My dad had a surgery on his appendix and miraculously survived But then he left my mum and siblings to fend for ourselves, we barely ate even 2 square meals each day, things were so difficult for mum because she lost her job That was when I gave my life to Christ and a year later my dad returned
Ha! I recognized church of Christ roots by the time they hit the second stanza. LOVE THIS OLD CLASSIC. Prayer is not a list to Santa Claus. It's not about eloquence in front of the congregation. It's pouring out your woes and weaknesses and struggles and then waiting for His comfort,wisdom, and strength. It's a two way exchange. It's getting close to our Btother,who sympathizes with our struggles and weaknesses. Message never gets old, never irrelevant.
My Grandma passed on December 29 2023. I've been doing well with my grieving process. Today I listened to The Old Rugged Cross and the tears started to flow.
I'm from India. My mom passed away a month ago and we sang this in our local Language (Marathi) as this is a hymn in the Wesleyen tradition and I'm so proud we are all United in the blood of Christ. My mom was taken with her Christ so peacefully, that none of us knew when it all happened , he waited for her to get well and enjoy her best times and took her with him from all sorrows that she once had. Thank you, Jesus. My mom was a blessing for me all a gift from him. She is happy with him now ! What a blessed passing away from the mortal world to the eternal life. Amen ! I remember we would go to the church and sing it , I still hum it, it gave me goosebumps ! My mom would always say "He shall never forbade me for I am his daughter!" This beautiful hymn with the family singing together reminded me of my childhood with my righteous and God fearing mother who is happy with God now. Thank you for the wonderful rendition of it. However, it is unfortunate that auto-tuning was applied to the recording (and quite substantially, I'm afraid). i am sure that we would be able to appreciate your wonderful singing "unplugged" - Could you be able to record us some video of your harmonies without any electronic embellishments? @@k.hunmok1940 I could be wrong, but I don't think it's auto-tuned. However, the video has been recorded separately from the audio. To get clear audio you generally need large microphones very close to the singers with substantial acoustic dampening, and this would kinda ruin the video. It also sounds like there's some reverb, which adds some "richness" to the sound but also doesn't match the acoustic environment of a cozy living room. So it's not a straight one-take recording from the living room, but I don't think they're cheating. :-)

It is a beautiful song indeed. Sorry to hear of your losses, but the hope of every faithful child of God, is that death has no power over them. When we die, the Bible says, "Then the dust will return to the earth as it was, and the spirit will return to God who gave it” (Ecclesiastes 12:7). We are not conscious or aware during death. Psalms 146:4 says "His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish." We cannot think or communicate when we have died because "The body without the spirit is dead” (James 2:26). Just as Adam became a LIVING soul AFTER God breathed the breath of life into him, we can only be ALIVE when the breath of life is in us. When this breath or the spirit of life returns to God, we are no longer living, and are mere dust or a corpse. The spirit that returns to God is not the person without the body, it is simply the life giving power of God. Nowhere in all of God’s book does the “spirit” have any life, wisdom, or feeling after a person dies. It is the “breath of life” and nothing more. So when people die, they cannot be in heaven with the Lord looking down on us. Their thoughts perish. The soul of a person according to Genesis 2:7 is THE BODY/DUST +THE BREATH OF LIFE = LIVING SOUL. "The Lord God formed man of THE DUST OF THE GROUND, and breathed into his nostrils the Breath Of Life; and man BECAME A LIVING SOUL” Notice the Bible did not describe the breath of life as being the person without their body. WE CAN ONLY EXIST WHEN THE BREATH OF LIFE IS IN OUR BODIES. This is why Solomon said, "The living know that they will die; but the dead know nothing, and they have no more reward, for the memory of them is forgotten. Also their love, their hatred, and their envy have now perished; nevermore will they have a share in anything done under the sun. … There is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going” (Ecclesiastes 9:5, 6, 10). The righteous saints of God do not go to heaven immediately after they die. David was righteous yet Acts says "“David … is both dead and buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. … For David did not ascend into the heavens” (Acts 2:29, 34). Those who die in Christ will partake of the first resurrection. "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first. Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord." 1Thessalonians 4:16&17. The unrighteous dead will not be resurrected until the second resurrection, the resurrection of damnation. "Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation." John 5:28&29

I think I posted a couple years ago but it's worth repeating... I got tricked into watching a demonic seance. It was in another language. I have experience the dark side previously because my upbringing. However I had protection. After I accidentally watched the seance my protection was gone I was attacked on a level few could possibly understand. Somehow through divine intervention this song came into my life. The room that I was attacked in was cold and dark. You could feel the darkness. Nothing would break it even prayer. My whole family prayed. I downloaded this song on Spotify and left it playing in the room night and day for months. The song would often get turned off without intervention. The song would even come across in some kind of weird electronic tone. After months of playing this song in the room darkness had lifted you could feel there was light after a couple months the song never went off and never got degraded and the light shine bright. God bless you brothers and sisters this harmony saved me in my family. This song is darkness busting POWER. GOD BLESS YOU SO MUCH! I LOVE YOU GUYS!
My mom passed away in April in China due to liver cancer, I could not go back to give her a hug. And I have been isolated till now, feel devastated. However I refused To be discouraged. Maybe because of the anxiety I developed dry mouth And Now dry eyes .( doc can not tell if it’s SS)As a teacher I have to work on computer all day long to deliver remote lessons now it’s even harder with the dry eyes! I pray Constantly and try To focus on our God instead of focusing on the Pain.And these songs really bring me comfort thank you so much praise the Lord !please say a prayer for me thank you.

I dont think I have every really taken in all the words and meaning of this song before. I do not have many fellow human friends that have really been able to live up to my needs or expectations. It has taken this long to realise that humans cannot fill this need and be there for me whenever I need them. It is not even fair to ask. But with Jesus and God, it is different. They are there whenever I need them instantly. I should never have expected so much out of other humans, we are just not able to be perfect, that is why I think we are hear to learn about love and compassion. We are still learning but I can be given the help I need instantly and that is what this song is about. Thank you .

It is a beautiful song indeed. Sorry to hear of your losses, but the hope of every faithful child of God, is that death has no power over them. When we die, the Bible says, "Then the dust will return to the earth as it was, and the spirit will return to God who gave it” (Ecclesiastes 12:7). We are not conscious or aware during death. Psalms 146:4 says "His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish." We cannot think or communicate when we have died because "The body without the spirit is dead” (James 2:26). Just as Adam became a LIVING soul AFTER God breathed the breath of life into him, we can only be ALIVE when the breath of life is in us. When this breath or the spirit of life returns to God, we are no longer living, and are mere dust or a corpse. The spirit that returns to God is not the person without the body, it is simply the life giving power of God. Nowhere in all of God’s book does the “spirit” have any life, wisdom, or feeling after a person dies. It is the “breath of life” and nothing more. So when people die, they cannot be in heaven with the Lord looking down on us. Their thoughts perish.
The soul of a person according to Genesis 2:7 is THE BODY/DUST +THE BREATH OF LIFE = LIVING SOUL. "The Lord God formed man of THE DUST OF THE GROUND, and breathed into his nostrils the Breath Of Life; and man BECAME A LIVING SOUL” Notice the Bible did not describe the breath of life as being the person without their body. WE CAN ONLY EXIST WHEN THE BREATH OF LIFE IS IN OUR BODIES. This is why Solomon said, "The living know that they will die; but the dead know nothing, and they have no more reward, for the memory of them is forgotten. Also their love, their hatred, and their envy have now perished; nevermore will they have a share in anything done under the sun. … There is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going” (Ecclesiastes 9:5, 6, 10).
The righteous saints of God do not go to heaven immediately after they die. David was righteous yet Acts says "“David … is both dead and buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. … For David did not ascend into the heavens” (Acts 2:29, 34).
Those who die in Christ will partake of the first resurrection. "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first. Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord." 1Thessalonians 4:16&17.
The unrighteous dead will not be resurrected until the second resurrection, the resurrection of damnation. "Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation." John 5:28&29

I think I posted a couple years ago but it's worth repeating... I got tricked into watching a demonic seance. It was in another language. I have experience the dark side previously because my upbringing. However I had protection. After I accidentally watched the seance my protection was gone I was attacked on a level few could possibly understand. Somehow through divine intervention this song came into my life. The room that I was attacked in was cold and dark. You could feel the darkness. Nothing would break it even prayer. My whole family prayed. I downloaded this song on Spotify and left it playing in the room night and day for months. The song would often get turned off without intervention. The song would even come across in some kind of weird electronic tone. After months of playing this song in the room darkness had lifted you could feel there was light after a couple months the song never went off and never got degraded and the light shine bright. God bless you brothers and sisters this harmony saved me in my family. This song is darkness busting POWER. GOD BLESS YOU SO MUCH! I LOVE YOU GUYS!

My mom passed away in April in China due to liver cancer, I could not go back to give her a hug. And I have been isolated till now, feel devastated. However I refused To be discouraged. Maybe because of the anxiety I developed dry mouth And Now dry eyes .( doc can not tell if it’s SS)As a teacher I have to work on computer all day long to deliver remote lessons now it’s even harder with the dry eyes! I pray Constantly and try To focus on our God instead of focusing on the Pain.And these songs really bring me comfort thank you so much praise the Lord !please say a prayer for me thank you.

I dont think I have every really taken in all the words and meaning of this song before. I do not have many fellow human friends that have really been able to live up to my needs or expectations. It has taken this long to realise that humans cannot fill this need and be there for me whenever I need them. It is not even fair to ask. But with Jesus and God, it is different. They are there whenever I need them instantly. I should never have expected so much out of other humans, we are just not able to be perfect, that is why I think we are hear to learn about love and compassion. We are still learning but I can be given the help I need instantly and that is what this song is about. Thank you .
