- New York Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm sought the Democratic nomination for president back in 1972. Vice President Kamala Harris will be the first Black woman to accept that nomination from the Democratic Party. Shola Lynch, the director of "Chisholm '72: Unbought & Unbossed," joins CBS News with how Chisholm opened a door that Harris entered.

FINALLY!! 😂😂 THANK YOU!
To Compare Harris to Shirley Chisholm is Farcical. Like comparing Biden to JFK.
Honestly, this is the first time hearing about her
She was amazing! Check her out! I think being “written into obscurity” was intentional.
No comparison.
Kamala Harris for the win..🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
what did she win? by how many votes did she beat her opponent in the primary?
@@chobiden7770She got more support, bigger crowds and pledged delegates than Biden...
It was actually Indira Gandhi that paved the way for Kamala.
If she lived in India. Indira Gandhi was a force and Kamala’s mom was Indian. But on US soil… Chisholm paved the way.
And here in America, Shirley Chisholm sued the networks and made sure that all candidates get equal airtime opportunity. Without Shirley Chisholm, we would have no Barack Obama, Kamala Harris, Jesse Jackson, Hillary Clinton, or Nikki Haley this woman broke barriers.
If you say so...
Hell to Noooo
Kam@La is a East Indian. (stop the propaganda) ~ ☑️ .... 🤔
Exactly her father is not black. Hes an Indian raised in a jamaican town predominantly Indian and arab
@@mariekano9730 her father is Afro-Jamaican
Chisolm was Indian??
No. But she was a non white woman who ran for president which could inspire someone like Kamala
That was clearly a cheap jab at Kamala who is both Indian and black.
@ considering Kamala herself never claimed anything but Indian for 98% of her career I don’t feel bad.
There's an election ahead. Please turn left. ⬅️
20 comments, 20 more votes then Harris has received.
Do you believe you have the right to choose your candidate?
Or should you be told who to vote for ?
