When I say RAM I mean RAM memory, not GPU memory. PZ uses the GPU (graphics card) very little. Check how much Memory you have on task manager, on the performance tab, and set it accordingly. allocating more RAM than what you have available will cause system instability and BSOD's in the worst case scenario.

You forgot the mod called "Rain washes blood". My frame rate drops _dramatically_ whenever I pull up into Muldraugh because of the overdraw of the blood decals after so many zombies were turned to mush on that main street. Rain deals away with that, making the game a lot smoother.
At the time, I didn't know about it. But Beaver covered it on a short recently giving the tip that you can turn off blood decals as well to prevent the FPS stuttering.
Allocating more RAM prevents this game from starting. I`ve chosen the 16GB option since I`m currently playing on my old PC. *Edit: I left that RAM allocation unchanged, but now subscribing to the better fps mod causes my game to crash before I even hit main menu. I´m assuming it´s some conflict with another mod since I have around 90 mods installed by now and it seems to work properly for many other people. I`m also running the textures optimized mod in performance mode, which is already enough for me to have a good time gaming.

Hmm, you must have like 5Gb of cache being created. 8Gb for Windows 11 isn't really great, you're left with just about 4Gb of RAM to play games with. It's not going to help you much as the problem with the RAM allocation resides with the fact that when you get close to fill the RAM (80%- leaving 1 GB free to do RAM things) it starts creating cache files in the disk (virtual memory) and that's where the slow down comes from, as the disk- RAM speeds are slower than RAM-CPU speeds. For example, at the moment the soldier run that I'm doing shows 12Gb allocated for PZ, whislt before I do that change it will only show 9Gb ( I had to verify files between runs) It's easier to see the more mods you use. @@sen_sf when i try to do the optimize all textures mod and try to copy the texture folder from the mod into the project zomboid file it doesnt ask me to relpace. did it still work?
First time I've seen that happen, the rendering of the game is reduced with that mod, so I'm quite surprised by it. It's a change that B42 is going to bring to the game as it improves performance, so you might have something else going on there.
@chillinbone590 weird. You shouldn't have any performance issues to start with. When you said nothing changed, what do you mean? I have a i7 6700k @4.6 64GB RAM @ 3000 and a GTX 1080. And without mods it sticks to 60 fps. With mods, depending on what I'm using it varies between 15 and 60, 15 when I'm driving and there is 200 zombies finding paths around me with authentic z changing how zombies look.
@sen_sf before I used to get 200 fps in game with all of my mods and then in the middle of playing it started to tank so I went in the middle of nowhere where no zombies were and I was still getting 30 fps (I allocated 20 gigs of ram )
@chillinbone590 There might be some mod doing that. Not with that CPU. For example, a single Sandbox Option (months after the apocalypse) was disabling a mod and cutting my fps by 20. You might want to try PZ discord, on the mod help section, and see if someone can help you after you give them the logs.

I figured it out I think
@seanmoist5418 alright, that one needs to ask you to replace it. Let me know if you have any more question. I'll get onto it after I wake up
I only have 4gb of ram, am i cooked?
Oof, yeah, What OS are you on?
it's a laptop, i5 7th gen but the gpu is 800m series. The game runs smoothly but stutters so much when played for long periods of time.

Oof, I'm surprised you can even watch this video.
the better fps mod made my game lag even more 🤣
First time I've seen that happen, the rendering of the game is reduced with that mod, so I'm quite surprised by it. It's a change that B42 is going to bring to the game as it improves performance, so you might have something else going on there.
i did all the performance boost but nothing changed
@chillinbone590 what's your system specs? Also try to turn blood off, I found that one after the video was done.
@@sen_sf i got a 4070 super graphics card i7-12700k and 32 gigs of ddr 4 i turned blood decals to 0
@chillinbone590 weird.
