Edit: as of the first day of PTR it seems coldflame DOES spawn in inside the boss's hitbox before moving radially outward, making the "stack inside the boss" strat un-workable. At this point it's still too early to say whether this is just early PTR woes or if it will end up being the final version, but atm players need to spread out. See 4:07 in the video.
Quick tip for the Bonestorm phase coldflames: Marrowgar spawns them in an X pattern at the end of the path he travelled. So if he travels like this ----X the 'X' will be the boneflame pattern always. This means that his 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock sides relative to the path he travelled are always clear areas to stand in. This way you'll be able to consistently predict and figure out whether your current positioning is safe or if you have to move with the added benefit of also knowing WHERE you will have to move. Basically if you see Marrowgar charge towards you either run forward, sideways, or backwards and you'll always be safe. Never diagonally.
I was turned on to your channel via a friend. You sir are criminally undersubbed. nicely produced, and densely informative. I will say do you plan on separating out heroic modes in anyway?
Thanks! The approach I've taken so far depends on the encounter. For some fights, like marrowgar, where there isn't much difference between the normal and heroic mechanics/strategy, I don't spend much time distinguishing between the two. If anything, I'll focus more on the heroic version of the encounter with the idea that a heroic node strat will also work for normal mode, while the other way around isn't always true. For other fights, where the mechanics/strategy are notably different, I plan to dedicate sections to it. I think the festergut video is a good example of this.
You state that after Coldflame is "cast" it will target a player who's range is further then the one before. Where did you find this information as i think that's incorrect.
I think he just means it wont target that same player, but instead just another viable target that is "further than the stack" I think he just messed his words up.
@@lockekappa500Well it's changes a lot if it just picks another random target and tanks don't have to deal with the whole positioning as explained in the guide. As i don't find and know any information about that on coldflame.
Hey Great work thanks a lot ! Are you sure you can BOP players that got targeted by Bone Spike ? Not sure if this is a private server only thing or not.
Thanks! I'm not certain. I couldn't find footage to prove this so it's more of a guess until we see it on PTR. From my understanding, bone spike impale acts similar to the constrictor tentacles on yogg-saron which players can be bop'd out of, so I figured it was at least worth mentioning.
@@scrublama1752 Can you prove he's wrong? If not, then he only has the information available on the internet to go by. And BOPing is said to work in some guides.
IMO 3 tanking will be easier, but I also think it will be possible to 2 tank with better gear. An intermediate step that I contemplated including in the video was having a 3rd melee dps stack on with the tanks with some hybrid tank/dps gear. As they become more comfortable/survive better in the role, they can slowly swap off the tank gear for more dps oriented pieces. I ended up not mentioning it and instead said "run 3 tanks" because there are several fights in the instance where running 3 tanks, especially early on for prog could prove helpful. Knowing this, i imagine most raid teams will have 3 tanks prepped. In which case you may as well run said 3 tanks here
@@Fishbro The slash damage with 2 tanks in ToGC gear with 0% buff is just way too high. Once you get a lot of ICC gear or they add the zone buff 2 tanking should be fine.
It's not necessarily the case that hunters NEED to be outside of melee range, but if they stack with the rest of the raid inside the bosses's hitbox they will be too close to use their ranged weapon. So hunters prefer to stay out. Hunters can still trapweave on this fight. If the hunter happens to be in melee range while trapweaving as the boss spawns coldflame, it would then just go on the tanks. The raid will always be safe from coldflame regardless of the hunter's position if stacked inside marrowgar's hitbox.

@@lockekappa500 On Warmane at the least it doesn't work. It might minimize the damage they take or something, but it doesn't break them out.
Is this a 3 tank fight for sure? do you think it's possible to 2 tank it after gear?
It's definitely not a 3 tank fight, even with low geared tanks you would still 2 tank it.

on marrow you should stack on the boss but slightly behind it*

why hunter have to do the job? cant it be done by any other range? in classic hunter learned to lay don the trap for more dps.

looking at the position of the pets, his hit box is massive. that said, hunters in the video are out in narnia for some reason
@@jamesbyrd3740 Yes they are too far. They should be at minimum range so if they get spiked, people can break them out quicker.

I dont think we will need 3 tanks. 2 will suffice
This may very well be true!
You dont need 3 Tanks here. Heavy Overkill on this
Try it with 2 tanks, 0% zone buff and ToGC gear. Good luck is all I'll say.

no way that ping pong nonsense works. poor pirated server coding
It's possible. There are raid mechanics that are baited by furthest target, but I agree this doesnt seem like one of em.
