My personal theory:
Ironhide is a fairly old Cybertronian in the movies, and hes obviously very battle-damaged, much more than the other Bots. Hes also known for having very tough armor, being able to survive shots to the head and Spark more times than youd expect because his armor is absorbing the force and lessening the damage done. He mightve had his Spark moved at some point, but its hard to catch this if youre not paying attention.
First shot from Sentinel: Hits Ironhide in the back, with a bit of Rust coming out the front and bringing him to his knees. Obviously very confused.
Second shot: It does WAY more damage than before, possibly due to his armor absorbing most of the initial impact and being unable to withstand the second one. Compared to the first shot, which barely affected Ironhides body, the second shot caused an explosion and forced him onto the ground, something Ironhide has never done in any other movie. The explosion was either scattered Rust or the Rust reacting with Energon, as its a very reactive substance in most media and, as Theorymus Prime put it, could even mix depending on what wound it is (Surface wound/from the mouth = Green; Lost limb = Blue; and heavy injury to the neck and spine = Red) and cause its own mini reaction.
Final shot: the last shot is closer to Ironhides head than Spark chamber. While the Rust barely affected him, this final shot put enough rust on Ironhide for it to rapidly eat away at him. Sentinel likely intended to use his Cosmic Rust cannon to kill Ironhide not with the shots (because he knows hed easily survive them) but instead the Rust since no known Cybertronian has survived Cosmic Rust without treatment. And as we can see later in the movie, Sentinel tried to shoot Sideswipe when Optimus was raining Hellfire upon the Cons and barely anything came out of the cannon this time. Hed used most if not all of it up on Sideswipe and the little that came out against Sideswipe didnt actually do anything to him. Cosmic Rust might be fine in smaller amounts, but the large amount put on Ironhide was likely the cause of death

I’m not sure if you noticed this or not but Sentinel was first revived by Optimus in the beginning of the movie, he had purple eyes, just like Optimus in TF5, and when Sentinel was attacking nest after killing Iornhide, you can see his eyes are purple as well

This is the moment when I lost all respect for Sentinel Prime. What he has done was unforgivable. I’m glad his betrayal has been in vain. (Aside from the outcome of the later movies)
Cybertronians are built differently. Because of that, Some cybertronians are able to bear more damage then others.
The only other transformer that we see die from losing his spark is Jetfire. Considering he was one of the oldest transformers we met, and being badly damaged, it wouldn't be surprising if other transformers did that when they got to that point
2007 franchise Jazz had a visor that protected his upper-face in combat. Transformers Ironhide also had a mouthplate similar in appearance to Optimus Prime's as shown in some of his concept art and toys, but he has never officially used it on film.

He didn't knew Ironhide was part of the matrix he only shot him in the chest cost ironhide maybe a guard for him to escort the pillar to the ark and may have saw him shot in chest while escorting him so he knew Ironhide was a tank and a strong one near a prime which mean the biggest target if he ever survive in the end he would be fighting sentinel to delay him for prime to fight him again so that's why he waste his round on Ironhide cost he is near a prime level which mean if he fought him he would be delaying time to escape then fighting him
@@jakecowsert6185 dude the matrix fix iron hide spark and he is part of the matrix but not worthy for it cost when iron hide was shot in the chest he was still alive cost of the matrix help but when the rust fully eaten his spark he dead since sentinel though he survived cost of the matrix so he definitely change the round to cosmic rust to kill him
@@jakecowsert6185 well yes he is strong but the matrix added extra protection on spark of iron hide beside if ratchet fix iron hide he would need rest for year for his energy to make his whole body work like the past but he was instead healed by the matrix beside the matrix show honor and a leader and iron hide has honor and he can be as well a leader beside if the cosmic rust was shot first then iron hide would have died when he tried to see his own body so sentinel change shot cost he knew a spark is a weakness

Ratchet and Q/Wheeljack probably upgraded his armor and then we'll drive gave him guns cuz he didn't have guns cuz his gums got destroyed in the second movie so I think ratchet and Wheeljack decided to upgrade his armor as well to his guns and maybe that's how he survived that first shot and then he did not survive the second shot

@@cars_squad2223 maybe he guessed cuz "I think" after the 1st shot, sentinel doubted, 2nd shot, he's very certain about that so he shot the 3rd shot (he didn't fired instantly, there's a clear delay between the shots)

Ironhide, The Strongest Gun Mechanic Officer. Losing a Comrade like this is the worst to happen that's why Sentinel killed Ironhide first because he is a problem to Decepticons. it's been an Honor for the Great Soldier's of Optimus Prime. Ironhide, Ratchet, Sideswipe, Cliffjumper, and many more Autobots who have died even Offcam man. I hate why they killed them Offcam😡 at least show what really happened to them and how did they die.
