  • I've always wanted to check this place out, and I finally had the chance to today. This is the Ohio Station Outlets outlet mall in Lodi, OH. It was built in 1996 and in 2008 the miniature train was added as transportation and a fun theme for the mall. Sadly around 2018 the mall went into a serious decline and now has less than 15 stores and only 2 restaurants, and as far as I could tell, the train doesn't run anymore. Here is a video of some of the MANY, many railroad crossings on the line. Enjoy!

Man, what a great mall that must have been in it's heyday! Reminds me of the train they used to run at the Brookfield zoo in Illinois. Sadly that was removed in the late 80's or early 90's I believe.

I used to shop there occasionally (I live in nearby Wooster). There was once a hobby shop there that sold model trains (mostly HO-scale and G-scale). I bought an HO-scale Erie Lackawanna SD45 diesel locomotive (brand-new, still in the box) for $75 a few years ago. The last time I went up there in 2019 (before the pandemic), the store was no longer there.

I had lots of good memories from this place. When I went there as a toddler, the events I would participate in. Every year my mom would take me here to get shoes for school and afterwards we would ride the train all around the mall. I remember a model railroad shop being here. It is so sad to see this place out of business.

I agree. Unfortunately I never got to see this mall in its prime because I live 5 hours away. I have a feeling I am going to be very fortunate I saw it at all here in a couple years. They even disabled the traffic light for the mall's entrance and made it so southbound traffic on OH-83 can't turn into the mall anymore! T's like somebody doesn't want this place to succeed anymore.

Flooded rails, leaky canopies, doggie pooh on the sidewalks, rusting signals, abandoned turntable. What a sad end to such an incredible investment. So large it really would have needed full-time maintenance people when it was running.

That's unfortunate, this was a concept I always wished the malls around here had when I was little, lol. Hoped it would come back. But, if your mall can't make money, you can't run a train either. Never did hear anything on where that all ended up, had no idea they tore it out.

You should do a follow up on this. And if they decide to take down the signals, you should save them. I may be able to start driving and sometime within a year or so, I should have my license. Then, I may be able to go see this while it's up. I would like to save one or two of them before they scrap em.

      Well, two unfortunate things.
      1. I live 5 hours away and just happened to be passing through on my way to PA. I'm rarely ever in Ohio. But that doesn't matter, because
      2. They've already ripped out all the signals, and most of the tracks as well. They hauled off the train about a month or two ago. No idea where any of it is going.
