Building the Mountains on the HO Scale Railroad Layout Part 2

Back to work on the layout. I am starting to build the mountains. I am going to try a way that I have never seen done before....more to come on the process. Hopefully it works!!!!
Here I am using "Monster Mud" to create the mountains.

great video. if you have the equipment i suggest mixing with a mud paddle and a drill. saves alot of time and strain on your arm muscles.

This is the easy and cheap way to provide a mountain scene. I actually prefer the hard way of doing my mountains.

Hey awesome upload mate. This is the same technique I use but I add in real dirt into the mix. It gives it a neat nice effect then I sprinkle on more dirt and cinnamon. Awesome. I subbed you. I am working on mountains in my layout right now and trying all sorts of odd stuff. I use a product from Home depot called Great stuff thats spray on foam used to seal windows and doors and it works great when forming mountains and its easy to carve and cut.

the great stuff spray is a low expansion sealant foam. for "building up" the base of the mountains i would recommend a higher expansion urethane foam.

I'm probably gonna use this method to make Muffle Mountain.

A kitchen electric carving knife works good for cutting Styrofoam and is pretty fast.
