  • It’s that time of year again where you can go mountain biking every day. If you’re like me, you might bring an action camera along to document your ride. Whether you have a GoPro, a knockoff, or something else altogether, these 10 hacks will help you make the most of your action camera. let’s get started!
    These 10 hacks videos take weeks to prepare!

    The video editor I used to demonstrate the clap technique was iMovie. Most other video editors have a timeline and B-roll, with visible waveforms.
    I use Final cut pro, which does the same thing automatically by analyzing the waveform programmatically.

    For all of you asking what video editor I use, it's Final Cut Pro. It has tons of bugs that Apple never fixes, and it crashes constantly. For those reasons I can't recommend it, however I haven't found anything that's faster for editing RUclips videos. Truth be told, you can just use GoPro's software for most video editing tasks. It's free and works on any operating system.

    • @TrailFeatures

      Final Cut used to be a beast, but the adobe creative cloud is a damn good option for Mac and PC. it's pretty dang cheap, and even cheaper with EDU discount.

    • @TrailFeatures
      @TrailFeatures 7 лет назад +3

      KiGrind 7 You're totally right that if you're just starting out, or don't get too complicated with edits, there are some really good free options out there. If you need something more than that, then the Adobe software may be a good option. You can pay $300 up front for Final Cut Pro, or pay $20/mo (240/yr) for Adobe Premiere. If you're a student with an EDU email you can get the full suite for $20/mo, that's a crazy good deal! The best part is if after a couple months you hate it and want to move to another app you're only out a small amount, vs buying a full license and being stuck with that.
      Once again, not saying someone just starting out should get it, but when you hit that point where you need something with really beefy features then Adobe has some pretty good options.

      I have been using Filmora to edit my vacation videos. I can't say it is the fastest thing in the world but it works great. It is also a one time payment for a lifetime license.

    • @connors3356
      @connors3356 7 лет назад +1

      Just to add onto this discussion, I am a film student and use Premiere Pro with a student subscription so it isn't so expensive. I've used Davinci and FCPX and found that they are not as ergonomic and flexible as premiere is.

    Handy tips! Didn't think to film in 4:3. Here's another: Use carbon grip paste on the adjustable joints for your mounts to make them extra rigid. Then use the screwdriver to really clamp it down.

    if you want a wide angle without that 'bulge' in the middle of the video, try using a mode called 'distortion-correction'. it's available on my SJCAM SJ6 legend. i highly recommend this for you Seth. feel free to include this one in a video.. thanks.

    Cool as always! I’m using a Hero 3 White on the seat post and on the handlebar but I like your lower and higher point of view!

    with a gopro thumb screw the housing around the Philips head screw is also an allen key thing so u can use one of those instead of a screwdriver to tighten it

    As addon to tip 11: you can replace the handbolt with a normal bolt. This way you have one less thing sticking out where something can catch behind. And it is even a little bit more theft proof, well they can just open your case and steel the camera they still have the case ;-)

    I think the mounting screw bottoms out, so even a screwdriver won’t tighten it enough. I use a washer from a v brake pad on the screw. The washer takes extra space and lets it tighten easily by hand.

    Hey Seth I have always used some toenail clippers to cut off the ends of zip-ties I have found that it works much better and is less potentially dangerous than using a knife

    To poke a hole in fabric. Use a soldering iron. Makes a nice clean hole. To remove those sticky pads. Use fishing line or dental floss in a sawing motion between the sticky pad and surface.

    Instead of the last one, using a screwdriver to tighten the little tightening knob. You seperate the two parts and then get sand paper and rough up the thin smooth plastic bits that slide together, it creates more grip and stops the mount from moving

    Another tip for no.10. If you cant get it tight enough, get some sand paper and rough up the inside of the mount. The extra friction on the rough surface will give a stronger grip when you tighten it.
