I'm really impressed by the slang "down". All my life when I heard/read "I'm down" I understood that the person is kind of sad, unhappy, because basically "down" is the opposite of up, that leads to "thumbs up", and such ideas. I think is gonna be difficult to me to erase that idea of "bad things" related to "down". OMG... Thanks Wes!

I think you are right on target in that lots of ESL learners are learning some slang that we never use in our lives. They tend to get these slang either from some movies or dramas but in reality even native speakers don't even know or know it but rarely use them. In that regard, touching on quite common, frequently used slang like these can be super helpful for most of ESL students. GREAT JOB! Hope you can continue to create this line of content. Here's one more that can make your videos stand out even more than others. What about adding frequency on each slang how much it's used. Just my 2 cents. Keep up the good work!

Hi Wes! Watching video lessons like yours never gets you bored! Never ever! The more you watch the more interesting words you find.
The word "MOON" deserves special attention. Mooning seems to be a little bit weird to me but we all were students and only God knows what you can do for kicks. Boys will be boys! And how many words related to "moon" are there in English! The moon, moonlight (work part-time secretly), moonshine (Romanian tsuika) and on and on and on.

Thanks for explaining these slang words clearly and for giving us more than one example, Also maximum of 10 Slang words is perfect than 15 or 20 more Slang words. I've watched a couple teachers before I found you and they were not even explaining it clearly, also, most of the Slang words they used are not even useful like "Kiss and fly", "Wicked", or "Rub elbows" etc. You are awesome and deserve more views! Starting today, I will follow all your lessons. More power to your channel! Keep it up!

Hi Coach Chat, I listed your video and it's very impressive. I truly believe this is a good method of teaching/learning language. I appreciate your "coaching". I have one recommendation and am wondering if that makes sense to you. I think it will help us if in your caption, you can add some symbols for the major pronunciation differences, such as links, sound reductions, etc. I personally still have a hard time to identify the differences by listen only, until teachers point out.
    Great work!

Another wonderful lesson!!!!! I really had a blast for 10 minutes....
But today I have a question to you regarding contraction. In a song called "hate me" by Ellie Gouldlin I found "still tryna replace me". Does "tryna" mean "trying to"?

"Slang" words are not proper English. You will not find slang words or their definitions in an English dictionary. But they are expressions that people--especially young people--use in everyday conversation. Slang words also come and go. A slang word that is popular today can fall out of usage within a decade.

Hello, teacher Wes. I have been learning for quite a long time. I often hear people talk about idioms, phrasal verbs and slang. However, it seems to me that I am not able to distinguish these three things. Some phrasal verbs are called idioms, sometimes slang or just phrasal verbs. It's kinda baffling me when it comes to thinking of giving them the appropriate name. Would you mind clearing my doubt?
