The 1994 Finals would have been a great series to watch had Jordan not retired. People forget that the Bulls added Toni Kukoc (with Steve Kerr and Luc Longley) that season. In my opinion, the 1994 Bulls may have been the best bulls team of the 1990's had Jordan not retired.
i would say that longley was an upgrade to cartwright, but kerr is definitely a lesser player to the prime paxson. but yea kukoc was a probably the best 6th man the bulls had at that point. and his game was kind of at its peak around 94-95 too. but harper didnt glued with the bulls at 94-95 it was awful to watch.
I agree 100%. The Bulls did still have Pax in 1994 though, although he was restricted due to injuries. But between Kerr, Prime BJ and Paxson, the Bulls point guard spot would have been strong in 1994.
If Jordan never retires Harper never becomes a Bull. Kukoc may have played point tho like Harper. And if Grant stays no Rodman which eventually would catch up unless the Bulls still have enough foresight to stack the deck and go for a play out of the 87-88 playbook and desire joining Rodman with Grant at 4 and 5 like they refused to do with Oakley and Grant. Hard to say what things Krause and Jackson and the Bulls from top down would have missed had certain factors had not made themselves obvious to Chicago by way of an early 1995 exit from the playoffs. That season the Bulls were struggling all year without a PF so it made Rodman an obvious covet for Chicago. Not so obvious if otherwise structured. They may not have been as desperate and Chicago top down didn’t like Rodman as a bad boy and he didn’t get great press in San Antonio. The Bulls took a flyer out equal parts desperation and need.

Nobody was touching a fine-tuned Bulls squad in the post season, regardless of how much revisionist history a lot of so-called experts like to use.
Sorry, you won't lead too many followers down the rabbit hole with all of that hypothetical babble. Hakeem has been bounced 8x from the first round of the playoffs. Not only that, Utah has beaten them more times in the playoffs than any team. And we know what happened to them vs the Bulls.
@Curtis Thomas Yep! Seattle was Houston's nemesis. They were the only team in the West with athleticism the Rockets couldn't match. If Houston could've gotten past the Sonics they could've gone to the Finals 5 straight years.

I know the 96 bulls hold the regular season record, but this '92 starting five looks more talented to me in all positions except Center. Just goes to show the trend in overall NBA competition level through the 90's, that an older & slower team could still win more games. Also, Horace Grant had 22/9/6 on 10-12 FG and 2 STL in this game. He was a beast at PF night in and night out, and yet he rarely made a highlight reel behind the Jorden/Pippen/Paxon show.
And yes, I would take Grant over Rodman. I don't see how +3.5 rebounds per game makes up for one ill-advised 3pt brick per game, one bad TO per game, a much lower FG%, no passing ability, and worse defense.
Not a chance. You talk like he's just some guy. Rodmans a hall of famer for a reason. He's the "beyond stats" poster boy. His passing was exceptional. One of the best outlet passers I've ever seen. Up there with Bird. Exceptional halfcourt passer as well. Check the tape. Court savy 10/10. He understood his role in the triangle to perfection, which is NOT easy at the 4. I know because I played college and ran the 4 in the triangle as well. Much of the offense flows through the high post. Only player in history who could legitimately guard 1-5. Consistently shutting down all star caliber players. Mentally breaking down almost anyone. Showed up on big stages. Stamina beyond measure. Fired up the crowd better than even MJ. I could go on. Now you add Harp, Kucoc (would be an all star today) an even better Pippen...no way Jose

But would those guys have been mentally up for the challenge? In the '94 Finals against the Knicks, Kenny Smith and Vernon Maxwell were ice cold most of the series and John Starks was lighting them up like a Christmas tree in the 4th quarter. If *John Starks* was doing that to the Rockets in the 4th, just imagine what would Jordan have done. He would have ripped them apart. Much like Hakeem would have done to Bill Cartwright. So that would have been a wash. So set aside the two superstars on each team and it comes down to supporting cast, coaching, and experience. The Bulls win in all three departments. Not just with Scottie Pippen and Horace Grant here's also one very important factor you're forgetting about the '94 Bulls team: The arrival of Toni Kukoc. His arrival along with Steve Kerr and Luc Longley added to the Bulls bench that I don't think the Rockets could match.
In case anyone is wondering why Hakeem is wearing goggles, well earlier in the year bill Cartwright elbowed Hakeem and broke his orbital socket, unintentionally
This would have been great Finals matchup in 1994. The Rockets had a great core group of players that surrounded their best player which was Hakeem who is the best two- way player @ his position in the league. I pick the Bulls to win this Finals in 6 games. Here's why the Bulls had the 3 peat so their championship pedigree is there, the Rockets were a tough competitive bunch that would have challenged the Bulls, Hakeem would have gotten buckets but the Bulls would have made sure the rest of the squad didn't get off. The MJ vs Mad Max would have been fun to watch but MJ's game just goes to another level in the Finals, the man avg 41.0 ppg in 93 vs the Suns @ age 30, so @age 31 in the Finals vs Max MJ would torture him with his play & he's a master of the mental game so it didn't take much to get Max off his game, Max would have challenge MJ on both ends but overall MJ wins that battle. The Champion Mental Edge, MJ's will to win, & the Bulls overall had a better team to win that series. I heard that MJ wanted the Rockets to be in the Finals in 97 so he could close this debate & prove a point to the haters but the Rockets didn't take care of business and the Jazz beat them that year. That Rockets team had Hakeem, Clyde Drexler, Barkley, Horry, Sam Cassell, & Kenny Smith.
Hakeem's Rockets vs Jordan's Bulls is the biggest "what if" NBA Finals matchup to never happen. It's crazy to think that for EIGHT seasons NBA Championships were shared between these two teams in an extremely competitive era.
@centenario de oro Phoenix sometimes struggled in their own home.... they won first 2 road games in Houston in 1994 WCSF but unfortunately Houston won 4-3
@centenario de oro .....liar. KJ was actually injured in 92-93. He missed almost half that season injured. Not when the Rockets were facing them. Shaq dumped the Bulls out the playoffs. Houston certainly wouldnt be any sort of pushover.
“Google the series from 91 to 90.......*shruggin* whenever Mike left and see how many times we beat them and how many times they beat us.....ok I’ll just leave it at that.” -Vernon Maxwell 2015.
Which is faulty logic. The Cavs won all regular season meetings with the Bulls in 1989, including on the final day when they rested their starters in the second half. And what happened when they met in the playoffs that year? Exactly.

Be thankful Houston showed y'all how to properly dispose of Orlando.

@FuShengAlex Thats an asinine argument lmao! I can say that if MJ didnt get injured that year they wouldve been 7th seed instead and not face the Celtics in the 1st round. MJ was at his peak when he retired and the Bulls had a team that can compete, unlike in 85-86. Gtfoh kid.

Exactly. That is how they ultimately did Orlando in. Kenny Smith set the finals 3 point record that year they played Orlando.
@HTTR you forget Scottie Pippen his Defense on Maxwell or Clyde is the deciding factor
@m Khan the 1994 were nothing. 1992 Knicks were better than them. 1970,1972,1973 Knicks were the only great teams
@m Khan Houston was 3-13 vs Seattle & had to run to Charles Barkley cause Seattle owned them. The Dream 6pts in a playoff game vs Seattle 😂😂😂
1:37 just beautiful to watch
MJ picked Hakeem as his centre in his all time starting 5 along with Magic Pippen and Worthy.
@2:14
MJ from 26 🦶 feet away 🦶🏿bailout jumper 🦶🏽
Johnny that had to be 26ft WOW! Geesh now there shooting from the logo with ease
If the GOAT doesn't retire in 93-94 he would have had a 8 peat....
Jordan retired to do what he made a career of doing vs Houston.....batting well under .500 and mostly losing lol.
Wrong, Rockets would’ve won both
In case anyone is wondering why Hakeem is wearing goggles, well earlier in the year bill Cartwright elbowed Hakeem and broke his orbital socket, unintentionally
Great, What A Cool Fun Fact Of Thee Day Mate!!
MJ the undisputed GOAT!
Most impressive part was the elegant mullet sported at 6:55
best ever
I used to love when the chicago crowd would yell "THREE" on 3 pointers
Dale Trinihooper Austin
Hakeem's Rockets vs Jordan's Bulls is the biggest "what if" NBA Finals matchup to never happen. It's crazy to think that for EIGHT seasons NBA Championships were shared between these two teams in an extremely competitive era.
@@drlight6677 Word!
I have never seen mj shoot a hook shot ever!
Post graduate course for Mad Max.

“Google the series from 91 to 90.......*shruggin* whenever Mike left and see how many times we beat them and how many times they beat us.....ok I’ll just leave it at that.” -Vernon Maxwell 2015.
They would've whooped their ass it would've been the Dream vs the Bulls 😂😂
Which is faulty logic. The Cavs won all regular season meetings with the Bulls in 1989, including on the final day when they rested their starters in the second half. And what happened when they met in the playoffs that year? Exactly.
0:14 There was actually a time where people thought Otis Thorpe was a better Power Forward in the Western Conference than Karl Malone??? I know this is totally unrelated to the video but wow really??
Ot was a ox but on The Mailmans level?? Those guys were on heroin saying that SMH
Good to see some buckets from John Paxson...
I just wish we could combine all eras and find out truly who the best is
John Ambriz it would b Jordan
And 🤡s think Jordan couldn't shoot the 3s 😂🤦🏻♂️
Lebron fans
Bulls in 5 with home court advantage. Bulls in 6 without home court. Remember, the Finals format was 2-3-1-1 during this time.
The Finals was 2-3-2
@centenario de oro 95 Choke-ago couldn't even beat Orlando with Jordan fallin flat on his face and are somehow gonna beat the rockets who swept them that year. 🤣🤣
Blew a 102-94 lead at home in game 6 in the same week Houston stormed back out West.
Be thankful Houston showed y'all how to properly dispose of Orlando.
Rockets matched up well. Would have been a great series. I like Houston’s chances. The X factor was Hakeem. The Bulls has no answer for him and he was disruptive defensively. Seemed like the Bulls were always looking over their shoulders against him.
And what was their answer for Jordan?
@@deetee9546 who cared about jordan....the bulls lost most of these matchups even with him jacking up a ton of shots. Mainly because the GOAT shotblock king Hakeem!
For the record, this is the only game between these two teams during the first three-peat the Bulls won 🙂
That's why it was uploaded it. LOL it's a Jordan sycophant channel.
Regular season game rockets ain't beating the bulls in the playoffs they struggled with the jazz and you saw what the bulls did to the jazz🤡😂😂😂
@@momo4044 meh. Houston struggled vs the Orlando Magic (who dumped Jordan and Chicago out the same playoffs) losing both regular season games only to sweep them in the Finals

The Rockets alums keep saying they wouldve beaten the Bulls if MJ never retired lol! Prime MJ was INSANE. 94-95 MJ wouldve been tought to beat, with prime Pippen too.
Uh fine n dandy....Orlando beat them!
@FuShengAlex When Jordan was Rusty? The swept them the following year. They wouldve made some moves mid season to make the team better if MJ had been there the whole time.
@musicman9914 Maybe, but I still wouldnt bet against MJ and Pippen in the Finals in their prime.
@semajgnik yeah um whatever. He sat out almost all of 85-86 with an actual injury. Played the same amount of games. He and is squad got swept.
Nobody is saying: "Hey Boston only won because Jordan was rusty..he didn't play the full season".
Miss me with that mess!
Gtfoh kid.
Even this team (aside from the 95-96 Bulls) would win rings today

@@ernestboykin3rd706 The ‘93 Bulls as well but Jordan and Pippen didn’t play at 100% in the regular season. If they didn’t played in the olympics the team would finish the regular season with 62 to 67 wins easy.
"Otis Thorpe may be the best power foward in the west" Uh, what? Thorpe was good, but Malone was undoubtedly the best PF in the west at the time
You picked the 1 game out of 6 tries they actually beat the Rockets during their 3-peat.
Fast forward 2 games when they played the Rockets again and he went 9 for 26 for 22 points while Mad Max went 7 for 13 for 23 points.
Can't forget Olajuwons 24 points and 8 blocks including the game winning block to end the game on Jordan last second 3 pointer.
The Rockets were a year away from drafting Horry and becoming a Championship caliber team and finished this season 42-40.
The Bulls were working on their second title and finished 67-15.
Whats song is played at the end of game?
GOAT
Maxwell said you can't do that to MJ😀
It was an MJ show in the 90s and they were just paid actors, as you can see when he fould out😁
Jordan had 35 points in this one against the Rockets. He stepped up and got it done.
This Rockets team this season was trash without Hakeem.....only 2-10 in games he missed.
Hakeem laid the smackdown repeatedly on Jordan and the rest of this Chicago team in Houston the same season.
Kenny Smith is crazy thinking this dude could hold Jordan in a finals LMAO! Jordan overcame the Pistons. Mad Maxwell is just Mad but thats it.
As good as the Bulls were here keep this in mind - this is the *only* game during that first 3 peat that Chicago won against Houston
The game was so much more physical when MJ played.
1:50 even the GOAT misses layups 🙀
Kenny Smith they could have beat the Bulls when Jordan went if he then retire no he couldn't that was regular season these were the 92 93 season and they didn't make it to the championship boys would have beat them
Yeah...he tortured Max into a Rocket victory by 22 points😁
What about the rest of the games they faced each other?
