So many people want to "lower" their rides for style, then comment in all the shock review vids, saying their ride sucks. Lower = shorter travel = rough ride. A taller shock with the proper sag adjustment will save you money at the chiropractors office... and you'll actually be able to ride for more then 10 miles at a time... which might save you some money for those trailers people buy.
You are right on the money! I’ll take function over fashion!
I just ordered a set for my 15 ultra limited . Thanks for the video on the 412 shocks on a bigger bike . Most videos are about putting them on Sportsters
Thanks for watching. I'm glad it helped. I created the video because I was having a hard time finding one on these shocks.
@@whatcomesnext5865 update. Wife and I love the shocks! Night and day difference from factory shocks. A lot smoother ride.
@@dwaynecooper3787 did you get the standard duty, or the heavy duty?
@@Slking507 I got the heavy duty
Thanks. You have the only video showing how to use the wrench on the progressive adjustment wrench for pre load adjustment
Thank you. I'm glad the video helped you! If you haven't already, please subscribe to the channel. I really appreciate your feedback!
I struggled getting the holes to lineup. I had to lossen the first bolt because it was on secured. Once i lossened the first bolt the second bolt lined up to the hole perfectly. Something that simple i forgot.
Glad you found a solution. :)
@whatcomesnext5865 thanks! I'm rusty, and forgetting some basic principles in mechanics.
Are these the heavy duty , or standard?
Gonna put mine on this week on my ‘05 RK. Thanks!
How did the install go?
@@whatcomesnext5865 went great, big difference, much smoother ride. It took all of maybe 15 minutes w the bike on the lift… easy as pie.
hi so its been 4yrs how are they holding up or did ya change to a different shock ..?
Thank you, I just ordered the exact pair for my 97 roadking.
You’re welcome. Thanks for watching!!
Hate to ask, but does the standard work for you? The wife and I weigh about 325lbs total. Think the standard would be enough for a basic touring Harley?
Yes. They made a big difference! It's always best to get a stock length shock so you keep/maintain the appropriate length of travel. A shorter shock will have less travel.
Which length should I buy? The length of the stock air shock? 2013 Electra Glide. Great install video!
If you go to progressive’s website, put in your bike info and it will tell you what the stock length is. For the best ride I would recommend the stock length shock as it should give you the most travel to absorb compression.
Thinking on putting them on my ultra …… I ride 2 up a lot …… jus don’t want to bottom them out
Very impressed with the 412 Series Progressive rear coil overs we installed on 2021 RGS #performancebaggin build! Great shock set for the $$!!!
Great video man, how are these shocks after a year now. Also want to ask that you got the 13” shocks what is the size after installation? Does it come down to 12.5” or still 13”?
I am still satisfied with these shocks. We have put a lot of miles on them. I did not measure the shocks after the final installation. You set the pre-load on the shocks according to the installation instructions. This ensures that you have the proper amount of travel once you and your passenger are on the bike.
I hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
Marc Woerner thanks for the reply
My stock suspension on my 21 ultra limited is 13 inch as well as the progressive 412s I just installed but they lowered my bike about 1 inch. Adjusting the preload will raise my bike?
Did it lower without the rider, passenger, and gear? If both shocks were 13 inch then it should remain at stock height with out the rider, etc. If the height was lowered with the rider, passenger, and gear on the bike, then you will need to adjust your preload. Progressive has pretty good instructions on their site. I hope this was helpful.
How are they holding up, we're they worth it?
I just received mine (412-4211c) and the shock shaft has a loose washer on top of the bump stop of the shock (both on the shock shaft) Is this normal? Did yours also have that washer in the shaft? or would it be a assembly defect ?
Asking because i dont know if i should bother Progressive before installing my shocks
I would call progressive. I don’t recall any loose washers as you describe.
@@whatcomesnext5865 I texted them on instagram and sent a little video, i may give them a call if that doesnt work
@@BadAssEngineering I think you’ll find that they are helpful!
@@whatcomesnext5865 They were! They told me the loose washer is normal and it is supposed to seat itself when riding the bike. They also had Hotel California on the phone line, which for me is top notch customer support
If you change the preload to the lowest setting does it lower the bike or just stiffen it up
The spring preload only effects the sag of the bike based on the weight of the rider, passenger, and gear. It will affect the compression and rebound of the shock if the shock piston (via the spring) is not set to the proper preload.
Hi, do you know the size of the upper mount bolt on the back side? the one inside the fender?
Thanks bud for the video!
I believe it's 1/2 inch or 9/16 inch but I'm not positive. My bike is still in storage or I'd check for you. Thanks for watching.
You can over torque bolts by doing it over and over after it clicks.
Thanks for letting us know!
Nonsense. If you stop at the click, it’s the correct torque, done a thousand times.
I put some progressive 412 chrome 13 inch Super Duty on my 2016 iron from 11 inch stock crap and two clicks sag🗣️ amazing 🏍️💪👌🤟😎💯
Glad they worked out for you!
what's your weight Rodney?
296 weight
@@rodneyricketts177 thanks = okay, I am 200 pounds so one click might do the job I suppose (Street Glide Special from 2020)..??
Do you put the spacers on the top and the bottom bolts or just the top?
Thanks for the question. It has been awhile and I longer have the instructions. Thanks for the question.
What seats did yiu out on your harley, looks like pillow tops.
@bradlevander2808 The seats you see in the video are stock for the 1995 model year. The bike is an Electra Glide Ultra. Thanks for watching!
Had Bad Hips, Both Fixed Now/;-))))2013 RKC
Put A Solo Seat , Pro 430 ???Think 10.50 Or 11.00
Was Able To Swing Leg Over ! Without To Much Pain!!!
Pain Free Now . Peace I Hope !
So what was your review
Nice looking shocks
Awesome video and review. Thanks. I ordered a pair and will install them tomorrow.
I'm glad you found it helpful! Ride safe.
How'd ya go mate? get em on?
@@ozziejim8472 Got them on, took about 1 1/2 to install. Awesome ride, big difference. I adjusted & test ride until I got the perfect feel. I have about 200 miles on them now. 👍🏽👍🏽
@@recondmv6342 Glad to hear that you like them. I ride 2-up most of the time and these shocks made a big difference in comfort for me and my passenger. I'm sure you will get the adjustment to your liking. Ride safe.
Awesome dude, enjoy!
Great video! I want to put these on my 2006 V-rod! Thanksfor the video...Liked and subbed!
Thank you! I’m glad the video helped.
My Progressive 412 did not come with a spanner wrench
I would contact Progressive and ask them to send one to you. Thanks for watching.
I just put 11 1/2 inch on my Nomad. I'm very disappointed in the too firm ride. Maybe the 13 inch would have been better, but with my stock shocks, i floated over pot holes, so would have been no point. It is a trade off as i'm a short guy and have more confidence with this top heavy bike.
Ride safely. I'm glad you have more confidence. Thank you for watching.
Same with me, now i think i need to also change the kickstand to 1inch shorter to avoid drops during stationary stand bec the weight its not properly lean to the left when it is stationary
@@aceking21 I removed the 11 1/2 inch progressives and bit the bullet and bought 12 inch Progressive 444s. Very happy with them.
@@58gennaro oh thats double expense though :)
@@58gennaro Same height after adjustment ?
What’s a warsher? Is that like a washer?
Sure is!
😂😂😂
Is this heavy duty or standard?
These were standard. Thanks for watching.
@@whatcomesnext5865 Hi Mark, thanks for the video! Thinking of putting this on my 95 King. Is there a reason why you did not go with the heavy duty series? I am 220 lbs, 6 feet and the wife is about 5'3" 130lbs and when we ride we probably have 60 pounds of gear, tools etc. Just thinking the Heavy Duty may be better? Thoughts?
@@SteelHorse1015 We are about same weights but don't travel fully loaded very much so I went with the standard duty. I also used Progressive's website for some guidance. If you travel fully loaded alot, the heavy duty versions may be better for you. I would also recommend that you stick with the stock shock length so you retain the greatest amount of shock travel as possible. Good luck and thanks for watching!
Great vid thanks.
Thanks for watching!
Did you buy Standard or Heavy duty?
These were standard duty.
Progressive is expensive in regard of the very average buit quality like the very basic and fragile black painting and the dynamic performances are not very good. I don't understand why so many ppl buy it.
They worked for me. Thanks for commenting!
Are you from Ohio?
No, sorry.
It is my work
What size were your stock shocks
My stock air shock length for my bike is 13 inches. I ordered the 13 inch shocks from Progressive. Thanks for reaching out to me. If you have any other questions let me know.
Were these heavy duty? How much do you and your wife weight?
