I just got out of the military and besides having weekends or most of them when I was in, everything seems pretty much the same . Being a black guy becoming a officer I was actually surprised my family encouraged it even my brothers in prison encouraged me.
It's basically tradition in my family for people to go to prison for some type of felony and when I started to pursue a career in LE I was surprised that everyone was quite supportive of it. They understand what they're doing is wrong and that the police are just doing their job.
I'm not law enforcement but my father has worked in corrections for almost 20 yrs... and I can tell you that it pisses me off when ppl criticize law enforcement when they've never experienced anything like it, support you guys 💯
I got pulled over for the first time today. He didn't even ask for my registration, just my license, and he didn't even go back to his car. I told him the person the car is registered under has a gun permit and that there was no guns in the car but i did have a knife on my waist. He was happy that i let him know that. He asked for my license and insurance and i have it to him. He told me the reason he pulled me over was cause i took off from a stop sign like i was at a drag strip. Then he asked if i had a job and i said no and saw that i just got my license not even a year ago. Then he said i just need to slow down and that he's gonna let me off with a warning. He said he didn't want me to have to worry about a ticket and my insurance going up since I didn't have a job and cause I'm so young. It probably helped that i had no police record whatsoever. If you ever get pulled over, just hope you get an old cop. But when i saw those lights i about shit my fucking pants. He was such a nice cop.
crewboy23 How about just drive appropriately instead of somehow driving so erratically at a STOP SIGN that you warrant a traffic stop lmfao. You’re not supposed to do that at a stop bc what if someone else blows the stop sign then you’re hitting them at way higher speeds when normally it would just be a small collision. Btw I’m not a cop fuck piggies. How can you justify being a cop and doling out arrests for non violent drug crimes. Civil asset forfeiture and the taxpayer cost in general is just no bueno. And they’re like teachers it’s never enough. Anyone who doesn’t wanna cough up for the boys in blue is just an antifa. Just like anyone who doesn’t wanna cough up for higher teacher salary hates kids or something.
The cool part of car videos are that you can play the video, put your earphones in and do your stuff on the pc, something like podcast and it's so relaxing
Wellp been to the military and now working in private security. I can relate to most stuff you said. guess i've changed already. Greetings from Lithuania
Man this is great!!! Even on Sundays getting something new from a very good, fun and informative channel!! To tell you mam Im 20 minutes from Forsyth GA and i have a small restaurant. That i would like to invite to if u get a lunch brake or something!!! Have some other officers friends here in town and would love to have a table for all!!! Let me know! Good videos man!
Hey officer 401, if ya read this thank you for your videos... Ever since i got out medically retired out of the military ( injuries on duty) I knew i wanted to be a cop... been plowing through college for couple years trying to achieve the goal... Had its ups and down but your channel always kept me confident... Been watching since badge bunnies vid almost a year ago... Finally went through the hiring process (after doing processing for the last 6 or 7 months) Everything has been passed through just waiting for the police academy ... Just wanted to say thank you for helping me keep motivated..
A very informative video, 401. I spent 22 years as a State Police Trooper and retired a few years ago. The example he gave about everyone calling you out as a Police Officer at parties and get togethers is unfortunately true. People will announce your occupation to everyone who is there for some annoying reason, yet not share anyone else's job or career. Also having to work Christmas and other major holidays is often eased by the premium overtime pay plus a compensatory paid day off in the future. I always hated when people I barely knew or remembered from 5 or 10 years earlier, would drop my name to a local department Officer or a co-worker Trooper like we were best friends in order to avoid a ticket. If they didn't have my same last name, then feel free to write them up with my blessings was my response. Another source of irritation he forgot to mention is to be prepared to have your meals regularly interrupted in a restaurant, by John Q. Public feeling a need to ask a ridiculous set of questions that delays your entire meal...... "Excuse me Officer/Deputy/Trooper, I hate to interrupt you but........(insert pointless and rambling question). One last thing you will hear on a daily basis is Joe Citizen reminding you that he is a taxpayer and therefore pays your salary. My response to that comment was that law enforcement is not a tax exempt occupation and that we pay the same taxes that most every other citizen pays, often at a higher taxed rate based upon our income. Uncle Sam loves taking a chunk out of your overtime pay so remember that when you have 20 or 30 hours of OT on your upcoming paycheck.....lol.
Officer 401 really puts the humanity into the police department. They are just as we are, someones parent, child, and sibling. Respect and love all around you, we share this world and community together!
My girlfriends dad is a detective that works in child cases. Abuse, mistreatment, things like that. And since he took that job he's been really quiet and doesn't smile too often. I wasn't sure how to help, but you gave me a good idea Officer 401. Thank you.
Deputy F When my family lived in Alaska and husband managed a hotel, he said the problems escalated when it was Friday (and payday), moreso when Friday the 13th, but the worst was when it was Friday the 13th and a full moon because that was when murders happened. It was true, as local headlines would attest to.
Full moons, when you have a mentally disturbed lady slit her wrist and spin around like a demonic blood sprinkler spraying people with hepatitis a through z, her action seem reasonable when you look up and see that full moon smiling at your misfortune. Damn, I didn't get paid enough for that security job.....
I am 23 years old and i have been struggling with depression and stuff like this for the last 8 years or so, if not even longer. And i have always heard that I have a great personality and is really good and easy to talk with. And people always suggested to me to become a therapist. how ever I do know i am really good understanding people, reading body language and stuff like this, and while i do believe that i would fit as a therapist, i dont believe i am fit to sit between 4 walls and listen to all of these peoples problems even tho i dont mind it at all, and i have laid all my problems behind me and is living an extremely happy life at the moment. How ever i still struggle with finding out where i want lay my future. And i was stopped by police one night because i was out walking after closing time (Real suspect) we had a chat, and he told me what he did, and his partner was a real nice lad too. And it made me become interested in law enforcement because i would get to meet and help a lot of people wich is my interest felt and i would also get around town and stuff. I mean its a long road for me because i am a drop out, kinda failed hard in my early life due to struggles and issues, still clean papers tho! But i hope its not too late :)
Nice. My agency actually provides a great class for new Deputies and their family, intended to give some insight on this subject. I'm going to suggest they offer the same to the detention Deputies as well. I noticed many of the same changes in myself while I was LE2.
Good video! I heard some of the same things at our local PD's "Citizen's Academy." On the sense of humor issue, I have always said that the reason we laugh is so we don't cry. Being exposed to so much of the raw side of life as an officer, I think that whole laugh/cry thing is just amplified.
A few questions. Have you ever had to deal with a corrupt cop? Why do some cops lie in court? I'm not trying to be belligerent. I have had cops get up on the witness stand take the oath and lie on me just to make the case. I lost my job, house, and career because a state trooper lied about a non preventable accident. He even made up the charges against me at the scene. Btw I'm a big fan. We need more honest Officers. Thank you for your honesty and fresh perspective.
I am ashamed to admit at times I have been guilty of buying into the media brainwashing that all police are just thugs with badges out to get you and take your money. Thanks to you, I remember that the majority of them are good people who would like to make a positive impact on society. Be safe and thank you.
I retired last year after 25 years in law enforcement. I still pay attention to my surroundings, and point out suspicious activity and violators to my wife. It drives her crazy, but I can't help notice things.
Greetings From France, Officer 401 ! I want to become a police officer too but i'm sure it's a bit different from what you guys do in the US. :P BUT ! Criminals will have to be careful, or i'll beat them with my trusty baguette !
Talk about stolen firearms! My beautiful and totally moded out AR-15 was stollen and besides filing a report and leaving it up to the detective, I think I'm out $3k+ :'(
Officer401, I know this might be a sensitive topic to cover, but at any point could you do a video on some of the scariest moments you've faced in your LEO career? Like some instances after the events happen, you think to yourself, "holy shit this could have gone sour real quick." If not, I totally get it. I don't have law enforcement in the family but my gramps is a Vietnam vet and he's not really keen on sharing his stories as often as people would like to hear them. Nonetheless, I feel like stories like that bolster the respect for LEO's knowing just how dangerous the job can be.
I took a nap right after watching this video and I was in somewhat of a half sleep and awake state and played video clips in my mind of scenario you described in your video and amazingly FELT what it feels to be an officer.
Yep, that military part is true! I've noticed it with my family members who take your oath as well. It's absolutely necessary to have a coping mechanism and humor is the one most normal people gravitate towards. You have done some thinking and reflection about the topic of this video for sure...
Am I the only one that noticed that when 401 was doing 60- 65 during the 4th (or second) reasoning, that there was a motorcycle in the left lane that smoked you and the traffic? It must be a 70+ MPH zone and tou were just being safe and cruising slow. It would be cool to see you start a video, have a dash cam interruption(because you had to make a stop while filming), then continue the video like nothing happened. I swear you would get at least 10 million likes and subs for something like that. Hahaha. Be safe out there bro. My son is seeking a career with the military and eventually law enforcement. We are in Texas, but still, basically the same job. Your channel really prepares me for the "what ifs". Thanks for that.
I got to ride with a cop friend several times. You learn 3 things really fast. 1 law enforcement is actual work 2 a lot of bad stuff happens in your community that you don't realize. 3 when seconds count, a cop is minutes away.
The sense of humor is spot on. When you show up to a triple fatality, 2 semi and SUV, one of them a grain hauler, all on fire......and you look for popcorn.
Hey officer401, I think it would be very helpful and also informative to make a video about the proper way to handle a traffic stop as a civillian with either a CCW or a loaded weapon on them. I am about to get my military ID and my CCW and I would like to hear from a police officer the proper way to handle that situation. I want the officer to be just as relaxed and comfortable as I am during the stop. I have an idea on how to handle it but I think it would be helpful for everyone to know the officer's point of view and his suggested actions. Thank you and have a good one! :)
I've been doing ccw 5 years now. When I get stopped, I always do the same. Keep hands on steering wheel with window all the way down. Pleasant greeting. Hand chl along with DL IF IM CARRYING. Only DL if not. Cops are people. No guarantee s/he will appreciate all you do to ease their mind. Make sure to thank them after getting your earned citation and wish them well.
Just started watching your videos, only took two to make me subscribe. Thank you for being honest and show officers are normal people. Thank you for what you do and hope you keep the videos coming
With the exception of not having weekends & holidays off these silly things carry over into retirement. I was a cop for 30 years, retired for 21, and still hear the same crap when I meet someone new. Years ago one of my neighbors was a checker in a store where we shopped and she’s gotten a speeding ticket. When she asked me to “fix” it I told her it was not something I’d do any more than asking her for free groceries at her checkout. Everything is spot on, good video.
I just want to thank you. I'm 16 and going into junior year. I was thinking business, or law, or something in between such as law focused in business. Since I was little, I've always liked policemen, firemen, medics, and what they do. I thought they are model citizens, for the most part, and I should be like them. Putting themselves in front of the public. As I said earlier about what I've been looking at for my future, I now need to add policeman. Thanks to you, I have taken a big interest into the field. Of course, not decided, but I am thinking about it, as I do have PLENTY OF TIME. Anyways. Thx for being a model police officer that others should emulate. Thank you and be safe
How about a video about Police vs Fireman or Similarities and Differences with Police and Fire. Or a video about some tough calls you have taken, if you're comfortable with it. By tough I mean hard for your personally or upsetting to you.
Thin Blue Line Warrior What's the difference between a cop and a fire fighter? They both wanted to be a fire fighter. lol I'm just joking. I've been bouncing back and forth about joining my local FD or PD. It's 2 different jobs but I'm trying programs in my high school and I'll determine then.
S50mateen E30 the fireman and myself and fellow cops of my town all joke that the others 'checked the wrong box'. In reality we're all out doing the same thing, helping people, but police joke that fireman are lazy and foreman joke that police are lazy, but we all have each other's back.
I get the humor part about seeing a law enforcement officer at a party... I'm talking to this law enforcement guy, when I see him I run away then I shout " that's my only chance to run from the police without getting in trouble." 😂
Ive been very concerned with how become a police officer would change me and been somewhat worried that it could ultimately ruin who I am...very glad you made this video it answered a lot of my questions 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
the hammer and nail reference was spot on, and I'm not even in law enforcement, but with certain people who for one reason or another just get to deal with the worst people in this planet, it's really difficult to deal with keeping track that there are decent people out there
Glad I joined the military before I go through this gave me the experience kind of like it. The being gone for long times hours of work, different family, all of it.
your number 1 tip is 100% correct, My father used to laugh at the most wrong times possible. Lmao we used to say he must have a dark sense of humor. But it was most likely his sense of coping with the reality that came with his job.
PixelStudios Yeah but that skater did nothing wrong, that cop pushed him into a car for no reason at all, other skaters went pass that cop and he didn't try to push them but that one skater he did and that's bullshit
My best friend of 40 years older brother was a cop for 30 years before he died and I was good friends with him too ,I watched him go from being an MP like I was in the Marine Corps to a Detroit cop ,within a year all his friends were gone and he hated people in general ,his reason was every person he met all day every day was a liar ,that really got to him .
Everything he's saying is true. Brother is a Sgt. in NYPD. At get togethers, more cop friends are there than family members. When my father passed away, I've never seen so many cops in uniform, show up for a man they hardly knew. Also, when I got into a bad car accident and my brother found out, you would have thought it was a cop that was involved with all the units that showed up. Once you have someone in your family that's in law enforcement, you get an extended family. Great video Officer401.
Xxx88Xxx it was. Car totalled but I ended up with a few bruises, but after calling 911, called my bro and wow. Faster response. Would have not bothered calling 911. We all know how long they take to respond.
From this the only difference between the changes from being in the military and the changes from being a cop is people will actually hide the beer from you cause they don't want you to drink it all
it's the same here in Iceland :) I'm working as a cop there for 4 years now and you nailed it with the changes. feel free to contact me if you are ever going to Iceland and keep up the good work
#6 - Once you're nearing retirement age, you'll realize how lucky you've been to do the best job in the world for so long......but you can't wait until the day you can leave it behind. Especially these days. I love my job, but I am literally counting the days to my retirement date.
Ron: "Aaachoo!!"
Wife: "NICE RON!"
RON: "WHAT? AM I NOT ALLOWED TO SNEEZE?!?!"

I already get no sleep so....
Sleep? Pfft.
Thin Blue Line the hell is sleep? Is that the thing I'm supposed to do after shift?
Have you ever pulled over a fan
@CodingCrusader1095 funny
I got pulled over for the first time today. He didn't even ask for my registration, just my license, and he didn't even go back to his car. I told him the person the car is registered under has a gun permit and that there was no guns in the car but i did have a knife on my waist. He was happy that i let him know that. Did you?
I start the Academy in January. 😎👍🏼
And now the real hard work begins.
you've opened my eyes to a part of law enforcement that I've never seen. Thank you

Hey, I am a Deputy in AL. I think you make some great content. A topic/stories I would like to hear from you is about nights with full moon.
Deputy F that should be a funny video
Deputy F When my family lived in Alaska and husband managed a hotel, he said the problems escalated when it was Friday (and payday), moreso when Friday the 13th, but the worst was when it was Friday the 13th and a full moon because that was when murders happened. I know that sense of humor very well lol. 7 years in the military and 11 in EMS, I have that. Keep up the good work
Thank you for your insights and service. As a retired military combat vet, your brothers and sisters are the best family you will have.
Nice. My agency actually provides a great class for new Deputies and their family, intended to give some insight on this subject. I'm going to suggest they offer the same to the detention Deputies as well. I noticed many of the same changes in myself while I was LE2.

😂😂🤣🤣I hate it when someone say's "let's take a minute of silence" I bust out laughing. Black sense of humor, Retired firefighter/EMT.
So basically just like being in the military... I've got this! Love your channel!
Damnit, I was just in Forsyth Georgia for two weeks. Damnit
were you looking for your identity
Can we take a moment to admire how beautiful the clouds look in this video
One of the biggest changes I've seen in myself is I dont do well and crowds. I become hyper vigilant.
BUT ! Criminals will have to be careful, or i'll beat them with my trusty baguette !
no, not the tactical baguette
thatrandomguy the surrendering tactical baguette
Lol
Some of those baguettes are hard enough to break teeth.
'sees with baguette' No. No. I surrender!
Humor comes at the worsted time even when someone is ill or dying you just get tried of killing your joy or laughter as someone dies.
As the laughter comes from a previous joke.
Talk about stolen firearms! My beautiful and totally moded out AR-15 was stollen and besides filing a report and leaving it up to the detective, I think I'm out $3k+ :'(
I like people with sick senses of humor. It's a tell-tale sign that they're some strong individuals who have been through some shit.

I hope all the people at the party have a sober designated driver !
Yep, that military part is true! I've noticed it with my family members who take your oath as well.
It's absolutely necessary to have a coping mechanism and humor is the one most normal people gravitate towards. You have done some thinking and reflection about the topic of this video for sure...
never could clicked on a video so fast, awesome video as always
1 law enforcement is actual work
2 a lot of bad stuff happens in your community that you don't realize.
Xxx88Xxx Mike the cop isn't mike401.
Alright cool I'll look into it, thanks!
And we're going to be way more paranoid, always watching the windows in restaurants, stuff like that.
My humor's pretty dark and twisted as is - I'd definitely laugh if the pall bearer or bride/bridesmaid tripped.
Must ... resist ... doughnut joke ...
Seriously though love the channel.
As someone who loves people naturally, I feel like my view of the public wouldn’t change.
Anyone else think it would be awesome if someone made an animation to officer401s humorful experiences and stories?
Thin Blue Line Warrior Talk about a touchy subject first place i worked we got along great second not so muck (more like at all )
Thin Blue Line Warrior he did a vid on firemen before
Thin Blue Line Warrior What's the difference between a cop and a fire fighter? They both wanted to be a fire fighter. lol I'm just joking. I've been bouncing back and forth about joining my local FD or PD. It's 2 different jobs but I'm trying programs in my high school and I'll determine then.
S50mateen E30 the fireman and myself and fellow cops of my town all joke that the others 'checked the wrong box'. In reality we're all out doing the same thing, helping people, but police joke that fireman are lazy and foreman joke that police are lazy, but we all have each other's back.
Im in school studying criminal justice. Your channel helps me get ready for when I become a leo. Thank you.
This makes total sense. 👍👍
The being gone for long times hours of work, different family, all of it.
your middle name becomes THE COP hey this is my friend / neighbor etc. name [ the cop] last name
Grab your beer and never fear, mr 401 is here
your number 1 tip is 100% correct, My father used to laugh at the most wrong times possible. Lmao we used to say he must have a dark sense of humor. But it was most likely his sense of coping with the reality that came with his job.
You should tell us your opinion on what happened in San Francisco with that cop that pushed the Skateboarder into the cop car
LIKE THIS SO HE CAN SEE
GTA. BLAST officer 401 is the embodiment of car door take downs
PixelStudios Yeah but that skater did nothing wrong, that cop pushed him into a car for no reason at all, other skaters went pass that cop and he didn't try to push them but that one skater he did and that's bullshit
You nailed it. My sister is a cop and you said everything she told me and more.
if you don't upload videos more often i'm gonna fucking sue you
For what?..my sofa? haha.
Better call Saul Mr.401. We need that sofa to stay put.
that ambush part is real for sure. That's where you as an officer find out how much your spouse really supports you.
So early, videos in 360p. 😁
Hi @officer401 can you do a video about the bomb squad or hazmat team?
Michael Garrity his department ain't got cash for that 😂😂😂😂
Don't amp up the ego. A badge doesn't give you extra powers over us.
Lol the thumbnail is of the French police. Gardien de la paix a la police nationale.👮🏻🚔
The sense of humor thing seems so funny to be honest! I'm thinking of becoming a cop, so that's why I watched this.
"start to expect a little bit of resentment towards the public and media" PERFECT l already have tons of resentment bahaha
Makes sense. Tough line of work to be in, but very much appreciated. Sounds like you have the right circle of friends. Best wishes to you and yours.
OFFICER 401 PLEASE DO A VIDEO ON ICE (IMMIGRATION AND CUSTOMS ENFORCEMENT)
Damn. I love that Cop-Familly part. Wish I d be American, just to have the chance applying for Police....
Keep up your great work! :)
Sounds like the Marine Corps lol. The parties are a blast.
best channel ever!!! a lot of people in my family talked me down to persue my dream of becoming and officer, but you made me keep going for it.
No where near first.
James Hhhh Nice Agera
Kryptonlte Oh yeah man thanks, I didn't take the photo tho. I found it on car throttle a while ago.
From this the only difference between the changes from being in the military and the changes from being a cop is people will actually hide the beer from you cause they don't want you to drink it all
I was gonna be a cop but do to my brass balls and glorious mustache I was better served at the fire dept!
It's called "Gallows Humor" . We use it a lot in the medical field. Takes the pressure out! Haha.
hey dad
TSA Sleeps HeY DaD
Hey Spongebob.
+officer401 😂😂😂
XD
Almost everything you mentioned relates to how I am naturally, so no problem for me.
My days off were Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I always worked the weekends. Take care, be safe.
Why is everyone hating on meh? My name is Ron!
I feel like hiding the beer would not be a good plan if officer401 was there. I feel like he would embrace its presence.
And don't forget the odds that your spouse will cheat on you increases along with the PTSD ☹️
it's the same here in Iceland :) I'm working as a cop there for 4 years now and you nailed it with the changes. feel free to contact me if you are ever going to Iceland and keep up the good work
#6 - Once you're nearing retirement age, you'll realize how lucky you've been to do the best job in the world for so long......but you can't wait until the day you can leave it behind. Especially these days. I love my job, but I am literally counting the days to my retirement date.
Are you still counting?
@@fluffyFaris Yep! 670 days, 11 hours and 24 minutes.....
