I want to modify slightly, is it ok to use a flush bit on the router table to cut the acrylic?

I’m never one to be a safety patrolman but as an ER Doctor, woodworker, and woodworking business owner this video needs to be remade. The liability you’re taking on of showing people how to free push material into a table saw is mind boggling. None the less without any kind of push stick. I hope your viewers will know better. It’s a sure way to come and see me at my day job. These templates are wonderful but they should be used alongside a jigsaw or bandsaw. I understand many don’t have a bandsaw but a jigsaw is affordable and accessible. The table saw should never be used as portrayed.

I have posted a lengthy reply to an earlier comment, but have been a woodworker (Industrial Arts teacher and now a hobbyist for 50+ years) and have witnessed kickbacks, firsthand. In a word, it can be UGLY!
PLEASE, Crafted Elements, remake this video, repost it, and include a liability disclaimer to protect yourself. Currently, you are wide open for litigation if somebody tries what you show and they get injured by following your instruction!

If you want to free hand cut like that, you should be using a bandsaw.

Agree 100%. It's hard to look past the immensely dangerous techniques used in this video to find much of any merit to the remainder of content in this video. Several of us who viewed this video have begged the author to remake this video and repost it. So far, nothing yet has shown up.
I just quit a job I just started bc they were a bunch of inexperienced hobbiests making cutting boards running them through with out a cross cutting sled, doing everything ass backwards. All their boards had gaps in them and I was like- dude I didn’t go to the best woodworking school in the nation to make crappy boards. I can literally make better quality boards. Also only half of those templates are actually useable bc they don’t allow enough meat to be left in the handle and some short grained areas will be more prone to damage bc there won’t be enough long grain to support the actual handle. If it falls on the floor the handle’s definitely won’t survive the impact bc of those weak points.

Hi Kyro. Its definitely much easier with a router table, but yes, you could use a compact trim router and flush trim plunge bit to get a similar result.

So I tried this on a multiple glue board ND it shattered the wood is this normal
Tried to router it with a template? What do you mean by shattered? Came unglued? If it came unglued it wasnt glued together well to begin with im afraid!

Oh man, brilliant work, really terrific products. But honestly, free-handing pieces on a table saw is not a good idea, even for experienced pro's such as yourself. It's easy and fast until something happens and you get a kick-back, drawing your hand into the blade or launching a piece at you.
It's a true roll of the dice and eventually, snake-eyes are going to prevail with a trip the ER.

Nice templates... but cutting free hand on a table saw is just asking for a terrible kickback, particularly for newer woodworkers, it would be much better/safer to use a bandsaw. 20-year adult woodworking teacher,

Don't do your "rough cutting" on a table saw. So many things to go wrong. Just use a band saw
Like many said before, this is a really nicely made video, great content, you have a great narration voice, and I'd love to see more videos from you. But you can't show people how to freehand into the table saw like that... That tool is extremely dangerous and the majority of people are SO stupid. Please remake this wonderful video, just with a more precaution and proper use of tools. Thanks for the tips and the templates are awesome looking!

Clay, I so appreciate your making this comment. I had placed a similar suggestion/rebuke/reminder on an earlier video in which this same gentleman was using a table saw without either the fence or a miter gauge (or any similar attachment). Since, during my schooling and 30-year teaching (Industrial Arts) career, I have been near somebody who tried such a bonehead move and witnessed a kickback, it is almost impossible for me to see something like what is presented in this video without speaking up. I do wonder something, though...
I did not see a disclaimer on this video; therefore, what is the legal liability situation if somebody tries what this presenter shows and gets hurt (whether it's minor or major)? Does the injured person have any legal recourse? It seems that this can be construed as an instructional ("do it like I show you") video and some element of legal responsibility rides along with this. During my doctoral studies at the University of Alabama law school, I recall having a discussion along the lines of this topic and -- if I were the author of this video, I would perform a remake just ASAP and remove this existing video "before three cats can skin a minnow."
I realize I am in the gross minority; however, seeing this very unsafe practice demonstrated after an earlier video in which sawing freehand on a table saw was admonished, I shall choose to avoid purchasing from or recommending this company. I just cannot support this apparent repeated rejection of safety commendation.
Now, for those who have read this far and need some validation that what I (30 years as a "shop" teacher and now a hobbyist woodworker in my retirement) have told you, here are some excellent RUclips videos I recommend. Who knows? Maybe this information will save you an injury--or even your life!

These two videos (and there are PLENTY more on RUclips) should be enough to convince anybody smart NOT to use the method demonstrated by the nice gentleman from Crafted Elements.
Mind you, I am NOT trying to be a finger-shaking "goody two shoes" or even ugly to the gent or company in this video. Rather, I am just severely concerned that some of my woodworking friends might actually try this and, if something unfortunate occurred, will no longer have to worry about trimming their lost fingernails. I've seen it happen...and kickbacks can totally change a person's life! PLEASE, Crafted Elements, fix this! Invest some of your time and help make it safer for people to use your templates!!

The only problem is, everyone's boards look the same. 🤷 I'd prefer to make my own template so it's more original instead of looking like everyone else's. Good idea because there's plenty of people that will buy these.

Cool templates! But you are using your table saw like it was a bandsaw! Very dangerous to freehand feed the wood into that blade!
Agreed. Just using what we had here. We do have a bandsaw thats been on order for a couple of months, and I was too lazy to get out the jigsaw.
Lee Reep, I'm just wondering....how many times do we have to stress the importance of proper table saw safety? It seems almost unconscionable that the author of this video would leave it posted on RUclips....if for no other reason than he has repeatedly left himself wide open to legal liability if any viewers try what he demonstrates and they become injured--or even killed. Kickbacks are SERIOUS business! Let's watch to see how long it takes for this video to be taken down and a new one (showing proper table saw safety) is posted. Until then, let's hold off on purchasing from a company that doesn't take safety of their customers any more seriously than it seems they are, currently.

Thanks for the input. There isn't much room to reduce the price on these. Acrylic is expensive, labor is expensive, shipping is as well. However, if you buy a $30 template and use it for 6 boards, that's only $5 a board. easily recoverable.
Just a little incentive to remake the video. Firstly, the table saw freehand is way out. Also, there is no such word that I know of as “precisionly”. Try PRECISELY as a substitute.👍
Viewers, PLEASE!! If you watch this video, DO NOT use the techniques shown when he uses the table saw very incorrectly. If you do, you stand the real possibility of becoming seriously injured--or even killed!
Larry is right, it was a bad decision and a worse one to film doing it. Sometimes the lazy road isn't the best option.

Free hand cutting with on a table saw? Very dangerous. Shouldn’t be showing that being done on a promo video. Bad example!! I’m pretty sure every table saw owner’s manual tells you not to do free hand cuts. We don’t allow that in our woodworking club’s shop.
I agree. Unfortunately its an established video that drives a fair bit of sales to our templates, so It cant be deleted, nor can I edit it once its on RUclips.
It is fantasticly irresponsible and stupid to show potentially unaware people to free hand use a table saw! Some people will get injured by your fault!! You must remove this video NOW!!!
PLEASE DELETE THIS VIDEO!! I watched this originally because of the great looking templates and really want to order some of them, now I may be repeating what is below, I did not take the time to read them, PLEASE folks, never free hand your work on the table saw shown at time marker 4:18. They measured kickback of a board and it kicks back at over 80 MPH. I know, I did this very same thing cutting a board in this fashion 15 years ago and it caught me across the abdomen, I was loaded into an ambulance where a trauma surgical team was standing by. Use a band saw, scroll saw, but Never a table saw. Like I said, Im sorry if this was a repeat danger notice. This part of the video shpu;ld be deleted in case others do not read the comments, newbies would not know how dangerous this is. Tom
I had a kickback during woodworking school of an 18” square board. It hit me in the groin before I even knew that happened. I couldn’t stand for 3 hours and had a hematoma in my groin for 6 months but nothing else. I was SOOO lucky. Do not freehand on a table saw. (That’s not what I did)
