Nerves grow back about 1 millimeter every 4 days, so my doctor said many years ago! Nerves can be irrepairable, but nerves can grow back between dead nerves like tree routes. The idea is to keep carbs low like this great man says, AND eat all the liquid B vitamines you can find for the sheathings to repair themselves!

The great Dr. Richard K. Bernstein recently celebrated his 90th birthday. He pioneered this way of controlling diabetes (he’s type 1) and then quit engineering and went to medical school, hoping that the medical community would then take him seriously. Mostly they haven’t. Bernstein’s reported that in his own case and with many of his patients, nerve damage sometimes reverses after years of tight control due to a low-carbohydrate diet such as carnivore. Diabetic gastroparesis due to neuropathy of the vagus nerve sometimes goes away, but it’s far from guaranteed. After over 3 years it hasn’t happened for me, but I spent maybe 30 years doing a bad job controlling my type 1 diabetes and maybe the damage is too great to be reversed.
Don’t EVER give up! Our bodies are intricately designed to heal themselves if we give it the right balance of healthy nutrients, sunlight, movement, sleep, fasting, and “happy” thoughts. I’ve been amazed at how powerful seemingly small things can positively (or negatively) add up to affect our health. ♥️ & 🙏🏽 for your continued healing! P.S. doctors used to think brain cells can’t regenerate, but we now know they can. My cousin’s doctor recently told him his body had generated new blood vessels near his heart to create new pathways for blood to flow around other blood vessels that were 90% blocked. What an exciting time to be alive!

In Jan 2023, I had foot surgery and developed CRPS (look it up 😭) in that foot. Relatively speaking, I was diagnosed quickly and within six months (again, relatively quickly) I was stable on LDN and Tramadol. Jan 2024 I went carnivore and have since been able to stop Tramadol. I remain hopeful to taper off of LDN over time. It’s been slow process but, I am successfully treating a condition that is often chronic and progressively worsening. 🥩&🍳

Thank you for being such a great inspiration to my wife and me. You've been a voice of reason in a clown world of bad intentions. And you two look fantastic! Tytytytyty!
I severed the nerve to my left index finger in 2003. Due to surgeon stuff ups they kept looking in the wrong place and decided it was all in my head. 8 months later they found the severed nerve, it was right where i said it was, in the centre of my palm they couldnt believe it. So they didnt perform the surgery within 2 weeks like theyre supposed to, nowhere near it. I ate a whole food diet, huge salads, fruits and 800ml of carrot juice a day, you cant even see the scar unless youre looking for it. The betacrotene was very very good for vit a for my skin. And the head surgeon of the hospital went as far as to ask me "what did you put on the scar to heal it so well?" I said "nothing but loads of sorbelene cream, $4 a tub at the supermarket!" I had no idea about vit a for skin healing, it was much more likely the carrot juice and all the salads i was eating. Zero sugar/processed foods, absolute zero. But i only regained about 60% regrowth of the nerve because of the delayed surgery, theres a permanent tingling whenever i move my left index finger. Maybe if i was eating MEAT it would have been better, who knows. But it was a miracle that i taught myself how to play guitar all over again, I'm sure the constant movement of my finger helped to eradicate much of the scar tissue that would otherwise have grown into the surgery wound. Maybe carnivore would have produced 100% regrowth, who knows. But i would have included a lot more MEAT into my recovery if only i had known of the benefits of red meat. Its a whole food in itself, it contains everything you need to heal and grow. It would have been nothing to include a big fat steak in my diet every night for dinner. The things you learn in hindsight!!
I just walked out of my pain clinic where I get weekly nerve blocks in my spine. I went no carbs,no starches like potatoes, carrots, corn,no fats, skinless chicken breast broiled, sockeye salmon once in a while, plain green veges , mushrooms, few fruits, and my lupus disappeared, inflammation gone ,diabetes gone kidney damage healed, heart attack healed, off blood thinners from strike, lost weight, just have joint damage from the arthritis.
I had chronic inflammatory demilinating pollyneuropathy for 28 years, eating a high-fat high protein diet reversed it... along with fasting intermittently. The Doctors couldn't believe it as they are not taught anything about the power of our diet!
Thank you Dr Berry for your great info and great advice . I follow a very low carb diet for brain health 🧠 keto flex mainly but did experience some nerve irritation in my right thigh . It still niggles but a lot better 🙏
But leafy greens, beets and red onions are touted as high in neurotropic factor, to help rebuild nerves. Do you deem these exceptions to your "low carb" rule?
While ive dropped almost 40 lbs since march, im still feeling awful & weak. Now i have a different issue and not sure whats going on. First, i suffer from H.M.P. potential MS and autonomic dysregulation, so, i have a hard time staying upright, controlling my bp, hr, etc.. Last week, our sheep got out and i had to help hubby round them up. It was warm and very humid which is not good for me. Animal control stopped by to see how things were and we struck up a conversation. That was my first mistake. Then, i felt my knees buckling and realized i waited to late to go in the house. I collapsed on the ground, heart racing & sweating profusely but still coherent. After about 10 minutes, i was able to get to my feet and in the house with her and my husbands help. However, i havent felt good sense and actually gained a few lbs without changing anything. Now my gut feels bloated, i can't eat as much, but my weight isn't reflecting that. Should i be concerned?
Got it! Day 2 on Carnivore diet, do not really like it. Just too much meat. However, this video fell on my feed tonight. I have chronic nerve pain (A-Typical neuralgie) on the left side of my face/head since December 2015, and it is 24/7). It hurts, a deep burning pain. If their is a chance the carnivore diet may help, I will give it a fair chance, as nothing else has helped up to now. Thanks doc.

Dr Berry, I'm a new subscriber and keto-vore with a question. I keep watching interviews and reading articles about how healing the right fats can be for the body. I had a knee injury years ago that led to surgery to remove broken cartilage years later (delay due to misdiagnosis). My question is, is it possible to heal or regrow cartilage (to avoid a full replacement)? I'm not expecting miracles, but I haven't been able to run or climb stairs in years...
I heard anadotal info about eating cartridge and ligaments from meats helps restore your own. Perhaps home made bone broth from boiling some meat bones? I won’t buy store bought bone broth anymore since the last organic box I bought ruined my chicken Marsala that I was trying to make with all organic ingredients from scratch. 😩 I think it was because it had carrots in it. 😐

I don’t know how much more pain I can take how many more days and years ? I just wanna die to stop this feeling..
@KenDBerryMD: I’ve been following you for two or three years now. i’ve been on carnivore since about two years after arriving in the Caribbean from the Middle East (2020). And my blood sugar has gone up instead of down. The last reading I had was 7.1. The reading prior to that was eight. The 7.1 I believe is a direct result of my doctor taking me off of carnivore and putting me on Metformin. Prior to that when I was in the Middle East, I was doing keto and my numbers were 5.9, 6 , 6.1. So I’m curious. What would cause my blood sugar, cholesterol and triglycerides to go up on the carnivore diet? Oh, I should also mention that while doing carnivore I’ve lost 60 pounds. But still my numbers have gone up instead of down. My blood pressure also has gone up since going carnivore. It’s controllable with blood pressure meds which I’ve never had to take before.

My 20 year old neuropathy severe burning pain, hot flushes are diminished by 90% 3 months since i cut carbs and went on BBBE. Skin issues still bother me.
so go for meat and eggs only & fasting ..got it Dr
I am hoping to repair ear nerve damage which has caused tinnitus for many years. Been carnivore for almost 10 months.
Wishing you the best 😊
WITH GOD ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE
What an exciting time to be alive!
had a fall, got gastroparesis and concussion wih left side weakness...
THIS has been what I've been doing to not get migraines, weakness in left side and trouble passing poop.
3 weeks to stop feeling tingling and stinging in genitals
6 weeks to feel my intestines
3 months to be able to feed more than once a day...
4 months in... still a bit weak on the left side of my body, but can eat pretty much normally... slow passing poop... but normal
This small sentence is good enough to certify Dr.Berry is a very very good medical doctor.
Zero carbs zero plants for me.
Collegian rich broth and food really helps.
Thank you for this information to help heal nerve damage. 👍
I’m doing carnivore I see it helping my epilepsy and I do have nerve damage hoping it will help that as well
Thank you Dr Berry!
I have had 3 cervical spinal fusions and have MS lesions all over that area. So happy to be on zero insulin by week 3 on carnivore for type 1 Diabetes what a game changer. need help with myelin sheath repair
Wow,I didn't know you could do zero insulin for type 1?
@@ianstuart5660 I know I never knew either I have had it for about 8 years & have always been on 24 hour insulin but I just can’t as my sugar is in the 5’s. I am in shock
@@ianstuart5660I think many more can do this!
You need to stay with it for year or more

Thank you for the info. I'm type 1, diagnosed in 2022. I'm going to go no carb.
Thank you, Doctor. God bless you and your family.
Shared ty!
I so needed this right now!
Thank you for sharing Dr.Berry.
Oh, man! I am jumping up and down in total agreement! I adjusted my eating habits to fix my body, and yes, it's a work in progress. I do feel the difference and it's a life change... And I like it!
I've actually had nerve damage repair really fast with lions mane mushrooms. You can also try Portobello mushrooms and you can cook them and eat them by themselves. You really can't overcook a mushroom either.
What brand did you use? What dosage? Thanks!
@@LeviPage Give me a minute to find it.
@@LeviPage I couldn't find the brand, but I'm sure any will work. And as for portobello's, just use any from the store that are organic cut them up cook them in an iron skillet or whatever Skillet you have with some salt and you're good to go.
Where is that Data on this?
@@raspycellist thanks! So you took lions mane and portobello or are you just suggesting portobello as an alternative?
In Jan 2023, I had foot surgery and developed CRPS (look it up 😭) in that foot. Relatively speaking, I was diagnosed quickly and within six months (again, relatively quickly) I was stable on LDN and Tramadol. Jan 2024 I went carnivore and have since been able to stop Tramadol. I remain hopeful to taper off of LDN over time. It’s been slow process but, I am successfully treating a condition that is often chronic and progressively worsening. 🥩&🍳
Great stuff I am reading your books as well
Alcoholic neuropathy. I continued to drink for 2+ years after it first started. I am 13 months sober and still hoping for continued healing. I stil have regular twitchig in my calves and sore feet. Hopefully these next 12 months bring me more healing 🙏. It is disappointing i let things get so bad.
Thank you for being such a great inspiration to my wife and me. You've been a voice of reason in a clown world of bad intentions. And you two look fantastic! Tytytytyty!
B12 can re-mylinate the nerve sheath
Thats good information!! Thank you.
I’m glad you educated him! Hopefully he’ll get curious enough to look into it so he can help other patients.
I'm 3 months carnivore and 38 years pls primary lateral sclerosis. Hoping and praying 🙏🙏🙏

Thanks - still a little nerve issue from knee replacement a year ago
Yes keto backed off pain of peripheral neuropathy in both my feet. It stayed as long as I stayed on keto
You mean stated away right?
I have so much nerve damage. This is hopeful ❤❤❤
THANK YOU DOCTOR
I have done this it works 💯 percent
Thank you so much for this reel! I have started some benfotiamine and was wondering how long it will take to heal my neuropathy.
Thank you.😊
Thank you Doctor ❤
He’s amazing isn’t he??☺️
Yes, fantastic!..❤

SPREADING HYSTERIA
Mine is likely permanent. I'm a very low-carb carnivore and it seems I will never get back to my pre-Ménière's disease self.
Thank you Dr
Cool that getting rid of carbs, fix everything 👌😲
I have severe small fiber Polyneuropathy I am going to try this and wait patiently like you said to see if it’s my answer ❤
Thanks doc.
Yes, low “carb” doesn’t mean “carn” (meat). Meat is highly inflammatory and long term, cuts health and longevity. It only works short term and for young people
Good info. thanks.
Dr Berry, I'm nervous about finding out if I've got nerve damage. Does that mean my nerves aren't damaged?
Thanks!
Just thank you!
also do hyperbaric oxygen. Many sessions. Probably best to buy one since by the hour can cost a fortune.
I am on oxygen 24/7 do you think this diet could get me off of it. I'm on oxygen because i had COVID in 2021.
What have you got to lose❓ I have found that "Carnivore" is actually cheaper.
Not sure, but what do you have to lose?
There is an interview Dr. Shawn Baker did with someone who came off oxygen using carnivore - if you need the inspiration 😊
@@anyajohnson4471 Thank you so much. That is great inspiration!
@@stephfive0 , If you understand the "Do's & Don'ts", & follow closely, You will see a positive result almost immediately. wondering if it will help me from medial epicondylitis and cubital tunnel syndrome? I started to suffer from such after i contracted necrotizing fasciitis and developed sepsis (PSS)
@Dr Berry. I read Red Onion should be a daily mainstay to repair of total body nerves to include the brain. Any opinion? I agree with zero carb but red onions have a small percentage of carbs. Will you respond please?
Lions mane may have helped me.
Stem cell infusion and injections can be helpful also…
How would you recommend getting estrogen levels up without hormonal therapy?
Turmeric has been shown to repair nerve damage
And anything from the gingerol family
Shingles is the worst pain ever, had it effect my lower foot and leg never got over it 7 years and the pain still lingering.
I think to much nerve damage has taken place so unfortunately a low carb diet isn't going to heal the damage done.
Thank you❤
I hope after 2 or 3 years the neuropathy in my feet reverse
I don’t have nerve damage but I have occipital neuralgia nerve impingement, as you know Dr that causes dreadful very bad head, neck and face pain.? I’m in Perth Australia and I can’t seem to meet a specialist that can do surgery on me for decompression surgery to loosen up those nerves that’s causing me grieve for over 15 years. I’m in pain every day n night .. even with cortisol injections only takes the edge off. Had abaltion (RFA) last December 2023.. wasn’t successful.. surgeon didn’t do it in the neck but head in 4 places .. I knew it wouldn’t work because pain is coming from nerve impingement back of my neck. Pain so bad every day I can’t do much in my day. I cry alot from this pain and side effects from pain meds . I don’t know how much more pain I can take how many more days and years ? I just wanna die to stop this feeling..

Does this help with foreskin restoration to repair the nerve damage from circumcision injury?
